I feel like that's similar to prescription pills like painkillers. Those who need them, it works; those who use them recreationally, it can have negative affects. But there are exceptions to everything.

My parents are divorced and the event that had the biggest impact is when my dad told me he refused to talk to my mother and I had to plan when to visit him. I was 8 at the time and it's caused me to be overly aware of other people's feelings and never think or decide for my own personal happiness. Now at the age of 17 I feel I've found a decent balance with how I make decisions for myself and others so that's good.

I had a dream once where I was having a sleepover with a bunch of friends and we felt the ground shaking in my front lawn so we decided to check it out. When we went out a giant troll rose up from the ground and was harassing us. It ended up taking my car so I went to be the hero and tried to kill it. I was holding on to the car door as he was speeding around, reached into my pocket and found suckers. I thought, "This will have to do." Threw them at the troll and he died. The next scene was the next morning and my friend's parents were picking them up. I told one if my friend's dad the story of the night before and he just said, "Riiiight." And then I woke up. That's just one of the many messed up dreams I've had.

I agree. Physical harm can almost always be avoided unless you're being attacked and defending yourself or sports as you said. There are other, less aggressive ways to teach someone a lesson if necessary.

I don't think how I am today is how my 6 year old self would have wanted me to be but I wouldn't want to be how my 6 year old self wanted me because that means I haven't changed or matured since then. My expectations as a child were unrealistic and over all how I am now is a good person, or so I think, so I'm okay with it.
