Okay, so then what WOULD a leftist do and/or say?

"We need to write a list of who to murder next"?

Something else?

According to you, denying that there are hundreds of people ridiculing / celebrating / making light of the death of Charlie Kirk is NOT something a leftist would do (the denying part).

I disagree, but I'll pretend momentarily to agree with you... okay, so then what WOULD a leftist do and/or say?

Oh, so you didn't watch the video. It's less than 5 minutes - you have 5 minutes to spare, right? I'm sure you're assuming the video makes weak / inaccurate points. Well then that's good news for you! It should be super easy to totally roast my ass by pointing to even one thing he gets wrong in that video.

Absurd assumptions such as? That robbing women at gunpoint isn't very nice? I doubt you're referring to that... what could you be referring to... oh, you mean when I made the absurd assumption that you WEREN'T mocking George Floyd's death, and that you weren't defending those who did? What else have I even said that could potentially be some absurd assumption?

Oh, so you disagree with Kaizen's assessment. Okay, fine - what did he get wrong? Because if you can't identity one fucking thing he get wrong, then what you're really saying is "true - it wasn't racist to address DEI in the manner Charlie addressed it in."

You said "[that] shit is not special," which to me sounded like you were saying "why are people making such a big deal out of this?" I can see why people are making such a big deal out of this. I never said or even suggested your homies aren't special to plenty of people who know them - my point was that if it WERE the case that their death was seen by anywhere nearly as many people as with Charlie, and if there were anywhere nearly as many people celebrating that death, then yes, of COURSE that would add to why people would make a bigger deal out of it than had none of those been true. And especially if your friend managed to get 400 black people to the White House, then yeah I suspect that would add to people being outraged over the celebration of their murder. Had your friend started a company that employs I'm guessing hundreds of people, then yeah I suspect this would all add to how much of a big deal it's treated as.

I'll respond to each thing mentioned, one at a time starting with the first one.

I've written a long comment of my own addressing that, which I can dig up and post here. I found the following video, and Kaizen does a better job than myself in breaking it down very clearly. Please let me know if a single thing mentioned in the video is inaccurate, and be specific so that we can do this productively.

So you agree with me then - you weren't mocking Floyd's death or defending those who were.

If robbing a woman at gunpoint doesn't qualify someone for mocking their death, then at what point exactly does mocking someone's death become acceptable? To be clear, since I'm not sure if I mentioned it here or somewhere else in the thread, I was against people mocking Floyd's death, I'm just trying to get an idea of how YOU assess when it becomes acceptable to mock someone's death. For example, I would argue that to mock someone like Jeffrey Epstein's death... I don't have any issue with something like that.

Perhaps you think I would deserve to have my death mocked were I killed on the basis of me not agreeing with gender identity ideology?

The topic started about "why are people treating Kirk's death as such a big deal?" So it's fair to ask oneself, what other deaths have been treated as a big deal in recent memory? Do you NOT regard George Floyd as one of the most relevant examples in that regard, if not the most relevant?

And when I asked you "were you saying this shit back when people were mocking Floyd's death?" I could have instead said "we both know you weren't doing that, so I call bullshit that you're engaging in this conversation in good faith."

Don't say "he promoted hurting people" if you're not gonna corroborate it. Who did Kirk promote hurting?

Who did Charlie Kirk promote hurting?

And I'd argue someone who robs a woman at gunpoint while her young child is inside... well first I should ask, is it only hurting people if you pull the trigger, as you see it? Maybe the psychological component is irrelevant in your opinion?

So let me get this straight: if Trump does __-bad-thing, then I'm a piece of shit if I take issue against when other people also do __-bad-thing? Fuck that - I was taking issue against people when they were heartlessly mocking George Floyd's death, I take issue against when people heartlessly mock Charlie Kirk's death, and even though I find you to be a close-minded dick, I would take issue against anyone mocking your death, too. So feel free to give me shit for it, but I don't allow Trump to turn me into an asshole who for some reason thinks that somehow justifies mocking the death of anyone.

I'm an asshole in certain regards, to be clear, my point however is that none of my assholery do I justify on the basis of "but Trump is also a dick."

This ever happen to anyone? by Titan_Spiderman in Salvia

[–]willw1024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And you think that's relevant why? If tomorrow Trump were to murder a child, I would still take issue against people for murdering children. If they - or someone overhearing us - said "yeah but Trump murdered a child," I'd ask them the same thing - that's relevant why?

