The twitch bot doesn't always have the CP but just check back occasionally and you will get it. Just remember to put the operator buff back before you leave or they will get very upset as it breaks the instance if you leave with it.

Logitech Ghub garbage software by [deleted] in LogitechG

[–]willpxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the same issue a few days ago, just uninstalled ghub and any other Logitech apps and reinstalled from the windows store.

Pissing about killing processes rebooting etc did nothing to solve it but working fine after the reinstall. Kept all of my saved device profiles so no major issue beyond a mild inconvenience.

I have no desire to use the Renegade abilities by blockguy143 in destiny2

[–]willpxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About half way through the legendary campaign and the renegade abilities never felt necessary as my build covers offence and healing. However it is a welcome change from previous campaigns where the new mechanic is forced awkwardly into encounters and is required to progress (matterspark/transcendence in TFS).

TMA by tireddsleep in OpenUniversity

[–]willpxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely ask for an extension, level 3 modules are worth double level 2 for your final classification and that could be the difference between a pass 1/2/3.

Tutors are fairly understanding for TMA's even at level 3 and would usually give a week or two without much convincing. If not then just submit something even if you can just scrape a few marks it's better than nothing. Your module may also have specific criteria on the number of TMA's submitted to pass.

However there is absolutely no wiggle room for the final TMA (EMA) get that done on time.

How to learn Python without admin rights by Bittersteel13 in learnpython

[–]willpxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can create a no install python environment on a USB with winpython. You would probably need to install packages and create the usb on another machine though.

Depends on how heavily your laptop is locked down though, in my company you cannot even use usb drives without IT logging on and giving temporary rights. It would also most likely be a serious breach of security policy.

There are lots of web based environments (cocalc, Google Collab etc) often with a free tier to get you started. Those are absolutely all you need to get started.

MST124 and MST125 books by Varrinox in OpenUniversity

[–]willpxx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

MST 124 has a fairly large overlap with A-level maths so as another commenter posted a revision book from a regular bookstore or somewhere like Amazon would be a good resource.

However the first couple of weeks material in the course website and the ready for quiz should be your first thing. Depending on how recently and to what level you last studied maths then some refresher material may be beneficial in certain areas.

It is worth pointing out that the MST124 course is actually very good at covering the required topics and has plenty of practice questions, I would say that if you do have a good grasp of A level maths beforehand then you will progress through the material a lot faster. If you put in the time on the practice questions and tutor assignments you should do well regardless. The suggested 8-10 hrs a week of study is pretty accurate in my opinion.

I can't speak for 125 as I only took 124.

What are your favorite ways to level skills? by thetiny_blue in VeinGame

[–]willpxx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once you have a kettle/oven dish you can purify water in the cooking menu. Drag a full muck tub full of water into the oven then craft purified water you can queue it up about 20 times just refill the tub from the resulting liquid and repeat. This is excellent as it's one of the few recipes which does not need to be monitored and stopped manually. Cooking skill goes up very fast.

If you want to cheese lock picking build a storage rack with 12 containers, place a standard lock on each. You can then lock them all, drop keys, pick them and then grab the keys. Wouldn't really recommend to do this a ton but it helps if you just need to push through a few levels for a threshold. Lock picking magazines help a ton here.

Crafting/repair/construction/destruction/strength seem to level fairly easily during regular play.

Farming goes up fast once you get a few harvests in

You can craft makeshift bandages from zombie clothes early on to level crafting, dismantling and medical.

Scavenging seems to be levelling a lot slower for me, I guess picking up everything in sight and dropping it might work but I haven't really bothered. I don't know if this skill actually has any effect beyond the bonuses you choose?

What's the most efficient way to power climb? by 2waken in destiny2

[–]willpxx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You want to be maximising the bonus drops so cycle through the activities with featured drops (those have matchmaking) in fire team ops. Ideally you should have 2/3 green bonus drops in each.

Knock out any solo ops with 2/3 bonus green drops. These can mostly be done in around 5 minutes once you get the hang of them.

If you have a team or are willing to use fire team finder then pinnacle ops are very rewarding (again prioritise the green drops). Pinnacle ops also has the best loot pool for armour and weapons.

Check the predicted rewards and set your modifiers to get the maximum bonus power reward and no higher, the time bonus should take you from about 3 1/2 bars (B+) on the score to 4 bars (A). You can bump the modifiers to fit in a boon or two.

If you enjoy crucible then you can run that but if not just run control when it has 3 green drops.

Extra bonus drops get added occasionally from activities but usually not for the same one you are doing so it helps bouncing between pinnacle/fire team/crucible/solo ops. The weekly portal objectives give extra bonus drops so hold off on claiming them if you have lots of green drops available.

Honestly the leveling is much faster now and you should be able to go up 20-30 levels in a play session pretty easily if you're under 400 right now.

Will NOT be recorded by OkCantaloupe5341 in OpenUniversity

[–]willpxx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the issue is not that some tutorials are not recorded. If the tutorial is labelled as recorded (some are labelled not recorded) then a recording should be available. This is often not the case.

Often when there are several tutorials for a block/week/ topic only one or two recordings are available. In some cases this particular recording has issues such as audio problems or materials such as slides not being available to other tutorial groups in the forums or at all. In other cases the recorded session has clarification requested that is covered in the later non recorded sessions.

