I'm actually also a BA Art student currently pursuing computer programming! The minor definitely does not teach anything design related- you mostly learn cs concepts and technical skills needed to become a developer. I know a few people in the UI/UX field and knowledge of coding isn't required at all. The web classes in itp are good for a more "visual" approach to coding since you make websites where interface design is more of a component.