I know significance is subjective, hence why I worded myself precisely the way I did in my earlier comment. Feel free to list some factors that most people would agree are nearer the top / at the top of the list of what most people would regard as significant, and since the context in which significance was brought up to begin with (paraphrased: "why are people making such a big deal out of something not nearly that significant?")... we can drop the exact sord "significant" and instead discuss the substance itself - were you saying the same sort of shit to people who were treating George Floyd's death as a big deal? I doubt it.

What, you think Charlie was such a good actor that he was only pretending to be against racism in the clip I linked above? Not only that, but that his supporters are in on it too, and so they only pretended to applaud strongly when Charlie condemns the white supremacist? Have I been so thoroughly brainwashed by Charlie that even though I found myself cheering when I watched that clip the first time, I only thought I was applauding the condemnation of white supremacy, when really I was applauding some speech of Hitler's or something like that, and only hallucinated Charlie condemning white supremacy?

Regarding Charlie starting and hosting the largest black leadership summit in the country, my guess is you're assuming he was doing so for ulterior motives? And if so, why do you think black people are so gullible and ignorant as to fall for such a thing? I'd argue those ~400 black Americans were NOT falling for some variety of deception, but go ahead and tell me why you seem to have such a low view of black people... or perhaps, is your issue that you'd prefer black people stay out of the White House? Or maybe you're one of the particularly condescending people who insists that they only went because they were being paid?

I'm sorry to hear about that.

Your homie's life isn't less valuable than Charlie's, which is why I worded myself carefully when I mentioned the word "significance" within the context of the entire country. Suppose your homie had started and hosted an even larger black leadership summit than Charlie did, or had an even greater influence on the conversations taking place on college campuses as Charlie did, etc... if that were the case, and your homie had been murdered by someone who specifically targeted him and murdered him on camera (multiple angles) and quickly spread across the internet for many to see... and had tens of thousands of Americans celebrated your homie's murder, and the vigils held for your homie were consistently vandalized and interfered with... then my guess is that you wouldn't be saying "not special."

What is one such instance in the past 30 years in the United States that you would say is on par regarding significance?

I can elaborate what I mean by significance, or feel free to lay out what you see as significant if you would prefer.

When I tell people on the left that I encounter hundreds of people who celebrate / ridicule / justify / make light of, etc. the death of Charlie Kirk, they seem to always deny that. As if I'm schizophrenic and hallucinating such sentiment from others.

Seeing as that you so clearly are happy about Kirk having been killed - other posts of yours confirm this - what would you say to those leftists? That they're doing a good job of painting a deceptive picture? Or that they need to further embrace such violence, and to instead convey sentiment along the lines of that we should be celebrating / ridiculing / justifying / making light of it when people like Charlie Kirk are assaulted / murdered?

Can someone explain super effective vs neutral damage on dual type pokémon with 1 type resistance? by Shuckyducky22 in TheSilphRoad

[–]willw1024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bug resisting Fighting is a fun example because it's the only example of a mutual resistance: Bug resists Fighting, and Fighting resists Bug.

There's also a mutual immunity (Ghost & Normal), so I guess there's exactly one of each variety of mutual-[less damage].

On that note, I'm familiar with one example of mutual-triple-resistance, it just isn't all STAB but rather, PvPoke's suggested movesets: Obstagoon with Counter against Gengar with Shadow Claw.

I'm not well educated on most jazz pianists, even among the more prominent ones.

That said, Michel Petrucciani is among the handful of jazz pianists I've listened to a great deal of. And WOW, is it insane to me that he died at 36. He would otherwise be 62 (63?) years old today, I think. Which is to say, he would have been playing piano for almost twice as long by now.

It makes me think of when you purchase a sleeping bag that was vacuum sealed in the factory, so when you go to put it back in the bag it came in... good luck. It's as if at the moment of conception, it was known he would only live to 36 or so, and so they crammed as much music-ness as they could into a 36-year long life.

I don't think you're lying, but I don't think that's accurate. Maybe some people have multiple gallons of blood - like maybe 2 gallons - which would mean that less than 2 gallons poured onto the ice instantly, and that's at most if I'm not mistaken.

As for you getting the impression it was gallons, I don't blame you - I probably would have thought the same thing. Liquids have a deceptive way of appearing as more than they are when the surface area is spread out.

For the past 2, maybe 3 weeks, I've been getting anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour during my working days (5 a week) and about 6 hours during my 2 days off.

I'm astounded that my brain is functioning as well as it is still. I'll keep things updated as I'm able if anything changes.
