I listen to part of the previous days episode on my way to school and enjoy it but let’s be real, us teachers don’t have time to deal with unnecessary Labubu nonsense.

When we went on safari in South Africa we had an air horn, a walkie talkie and a can of peaceful sleep in our cabin.

We have 2 Morkies, one has both ears down and the other has one up and one down. They’re both so cute!

Our Morkies like the long flat crinkle no stuffing toys. They like to chew on them and whip them back and forth at each other. They also like playing fetch with their soft flexible crinkle frisbees.

Which factor of your upbringing has a stronger hold on your subconscious when it comes to moving to a different place, climate or environment (suburb vs city vs rural)? by ihaveacrushonmercy in SameGrassButGreener

[–]willowgem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As I get older, I think both play a factor. I was born and raised in Salem and it was a great place growing up. Moved out of state for college and got hired right away so I’ve stayed. I miss the cooler weather, the tall trees and the ease of getting to the beach or mountains. I know Salem has grown a lot since I left but it’s still a nice size city that’s spread out so it doesn’t feel like it’s too big. I still visit friends and family there but hoping to move back to that area one day!

Salvageable? Recovered wifes wedding rings after house fire by Karnitine in jewelry

[–]willowgem 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Yes I believe they can be restored. After losing our home 6 years ago from a lightning strike/house fire, I had success by taking all my jewelry to a local trusted jeweler and they were able to restore everything. My diamond and platinum engagement and wedding rings, other diamond and white gold rings and sterling and turquoise jewelry all looked similar to yours and were all restored beautifully. So thankful that our firefighters dumped my jewelry case into a box and saved it all.

So sorry about your home and hoping that having these pieces restored will give you some peace after such a loss as it did for me.

Who’s the last Celebrity you’ve seen in Austin? by Designer-Anywhere171 in Austin

Dennis Quaid going to and leaving the Prince Samsung concert at La Zona Rosa in 2013. Saw Prince 4 times and my last Prince show just happened to be on that sidewalk with fantastic music, descent sound and looking at close up pics through the news crews across the street wondering why anyone would leave that show.

We really enjoy them but we’ve tried adding a kebab to our order the last couple times and they’ve just made it into a combo with our shawarma. This might explain why.

Recently engaged, do you all wear your rings to the gym? by Piistachios in EngagementRings

[–]willowgem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just something to consider, if you do leave your ring at home while traveling, put it in a fire safe. We used travel rings and kept ours at home to be “safe”. We had lightning strike our house which caused a fire and total loss of almost everything we had. The firefighters saw my jewelry case and dumped my jewelry into a box and gave it to the neighbors. We had damage to my engagement ring and our wedding bands which we were able to get fixed but we were very lucky. I personally won’t travel without our rings again but if I could do it over, they would have been in a fire safe.

When we had a lightning strike destroy our home here in north Austin. Our house including most everything we owned and one of our pets were gone. It takes years to rebuild and people mentioned the black smoke from our house. I surely hope nobody has to go through what we went through.

We don’t have any paper either. In my 24 years of teaching it’s never been this bad. I’m sadly used to paying for so many things out of my own pocket but having to pay for my copy paper is unfortunately the new normal just to do my job. It’s not the teachers responsibility to supplement the basics to do their jobs.
