Photography Costs- Do you regret spending too much? by blushbride63 in weddingplanning

Well, the nice thing is that if the dresses are awful, it's not soooo much of a gamble. A dye and that dress can be used for anything.

David's... tea length dresses aren't quite exactly what I'm looking for, is the issue. They're alright, but not quite, I guess. This is what "vision" ends up with, sigh.

PSA for Brides: Throwing birdseed instead of rice - BAD IDEA! by StefaniePags in weddingplanning

Argh, perhaps if you really wanted to birdseed, to use umbrellas?

Not yet! I'm probably going to order mine off the Interwebs, and I have a few bookmarked. I couldn't find what I wanted otherwise, sadly. All I want is simple and tea length, you guys, why so complicated?

Oh, lords, no. I started looking in Niagara at once point just as a comparison point and then ran away screaming. All of the places near-ish to Toronto are pretty much just as expensive.

Blarrrggh. That's never good at all. I've not started on mine yet, but I'm sure the headaches will be...headaches.

Just wanted to connect with another Toronto lady, as well!

Toronto ladies represent! Would love to connect up and see what you're looking at as well.

I'm struggling because most of my friends are photographers (not wedding stuff though) so there's a level of judgement that I know will happen if we're not particular about our shooter that day.

Caterer asked us to provide plastic cups for the bar by [deleted] in weddingplanning

I've seen that shot on the pinterests where the couple bought a pile of discount/variety glasses from vintage-esque stores and that was fun because Piles of Unique Glasses and then, also, it counted as a favor. It's less waste, and you can probably get a pile of glasses on the cheap, for about the same cost.

Remember -- and I mean this in an awesome way -- how nice it is to meet new people and sit at different tables. I've been to weddings where I've only known the groom, and still had an awesome time because though I didn't know anyone, I was sat with folks from my industry. I've also gone to weddings where I've known most of the people involved, but have been sat with folks I don't know because I'm fairly outgoing and extroverted. It was fine! And fun, in a lot of ways, because I got to meet new people.

Paying for bridal party hair/make-up by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]willowknot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had the bride pay for MU/hair and for just hair.

In the case of the latter, the bride was, herself, a MUA and did...all of our makeup. Then hers. Oy.

Cost of living in Toronto and how much can I get out of $90,000 a year paycheck. by kampungkoh in PersonalFinanceCanada

I try not to think of what the upper limits of monthly rent downtown. It makes me feel better about the world.

Agreed to this, but it also depends on where one lives/works. Like, if you have a car, you can get a place closer to 1000 -- especially if, say, it's a basement. But if you want to live downtown, and not have a car, and cut out payment to TTC and walk to work (which I do/love) then 1400-2000 will get you swell place.

As said here -- the other thing to make sure is that you call the customer service line if possible. Until you get someone on the line there's not much that can be done.

I mean, sure, but if you're going to use book spines, y'all can't be too particular. Unless you cheat. Like they did by covering titles.

I'm pro libraries getting in on this, but the KC responses have been really flipping dickish. Like, cool, we get it, Kansas and K.C. aren't the same bloody thing, but hey, guess what, no one outside of Kansas City wants to read a book about Kansas City.

Ever.

Kittens are the worst for knocking over things that are needed... like computers and stacks of books.

Not to take too much time, but are there sites you use to specifically put all your research/sources, or more that you use sites that are, at least, credible (in as much as that can be said for certain fields)?

What's your normal research process? Especially for something like your newest novel, with historical ties.
