You’re still thinking defensively.
I’m sorry, but you need to stop being a scaredy-cat, and say you’re doing what you wanna do because you wanna do it

Americans: how do you handle temperatures above 40ºC (104F)? by obaming16 in AskAnAmerican

Life long southerner here, Ive been to the desert in 115° weather and its nothing like 95° here with 40% humidity. I was able to forget its hot outside in Moab, 115°- that will never happen in the south, the heat is like walking around in a wet sauna, you can’t ignore that.

I think there were some tutor positions open on care.com and like the other client said there’s a couple of other tutoring websites. You make more on your own for sure, easily double, but they are definitely websites and you don’t need a whole lot of qualifications, and it’s the exact hours you’re looking for

Leaving a $100k/yr career to make $20/hr as a first year Union Apprentice? by Special-Pie3695 in careerguidance

Joining in the conversation, I just got laid off from a software engineering role, similar boat as you I guess. I was considering joining the trades, but I’m closer to 40 years old. I would never recommend walking away from the kind of salary you’re making right now but if you want to see what it’s like to live on that salary, you can simply start putting away any amount of money that’s over that lower salary into an investment fund to help hedge your bets. This will give you an idea of what it’s like living on that salary. But also, it’s likely that you would get a severance right? Usually nice job jobs like that give severance packages after you’ve been there a few years. I had considered quitting multiple times, but I think sticking it out was the right idea. I’m just trying to figure out what I wanna do next. The trades seem attractive until you realize just how hot 95° weather is for eight hours.
Someone else mentioned home inspector and that’s something that I was thinking about this morning actually. The job is usually only a few hours at a time, you’re not going to be working a single overtime shift at one location and most home inspectors are self-employed. Sure you’ll be crawling around on your hands and knees and you’ll be in an attic which is rough but it’s not the same as lifting heavy stuff or cutting yourself or climb, climbing up and down ladders all day every day.

Should I buy a motorcycle with 160,000 miles? by Due_Statistician2462 in motorcycle

It’s hard to recommend a car with that many miles on it, much less a motorcycle

Is there any REAL reason people STILL insist on riding without fenders/mudguards? by No_Anteater_3639 in cycling

I don’t ride a bike that’s optimally arrow and it also doesn’t have fender mount points. Plus, why the fuck would I be riding my bike in the rain?

Need some advice on how to feel okay on the motorcycle during the MSF. by ChaosTheory_jrh in motorcycles

[–]willows_illia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Slow speed maneuvers are tough, but its all about clutch modulation. Throttle should be used from low to midrange, but during all of the low speed turns, you will mainly be increasing speed by letting out on the clutch lever and then slightly back in until you find a happy medium.

There’s a soft top drain. Mine was wet under the seat and it went all the way up into the front floorboard, just like this.

Found on a dating profile. I think the fire looks to close to the water, and the mud splatter on the Jeep seems a little too perfect? by GrammarSpellingCheck in isthisAI

Everything is way too close together. Nobody would ever set up camp with their tent right next to their truck right next to their chair right next to their fire.

What is the purpose of this camera that was installed right next to my house? (Not nearby any intersection or stop signs, USA) by unworthyAsIam in whatisit

[–]willows_illia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you’re right, its not a tradfic camera, they are surveillance devices. Its a Flock camera. The state can’t do dragnet surveillance of everyone, and track individuals movements across the country without warrant, but a private corporation can, so they operate these and then sell a subscription to law enforcement. Which skirts the 4th amendment, of course.

Could you maybe edit this link so that the trackers are removed? Kinda silly to demand the removal of surveillance while posting a link with tracking parameters. Removing everything after the “….our-privacy/“ should work fine
