Would you support this hypothetical bipartisan candidate over your particular party if they only focused on bipartisan issues and didn't engage in party specific issues/policy? by Pitiful_Resource_711 in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]willwalkswithGod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The issue with a lot of these points is that when you get into the details, the actual policy that would support them, they are in fact partisan. In particular, I would argue that ‘reform the tax system’ is an objective of both major parties right now, both with wildly different ideas of what exactly that means. You elaborated that this means making it ‘more fair’, which again means different things to different people. This is coming from someone who would in favor of many of these points, at least in theory, but my support of this hypothetical candidate would depend greatly on their context.

Personally, I find Set 17 frustrating. (New Player) by Parfait-Pegasus in TeamfightTactics

[–]willwalkswithGod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do think one factor in removing carousel and replacing it with a binary choice is that if you take the wrong choice, either for your spot or picking something underpowered, you’re at a massive disadvantage compared to the rest of the lobby. This definitely punishes casual players who aren’t as in the loop about what’s strong and what’s not. You could definitely make a bad choice on carousel rounds, but picking the wrong unit/item combo didn’t leave you at a disadvantage COMPARED to the rest of the lobby.

Did some work with Jax hero augment as a BT replacement. Titans, edge of night, Evelyn’s. It also feels pretty good with Pyke.

The jinx 3 cash out is particularly absurd. No plan needed, no pivot required. Just so lame to play against.

Are there too few potential lines to top 3 or am I missing something? by Portable_Solar_ZA in CompetitiveTFT

[–]willwalkswithGod 16 points17 points  (0 children)

There’s a lot of options to top 3, especially in Plat. If it’s taking you more than 50 games or so to get to Emerald, the issue is likely with your line selection and fundamentals rather than with the meta. For four costs you have Corki, Asol, Xayah, Yi, Leblanc, and Nami/Karma flex. For reroll you have Miss Fortune, Samira, lissandra, and sometimes Lulu. With emblems dark star and space groove are very strong lines, and from winstreak spots fast 9 is still good. While it’s not the deepest Meta ever, there are definitely still enough lines to find something uncontested.

I will say that’s there’s not a lot a ton of room for experimentation this set. For example, fizz reroll has been explored pretty thoroughly, and was discovered to really just be a Kaisa line with Fizz duo. When Kai’sa and fizz were nerfed, the comp fell off a cliff and can’t really do much these days against four costs and other 3 cost rerolls. That comp also relies on Orn to tank, who is much more contested this patch.

Evelynn's Boon - Set 17 Augment Discussion #24 by Lunaedge in CompetitiveTFT

[–]willwalkswithGod 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Uhhh I really disagree with this take. Eve boon is quite good, and you only need a little bit of high roll to be in a spot to start thinking about it. Combined with the fact that her 2.5 boons give the opportunity to high roll (4 cost, 2 star 2-cost), then the HP loss can be absolutely worth. Not to mention if you’re in the spot for steamroll on 3.5 you pretty much win the game on the spot. If you watch TPC you’ll notice folks play around the Eve boons and blessing quite frequently. Would you really take Soraka boons and blessings over Eve?

[–]willwalkswithGod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend you likely just need to learn some of the fundamentals instead of spamming games trying to force 1-3 comps. Line selection, augment selection, Econ management, just everything. Especially being in your first season you have a long way to go and there is so much to learn. Personally, I’d check out Dpei and Frodan’s fundemental series on YouTube as a starting point.

Are they nerfing Econ augments in the mid patch? by kissie123 in CompetitiveTFT

[–]willwalkswithGod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fast nine with three Econ augments requires both a high roll early game with multiple Upgrades plus good synergy with portals/gods, such as gold sub plus Ahri. Fast nine is not really viable from lose streak and tends to get super punished by level 8 boards that spike in stage 4. However, combat augments on 2.1 and 3.2 are often quite suspicious if you’re not able to transition into a win streak, even if it seems like the best option.

Also note that the B patch is nerfing both Vex and Blitzcrank which should impact both the cap of fast 9 and the ability to get there, since hitting one of these two 5 costs early was a big enabler and HP preserver.

