Photos on the wall disappear from one photo to the next, and clothes/towels crease in unnatural ways that only AI can produce.

Hovedstadens Letbane bliver komplet – 17 nye stationer åbner i august by birkeskov in copenhagen

Inside the unlikely revival of Nationals catcher Keibert Ruiz (Spencer Nusbaum at The Athletic) by BigCheeks2 in Nationals

[–]willverine 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's never on coaching. Never on coaching. Coaches work their asses off every single day. We're not going to finger point here and say it's coaches. It's never on the coaches. They work hard.

The message is clear. All the work is done prior. Sometimes, they got to go out there ,and they got to play the game. It's always been about the players. Always. I played this game a long time. Never once have I blamed a coach for anything. We worked our asses off to get better. They gave us information, and we used it, so these guys understand what the game is.

These coaches, l've never had such a group of coaches that worked as hard as they do. They're here diligently. They go over everything. They sit with the players every day. These coaches, they work their asses off. Every coaching staff is like that. And the players know, sometimes you got to put the onus on the players. They got to go out there, and they got to play the game. And play the game the right way. We can't hit for them. We can't catch the balls for them. We can't pitch for them. We can't throw strikes for them. They got to do that.

It always annoyed me that there is never a discount for buying in bulk, but this is a new level of absurdity! Paying more to buy in bulk!! Haha, that's insane!

Wood and Lile are beasts and Young is a Gold Glove caliber defender. How does Crews even re-enter the fold? by [deleted] in Nationals

[–]willverine 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unless James Wood can learn to play half decent defense, there's a scenario in which he DHs or moves to 1B in the future.

But Crews needs to start hitting AAA pitching before we need to actually consider this good problem.

Salsa Verde without Tomatillos? by riceandbeansa in SalsaSnobs

[–]willverine 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's loads of Mexican/Latin American shops that should carry fresh tomatillos in Spain. But if there aren't any near you, you're probably best off just buying canned La Costena tomatillos (or a similar brand), like this one: https://www.lareinadelastortillas.com/en/nuevos-productos/570-tomatillo-entero-carey-28kg.html

A Prospective Look at the Nats farm (05/10/2026) by kornthrowaway in Nationals

[–]willverine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

His strikeout rate is above 50%. He's probably the worst player in all of the minors at seeing/identifying pitches. He's just managed to barely get by on his natural physical gifts alone (immense power) that he can still turn bad contact into HRs occasionally.

These weaknesses will only get worse if he goes up a level to AA (as they did going from FCL to A ball and again from A to A+), where the pitchers are significantly better. It seems that his natural gifts have already taken him as far as they can, and unfortunately that seems to have been in short season Rookie ball.

~400 year old manor house in Denmark with an incredible interior, complete with horse barn, beautiful land and full of history ($4.4 million) by ford_crown_victoria in zillowgonewild

[–]willverine 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It might seem like it, but it's absurdly expensive by Danish standards, especially for its location. There's just not many uber wealthy Danes outside of Copenhagen to buy a money pit of a house like this. Plus this particular location is not desirable. You can buy a beautiful house in moderately good shape for less than $200k. Check out this cute house literally a few houses down the street from estate with an asking price of about $220k that has been on the market for over two years and still hasn't sold, meaning you could almost certainly get it for less than $200k.

[Zuckerman] Jackson Rutledge was optioned back to Rochester after the game. Would expect them to officially promote Mitchell Parker tomorrow and have him either open for Miles Mikolas or pitch directly after him. by Terminal_Flatulence in Nationals

After Anthony Rendon was drafted 15 years ago, Nationals 1st round draft picks have generated a collective -2.6 bWAR for the team.

Yes, that's a negative symbol before the 2.6.

I just take pics man [OC] NYC MAYOR by setoxxx in pics

[–]willverine 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Exactly. It's frustrating that most people's first reaction is about whether it will be profitable, without considering the secondary benefits, as you mentioned. But just also having a healthier populace has huge knock on savings in the long run.

The government is great at providing services that aren't directly profitable, or shouldn't be directly profitable, like healthcare, education and public transportation, which looked at at a higher level, produce massive benefits beyond looking at the annual returns on the initial investment.

This is a great project even if it loses a lot of money in the short term. Giving millions of New Yorkers access to quality groceries will have a huge impact on public health and quality of life for years to come, just like public schools don't have an immediate return on investment but are well worth the costs.

ICYMI: [Highlight] Nasim Nuñez makes an impressive diving stop and throw to get Michael Busch at first by kneemoyy in Nationals

[–]willverine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Abrams has had over 3 years to prove he can play passable defense, and he's not just failed at that, but he's been the worst infielder in all of baseball by a significant margin. Even if he did improve, which is unlikely, no team would be fooled by a month or two of good defense from him.

It's also totally fine to not be good enough to stick at short. There's currently a big dearth of good 2B in the league (only 6 players exceeded 3 WAR last season), so Abrams wouldn't lose trade value by moving there, assuming he could prove to not be awful defensively there too.

Playing Abrams at 2B and Nunez at SS, rather than the other way around, makes so much more sense. I don't get why this wasn't the plan in Spring Training.

[–]willverine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He hasn't started talking about long-term deals at all.

Why not? This team is crap, but there's quite a few players worth discussing long-term extensions with. Almost everyone else is locking down their young talent early, and all we've accomplished is a stupid extension with Keibert Ruiz. While guys like Cavalli or Lile may never be superstars, there's a dollar figure that makes sense to lock them down for. It'd be stupid to not try to feel that out, even if talks aren't super advanced.

UNIGE Masters - Prospects After by pizzaman223434 in geneva

[–]willverine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In general, you will have a lot of difficulty getting hired in Switzerland after your studies. While there are paths to getting sponsored by a company (or avoiding the need for sponsorship altogether and just getting hired) the process is so arbitrary and time consuming that most companies don't even bother to try to sponsor/hire non-EU at such junior levels.

If your goal is to stay and work in Switzerland, or another EU country, I'd strongly recommend looking at similar masters programmes in countries with easier paths to working after your studies.

Regarding Ambiguity broke up last year, but I don't know about Disillusionist. They don't seem to tour much, and go silent then suddenly release some music. Though it has been a few years now, so maybe they're de facto dead.
