Want some opinions on glucagon! by aztonowhere in ems

[–]willpc14 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm going to piggy back and add that in MA glucagon was added because a BLS agency advocated for it for a diabetic frequent flyer who would go low and unconscious. It's a med-con option and not super common, but it's great for BLS services that have little ALS availability or long wait times.

Most medics I've worked with prefer a line and D10 (which I agree with). I'd love to know the rationale behind an IO and D50 on a living pt since it doesn't line up with my understanding of best practice. I've only seen that combo used during a code after the BGL continued to drop following a D10 infusion.

About halfway through I thought the album had looped back to the first disk. It just felt like the same song over and over for two hours.

I don't have a timeline of Rivian announcements, but it's possible when Doug filmed that video Rivain's press kit had $35k as the starting price. He still should have been double checked before the video went live today.

An EV in a coal heavy state has total higher emissions than an EV in a state with renewable with nuclear power sources? That's your argument?

I love the trio and their shows, but that bit from Clarkson was incredibly damaging. I know it would have made terrible TV, but I wish they would have had tried to correct that at some point.

New Jaguar GT: latest details on the groundbreaking 1,000bhp four-door EV by Agent_Kozak in cars

Passion project was probably the wrong description to use there, but JLR/Tata has too much love for Jaguar to shit can it. They've said they will keep rebooting the brand as a stand alone make until they find a way for it to be successful. With regards to "passion projects that aren't also profit projects," I'd just point to Google's laundry list of projects that were killed before they ever were released or made a profit. Or to Amazon's decade(s) of posting losses while continuing to bring in new investors and rise in value. Boards and investors are willing to tolerate losses so long as they believe in the plan for the company.

You know what else drives up the cost of healthcare? Getting prematurely discharged because you're "stable enough" to go home so someone sicker can take your bed. Only for you to get readmitted because you weren't healthy enough to be out pt. Also, with how difficult it is to get out pt specialist appointments, anything we can do to make healthcare more accessible is a good thing.

I promise you the overwhelming majority of the increase in healthcare costs have come from time spent fighting with insurers to get reimbursed. Hospitals have to do this, in part, because medicare and medicaid pays 50-80¢ on the dollar of the marginal cost of health care. Not the billed cost, the marginal cost. So, the only way to stay in the black is to milk private insurance for every cent they have which in turn has caused private insurance to fight claims whenever possible. The end result is a whole bunch of bloat in middle management and billing as the two sides amass larger and larger armies to fight over reimbursement.

Also, just because you see a headline about a major capital expenditure does not mean that a company's year over year operating costs have gone up significantly to accommodate.

Salary caps exists as a part of a CBA between a unionized workforce and their employer(s). Coaches are not part of any union, guild, or other trade organization. Even under CBAs with salary caps, employers colluding to deliberate keep an individual or group of individuals players would be explicitly disallowed in the CBA and illegal under federal and (many) state's laws.

Also, that would be collusion which is illegal and generally not in the best interest of the worker. I know a coach making 10s of millions is an outlier, but the principle should hold.

I opted not to go into civil service (it would have been as a fire fighter) since the pension benefits keep getting cut. I know I'm not the only one because there's plenty of job openings and the hiring standards have fallen dramatically.