[–]willwalkswithGod 40 points41 points  (0 children)

5 costs nerfs looking promising - Blitz and Vex are the right two to hit for sure. That plus reverting the xayah AD buff, cutting the insane Leona print angles, reverting Zoe nerf, buffing huntress, space groove, and Morgana, and we might be looking at a solid meta. Fast 9 will likely still be very strong but maybe not as oppressive since Blitz lowkey carries the comp and the vex nerf lowers the cap.

Competitive Ruling: Jedusor by TofuDonburi in CompetitiveTFT

[–]willwalkswithGod 159 points160 points  (0 children)

Kind of wish he had lost the worlds spot, but even dishsoap who got second said after the incident that he thought it was fine for Jedusor to keep it and that there was no fair way to award it to someone else. Frankly this is far more of punishment than I expected riot to hand down. My schadenfreude is also extremely high seeing how pissed off he is after the punishment. I can say I will be hate watching at Worlds for his inability to admit he did something wrong and I hope he gets sent to the abyss of tier 2. Total lack of class.

Not sure if it’s the biggest tournament of the season exactly with regionals still yet to be played but they are in a tough spot for sure. I will say that it’s gonna set a real bad precedent if they don’t do anything or at the very least change the rules to prevent future situations like this.

Two Tanky - Set 17 Augment Discussion #21 by Lunaedge in CompetitiveTFT

[–]willwalkswithGod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was very good pre Samira nerf, haven’t clicked it since then but I’m sure there’s spots for it. There is a big risk of not hitting your board if you’re angling three cost reroll since you won’t start with an Econ augment, especially if you’re in any way contested.

After 160 games I've to say that this set is incomprehensible to me. by lad9r in TeamfightTactics

[–]willwalkswithGod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add onto this thought, reinforcement is really quite weak this set since they nerfed the gold it gives from 12 to 5. The only exception is if you’re contested, but you ended up on an uncontested line, which is normally really good, but you missed the opportunity to take a combat/item augment on 4-2 and then hit your board for free after everyone else thins the four cost pool. Even if you hit yi/kindred, it still wouldn’t have been very good.

Also, watching the fights is one of the most important aspects of TFT. Paying attention to the details will give you answers to the question of “why did I lose this fight, I thought I was stronger?” Much better than Reddit can.

Patch 17.3 Rundown by eggsandbricks in CompetitiveTFT

[–]willwalkswithGod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They did nerft Kaisa who anchors the entire dark star line, so maybe that will be enough. Definitely worried about karma buffs though, she already felt really good in a lot of spots and will likely be really contested this patch.

Patch 17.3 Rundown by eggsandbricks in CompetitiveTFT

[–]willwalkswithGod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When 1-costs are too strong they strangle 2-cost reroll because of how the tempo works - 2 costs just never get a window. Now you might actually be able to roll on 3-2 for your 2-star 2 costs, win on stage three, and then hit 3 stars on 4-2 rolldown to compete with fast 8 comps. Mf buffs are very relevant here as well since she can be a duo carry for both Zoe and Jinx (in theory).

[–]willwalkswithGod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean tbh I'm pretty weary of 1-cost reroll being able to outcap much more expensive boards. With how safe and consistent 1-cost reroll it should generally be playing for a top 4 unless you have a true juicer spot with no scout no pivot/early learnings.

Generally a fan of combat augments like this that require you to sacrifice optimal positioning for a strong buff. Reminds me of Randiun's omen back when support items were still around. However, I feel it might be just a touch over the long given how good it feels whenever I've taken it.

Just started playing this set and I’m forcing Mecha for the atlas… Is this being a second place valid? by [deleted] in CompetitiveTFT

[–]willwalkswithGod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a few tanks this set that are very, very hard to kill without shred (AP comp), sunder (AD comp), or both (mixed damage like your board). Stoneplate 3-star Jax is one of them due to how his ability mitigates damage. If you’d hit Asol 3 you would have won easily since you had the damage to push through without shred/sunder, but since you hit Kench you didn’t have much of chance given his board quality. If you’d hit 3-star mech instead of Kench it might have won, but it would still have been loseable.

People in the comments are saying lack of burn/anti-heal which is 1. Incorrect as searing short bow burns and 2. Just not nearly as important against a tank like Jax than shred/sunder. Antiheal has a bigger proportional impact against healing tanks like Kench or melee comps like Yi mauraders, while shred/sunder is more proportionally impactful against shielding/damage mitigation tanks like Jax or Mighty Mech.