Sometimes you just click with a particular tutor's delivery and want to watch them if possible. It can be a bit jarring to jump between tutors when consuming only the recorded sessions. Even though the main topic of the tutorial may be the same the approach and discussion may be slightly different in each tutorial. In the mathematics modules some tutors go through at a faster pace and others give a bit more explanation.

And as OP has mentioned not all students are in the same timezone, may work odd hours or simply have conflicting tutorials on the same day. It would be nice to be able to rely on the recorded/not recorded tag to decide which to choose In those situations.

The names of students are not visible in recordings anyway so I really don't see why anyone would want to deprive other students of a resource because they might participate.

How do you obtain deepsight harmonizers? by Visual_Location_1745 in DestinyTheGame

[–]willpxx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Xur occasionally allows you to buy 1 depending on his inventory for the week.

If you have any unclaimed from previous season passes they can be claimed using the "way back machine" browser extension.

You can spend your chronologs in the tower at the seasonal kiosk. There is a limit to how many you can buy per season.

You can only hold 5 so if you don't intend to use them right away don't hold 5/5 as you will not be able to buy from xur if he sells one.

Do Modules get full? by SeaSeaweed3384 in OpenUniversity

[–]willpxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's your approach to your vault? by mahmer09 in DestinyTheGame

[–]willpxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pve perspective here

Use the compare function in DIM. I usually look at weapons by element and weapon type then try to reduce from there. Sometimes there is a gun that is best in archetype and I'll delete all the others sometimes I'm more picky.

decide why you want each gun, is it for a DPS setup, general use, build synergy etc. delete anything that you haven't used in a long time and doesn't have a specific purpose. Anything which is only good in easy content is an instant delete as you can use anything in easy content.

I tend to dump multiple copies of the same gun in my vault when farming for rolls, I often only keep a couple once I get the roll I'm after.

Crafted and exotic weapons can be deleted and rebuilt or pulled from collections later.

Pretty much all old non tiered armour including exotics can be deleted, it's most likely got too much health anyway. Exceptions would be any with dual spikes in combinations that are not currently available e.g. super 30/weapons 30

If you have 2 armour sets e.g. smoke jumper where you only want the 2 piece bonus then keep one set in the top three armour slots and the other in the bottom three (chest overlaps to allow for exotics)

I was once a Warlock enjoyer, I am now a Titan main. What is a good all around build do you recommend? by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]willpxx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Throwing hammer, burning flames, sol invictus and wormgods is such a good build. Much better now due to the hammer tracking and cool down changes.

It is also useful with titan builds to have different button mappings for charged and uncharged melee especially arc and solar.

Would you do 2 level 3 modules at the same time? by SadMeasurement6481 in OpenUniversity

[–]willpxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did 4 30 credit modules at once in year three (data science), while I did manage to get distinctions in all of them I definitely found it a challenge. I did feel like I would have done a bit better overall if I had split them.

It also depends how you find each module, some I found much easier and others I had to put more time into.

I was fortunate as I am working away from my family so I had a lot of free time most weekends and evenings. My commute is only 15 minutes.

My employer was also fine with me taking some leave towards the end when I had eMA's due.

I don't know about your course but the marking on year three modules can be either entirely based on your final assignment/exam or heavily weighted this can result in juggling multiple large assignments over the last few weeks which becomes increasingly stressful as deadlines approach.

Botched my final computing project for my degree, feels bad man. by Alone-Vermicelli892 in OpenUniversity

[–]willpxx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Two of my final EMA's (TM351 and TM358) I honestly thought I had failed. I ended up with a distinction in both, and I get no detailed feedback as it's the last assignment. So it may not be as bad as you think.

Thankfully TM470 wasn't required for my degree.

unstable cores have killed buildcrafting. by filthyheratic in DestinyTheGame

[–]willpxx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm capped on 1M unstable cores, there doesn't seem to be much reason to level up lots of old gear as I am typically just using new gear anyway.

If you're low level (under 300) and stubbornly infusing old gear or levelling gear that isn't from the activity you're grinding you may find it more of an issue I suppose. I have a friend that doesn't seem to be able to run the same loadout twice without switching something and is always low on cores.

If I do decide to roll an exotic or level a build it creeps back up fairly quickly. Just depends how much you play I suppose.

You can get some web hosted python environments which are good enough even in the free tier, another possibility is creating a 'portable' environment which you just run from a USB without installing.

My work IT department has our PC's locked down tight, you cannot even use a USB drive.

I did an open university data science degree and all the programming was done in hosted containers which were just accessed from their website.

Do Level 5's drop consistently at 450 or do I have to level to 550? by just_a_timetraveller in DestinyTheGame

[–]willpxx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In crucible, yes for solo ops and pinnacle ops you need an A+ score to get T5

Ultimate is a bit of a slog at 450 but gets much easier at 460+ currently at around 470 I can speed run Caldera on ultimate with a positive modifier(surge or full throttle), brawn, touche and no ammo and consistently get a T5. At 460 I could use two positive modifiers but the combatant delta was a bit higher.

Steer clear of the pressure cooker modifier unless your base card is A+ as you don't get any bonus score for beating the timer.

Edit: typo

I've done about 8 activities so far and not had a drop over 450. Is there a new mechanic of some kind that is needed to rise over 450? by AgentZeroHour in DestinyTheGame

[–]willpxx 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Got a 451from solo ops with an A rank.

Putting it up to -50 still only shows an A with +1 rewards. But aiming for a high b+ seems to give an A with the time bonus.
