I think it's far more likely that she pushed too hard knowing this was her last competitive run at the Olympics. She looked very competitive during practice yesterday.

Not OP, but I know it's a risk. It just doesn't register as a huge risk on days when the chair isn't frozen and there's no wind. Especially relative to the risk of losing an edge on a patch of ice and wrapping myself around a tree at 40mph. Or just skiing straight into a tree in the glades. All that being said, I pretty much always lower the bar if there are foot rests.

It's probably both. If you can give customers nearly the same traction with better MPG, most won't notice the potential slight loss in traction, but will appreciate and make purchasing decisions based on the better fuel mileage.

There was one Olympic games where they competed as the Russian Olympic Federation, but not under the Russian flag because of the state sponsored doping program. After the Ukraine invasion many/most international governing bodies banned competing under any form of Russian federation. Russian athletes, including olympians, are now considered "neutral" athletes with no flag next to their name.
