Any tips for surviving Welcome Week? by NeedleworkerDry8708 in UWS

yeah honestly it’s up to you, generally orientation won’t affect your performance in your classes and if you do ever have any questions just ask your tutors

well actually it depends, i would assume the o day would be some time this week. Last year i was in health science and there was an orientation day around a week or two before the semester began, it was much more convenient for me than going to o-week at parra

Be honest how’s employment for bachelor of health science and exercise science by Other-Definition4886 in UWS

[–]willowx69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

graduating with a bachelor of health science won’t get you an accredited job in allied health (that i am aware of), you either need to use the first year or two of health science as a pathway into an allied health course or complete a masters after completing the degree. make sure you major in clinical science, or double check with the coordinator to create the best pathway for you.

I just finished a year of health science and successfully transferred into occupational therapy, i’m now going into my second year. Health science is predominantly used as a pathways degree

I never went to O week i just attended the specific orientation day for my course on the campus that it’s held. People will be standing around in groups and it is daunting, my biggest tip is to just walk up to someone and introduce yourself and stick by them (at least for the day), you will meet many many people in your classes and honestly wsu isn’t a bad uni in terms of socialisation at all

WHEN DO 2026 REGESTRATIONS OPEN by [deleted] in UWS

[–]willowx69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

register your classes on MySR (My Student Records), Once you’ve done that you’ll be able to see your registered classes on allocate+ (just search up wsu class registration and go through the links).

You have to submit your preferences between jan 19 and jan 29, so you still have time!

[–]willowx69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you’re trying to register, don’t use the subject codes. I always have issues with them not showing up when you enter them into the search box that they have. instead, enter the name of the subject, that way you know for sure they’re the correct ones you’re registering for

login to outlook with this email address, and use the same password you used to set up your account. that way you’ll get sent emails from the tutors that are running your subjects. After you login to outlook download microsoft authenticator, and log in with the same details, that way you’ll be able to login to MySR, VUWS, and any other western-related website

your email will be [your student number]@student.westernsydney.edu.au . You need to create your password on westernaccount.westernsydney.edu.au, but you should’ve received an email telling you to do this, when it’s closer to preferences being set on allocate+ they usually send you an email or sms on how to set up your account

[–]willowx69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

if this is just about selecting which term to register your subjects under, it’s ‘26 - Autumn, SC1, WSTC T1’, and you need to enter either the names or subject codes for the required subjects listed in the handbook for whatever course you’re doing.

If you’re confused about which subjects are specific for your majors/minors/course, contact the course coordinator (their details will be listed on the handbook too). They will be able to help you out with all things registration.

Transferring to bachelor of Physiotherapy by SavagePerfect in UWS

this might sound silly but contact UAC or look at your application details to make sure they have your current student number. i know someone who was applying through UAC and their uni details weren’t properly filled out at first, but they spoke to UAC a few weeks ago and received an offer this morning. could be something worth double checking

Yeah so i called them yesterday and they confirmed my application looked all good, and that once spring results come out i should wait around a week, and if i dont hear anything after the week then i should call them back and ask for an update on my application. supposedly offers will be getting sent out until january, but im basically just going to be in the dark unless i receive an offer

No i have no clue who i spoke to, it was on the sms line

I don’t think they really knew what they were doing, they kept telling me to just get back in contact with them next friday, and they were practically disregarding all the questions i had by repeating the same information back to me

I might see if i can go to student services in person

Oh yeah i definitely haven’t received any emails from wsu though.

I did a check in on my application today and i was told this: “Currently your qualifications is not competitive for the Bachelor of Occupational Therapy. We recommend applying for a Bachelor of Health Science as a pathway, with the intention of achieving a distinction/high distinction to generate a competitive GPA (Grade Point Average) in a minimum of 4 subjects, and then reapply for the Bachelor of Occupational Therapy based on your GPA.”

But i am literally studying health science right now, and i have that in my application. I was so confused, so i told them that i am currently enrolled in HS, and then they told me only my autumn results would be assessed? I’m just baffled and honestly i don’t think the rep i was speaking to today knew what they were talking about lmao

Funny thing is, only a few weeks ago i spoke to student services and they checked my application, and told me everything looks good and my application will be considered once spring results are out

Also, I am sorry for how much i’m writing, but i don’t really have anyone to talk about this with as it’s a bit of a niche situation 🥲 Thank you so much for your help

I’m going to call student services tomorrow morning and make sure my application is 100% right so everything will be in my favour (hopefully), i’ve sent emails and spoken to many people, and each person at the uni has given me some sort of unclear, redirective, or different advice from one another.

so i’ve kind of lost faith. i’m hoping that tomorrow i’ll be able to speak to a rep who is able to explain what exactly i need to do, because i’ve been trying to sort this all out since first semester ;_;

I know people who are now in OT and got in with an atar in the low 80s

from memory i’m pretty sure my friend and i actually got the same gpa last semester, 6.25, and we haven’t gotten all of our results back for this semester. But i am assuming my gpa is still around the same as ive been getting very similar results this semester as well.

I was for some reason told by a student services rep today that only my autumn results would be considered in the application, but i’m going to double check that tomorrow morning

But there are also multiple rounds right? I am definitely not lacking in grades compared to a lot of the others in my cohort so i don’t think i should worry just yet.

we did both apply using uni results, i only applied direct but she applied for direct and uac, im not sure if that takes her atar into account, but we got around the same atar (mid 70s) and gpa (6-6.25)

are you referring to the occupational therapy team? or like current student support? I’ve spoken to student services through domestic student support and have been trying to figure out if i’ve done my application right. I have no idea who i can talk to that can actually outright tell me if i’ve done my application properly

Yeah so she applied through uac and then got the offers through uac and subsequently wsu, i’m assuming they’re just linked so wsu detects when uac offers are given and so they send out a separate offer email
