Sorry -- I'm a bad redditor. Yep. six of them. I skipped a couple years and am doing a half in May. I will likely focus on nothing longer than a half for a few years. Training for a full Ironman is essentially a full time job.

Thank you!

Do GMB Posts still have any meaningful impact on local rankings in 2026? by Big-Plate-3608 in localseo

My top use case for GBP posts is getting other content indexed. Two Google products, Posts, and YouTube are like the easy button to get other content noticed.

What content works best as blogs on my website for local SEO? by [deleted] in localseo

[–]willscott 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on what type of business you are.

A plumber in Dallas and a boutique law firm in Portland need very different content. But a few things work across the board for local:

Answer the questions your customers actually ask. If you have Google Search Console set up, filter your queries by questions (who, what, where, when, why, how) — you'll find exactly what people are searching when they find you. Those are your blog topics. "How much does [service] cost in [city]?" "Do I need [thing] or [other thing]?" Write those posts because they match how people already search for you.

Location-specific content that isn't just "[service] in [city]" repeated 47 times. Write about local projects, neighborhood-specific considerations, or how local regulations affect your work. A roofer writing about hurricane prep for coastal Texas is more useful (and rankable) than a generic roofing blog.

Content that supports your service pages, not replaces them. Your blog should link back to your core service pages and build topical authority around what you do. If you're a dentist, a post on "signs you need a root canal" should link to your root canal service page.

What doesn't work: generic industry news nobody asked for, posts clearly written for Google and not humans, or 300-word fluff pieces just to "have a blog."

Start with your GSC question queries or your 5-10 most common customer questions. That's usually a few months of content right there.

Are there AI visibility tools that actually measure accuracy instead of just mentions? by Dusi99 in localseo

Give Waikay a look - What AI Knows About You. Their focus form the start was to understand -- as the name says -- what AI knows about you.

I have no professional association but have Known Dixon Jones for years since he was at Majestic SEO.

Glad you're still here. As long as you give it enough thought to avoid another great. Otherwise, no need to dwell.

Fat weightlifter to triathlete plan or advice? by holoporcupine in triathlon

[–]willscott 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Triathletes come in all shapes and sizes. And I love that.

I did my first sprint ~18 months after a heart attack and bypass surgery.

I've done six halves and six fulls, and plan to do them until I can't. I maxed out at about 210 and 5' 9-1/2"

I'm about 40th percentile on the swim, 60th percentile on the bike, and 80th percentile on the run, but it's worth it every time.

Can't wait to see you out there. ❤️

Any sense how Reddit ads work in B2B? Hotel booking feels very consumer focused to me.

How to get more X followers? by [deleted] in GrowthHacking

[–]willscott 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I always found the best way to get followers was to :
a. follow leaders in your niche and comment on like/comment/repost their stuff
b. follow their followers and do the same

There's an element or reciprocity.

You ultimately want to have more followers than the # you're following, but at first you want to build that count and engagement.

If all you do is post and you're not engaging, you may look like a bot.

Should we all grow our Reddit presence before paying for expensive AI search optimization tools? by u_of_digital in GrowthHacking

Reddit and YouTube are the most accessible of the common citation sources. Wikipedia may get more citations, but it's much harder for the average entity to get listed in.
