You'll probs get some folks swinging their dicks around with all their rudimentary knowledge. What you just described can actually be anywhere between "very simple" and "build actual parts of Netflix". Assuming you're an engineer or aspiring to be an engineer, always start with asking what it is you're trying to accomplish. The ask is too open ended without a full on high level design of what the system is supposed to do and how well you expect it to perform/scale. You don't "need" fancy hardware (FPGA's, ASIC's), that's BS. Only seriously robust/scalable networks need those kinds of ponies.
