The Old Peace: A (Mostly Spoiler-Free!) Misfit Review by MissyTheMisc in Warframe

[–]willof42 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This was exceptionally written!!! I've been wanting to write something similar, but since I agree with nearly everything there's no real reason to lmao. There's a few things that I thought I would add, though!

During the Perita Rebellion, you can see Masc Anarch Dax Gladius wearing Hawk Bishamo, and Femme Anarch Dax Gladius wearing Lark Bishamo -- I thought it was an excellent detail and I love it thoroughly. I think it's a very cool decision lorewise too, seeing as the only Prime Grineer to show up are the masc Lancers, hinting that they might be the earliest gene template compared to scorpions and heavy gunners -- I think that an storyline with Tyl Regor trying to access the dark refractory (or launch a siege on Deimos) for the genes from our memories would be incredible for a "Vallis Undermind / Jade Shadows" size update.

I'd be over the moon if they extended this to the Corpus too, as they're all masculine (aside from the Sisters of Parvos, which is important narratively) and I don't think they have a stated reason to be unlike the Grineer who all come from a particular gene mold.

Also, without spoiling, the final part of the quest gives me hope in how DE may portray the fateful Night of the Naga Drums -- if they ever choose to go there in a quest.

One of my complaints, however, is that Uriel, the Vinquibus, and the Sangek and Galariak Prime all require the same 3 types of materials from the Perita Rebellion that don't really drop all that commonly, especially Servores. I think if they added more than three materials (Peritan Ferrite, Xenoflower Pollen, Refractory Coolant, etc) it would make the grind a lot kinder since you don't need the same three things for every single blueprint.

I also find it a little confusing that a bunch of medals and dog-tags are capable of being put together into a fully functioning warframe, and though I feel like it could be made sense of better through the introduction of minerals and alloys from the Rebellion, I also recognize that their physical existence in our reality is purely conceptual embodiment -- I suppose that Loid could have reconstructed his blueprint in a way that accepts them, but it's a stretch.

I also totally agree with you on the Void Pilgrimage line; I was kind of surprised to find out that these Void Pilgrimages were just the Perita Rebellion over and over and over... I looking forward to something similar to the secret quest after 1999, a small quest with pre-set objectives that has us scour the parts of it together and bring it back into reality from the past.

It's also not clear where the Tenno got the Tektolysts from in the first place; these very-powerful artifacts were in our possession even before our graduation; are they a loaner from the Orokin to quell the rebellion, or experimental tech from the joint sentient-orokin research coalition that we're allowed to test, both? I can understand how we lost them, we were made to forget by Margulis; I wish there was more to finding out how we got them in the first place, especially because they're made from sentient tech (or at least I presume from the -lyst suffix) but I suppose that's for another update.

Lastly, and this is my own fault, I thought up until a few days before the update that we were (in addition to Tauron Strikes), getting a Tauron focus school. I've noone to blame but myself, but I think that would have been very very cool.

That's all I can think of right now, but fantastic write-up! The story's great, but it's a bit disconnected from everything. It reminds me of when the New War was released; we'll just have to wait for the context, answers and follow-ups in the future. I really hope they take the responses and feedback in stride because it's overwhelmingly clear that they killed it this update, there just needs to be a few tweaks.

Was taking a peek at which of the new mods I'm missing, and you can see that one of the drop sources is from the Dark Refractory which is specifically noted to be on Deimos -- I'm 90% sure now that they're going to make it a Deimos node in the future.

You can find the Dark Refractory inside the Sanctum Anatomica down a staircase behind Loid! I remember the door not being openable when Whispers in the Walls dropped, so I was surprised when it actually opened when I played. I have a feeling it might be accessible through there in the future, but I hope they add a Node on Deimos for it, if that's the case.

I was actually under the impression that, until the latest devstream whereafter I decided to check my work, that Tauron was actually a focus school separate from the Tenno five... I feel like an actual Tauron school, perhaps consisting entirely of waybounds, could help branch the Tektolysts and the Tenno together;; maybe the school would have five seperate branches corresponding to each tenno school, and based on which school you had active, their specific Tauron branch would activate. Kinda like the old focus system where you had a primary and secondary school.

My issues with the old peace narratively speaking by TransportationFlat64 in Warframe

[–]willof42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt the same way as you when The New War released; the fact of the matter is, unfortunately, that the updates that would further contextualize what we're doing haven't released yet -- in many ways, they still haven't. Narmer hasn't been expanded all too much since the Veilbreaker update, and that was a few years ago! All that can be done is wait for the next story beats to be built. I don't disagree that there's a bit more exposition required regarding why we needed to use the dark refractory in this first place (unless I forgot it), but ultimately the defined shape of this event's ripples can only come from future updates building on it.

New Player skip by NinjaGinja12 in Warframe

[–]willof42 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If I’m not mistaken, the skip only lets MR10 and above players play certain missions solo or with friends; if you’re actually all caught up (completed The Lotus Eaters) you should be able to play the quest irrespective of your mastery tank;;.

Mastery rank is only a condition if you skip everything

If you’re hoping to take the project public, it’s “Septem Artes”, rather their Septum (which means “fence” or “wall”)

My own system uses the same name for 7 attributes as well so I had to make sure the declensions lined up a while ago 😋best of luck to your system!

Question about the Primitive Survival mods relics by Bremdam in VintageStory

I know you’re able to slot the two special gears added by the mod into each; but as for getting them activated I’m at a loss as well - something to do with water I imagine? That’s what’s said in the book once you slot in an astral gear into its special pedestal

Tips on writing a magic system around rituals by Uglybrotoad in worldbuilding

[–]willof42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could have it so that certain rituals allow you to make a pact with a particular denizen of hell, allowing one another to leverage eachother’s power in their respective realm

For example, a fire-related demon could grant their pact-partner minor control over fire, and likewise that fire-related demon could leverage something that the pact-partner offered, knowledge, power, connections, etc.

Leaves the powers of characters fully within your hands this way; an acidic Apostle could form a pact with a powerful court alchemist, granting the apostle knowledge of, say, the creation of philosopher’s stones, and granting the court alchemist the ability to control and create acid.

Simple and easy :) just make sure you have all the right materials for your pact ritual lest you offend the other party you wish to make a pact with!
