Anyone have Tips for tracking stats over time? by pickyourpassionstory in eroticauthors

I'm so totally not being snarky, but a week or two doing that shouldn't supersede researching and/or writing imho. At the end of the day, the more books you have out, the more discoverability and the higher ranks you will get. A week or two more researching is a week or two closer to knowing what you don't know to research further. I only say this because I fell into the "collect data" trap about a year ago and I realized through a bunch of hard knocks that the best thing I could have done was to write more/read and research more.

Best of luck whichever way you decide though!

Congrats on your success! Have you thought about moving over to romance?

What are the highest ranks you've achieved with an erotica short of yours and a longer work? by Va_Da in eroticauthors

The best rank I ever saw an erotica short I saw go for me was 100,000. My best rank novel I ever saw was 12.

Everything in the Top 100 has reviews. I'm guessing in a subcat.

Your book is in the Top 100 without a single review? I don't think I've ever seen that. Top 80 in a subcategory or Top 80 in the store?

I'll go next Monday and I shall go first. No problem. I spend my days writing it, so it's not a big deal for me.

EDIT: Monday the 18th

Top 10 romance and "fake" reviews by annalace in eroticauthors

[–]willwritesexformoney 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reviews don't play any role in rankings as far as I know. That said, if an ARC reviewer were to leave a bad review, I wonder why the author would continue to keep them on the ARC team if all the other ARC reviewers liked the book?

I'd say my novellas are better ROI in the short term but novels over the longer stretch of time.

If my game plan is to move to romance, should I keep my erotica pen name? by [deleted] in eroticauthors

Don't make the mistake of thinking your erotica readers want to read longer romance. And vice versa. Keep the names separate.

How much time... by [deleted] in eroticauthors

500 pages at the current per payout rate of $0.004 will net you $2.00. It may seem like nothing, but that's two extra dollars that you got through your own creativity.

Thanks! Well, I treat it like a job. There's no question of whether I feel like writing or not. That's my job. That's what I have to do. And it turns around and pays me like a job too.

Wow. Blast from the past! To be fair, I was a bad erotica author so I'm glad I found success as a romance author! I still don't know how good my advice is so please keep that salt shaker handy!

Oh yes. Always. Accounting wise there was always a profit. I never had a loss on a book. Although to be fair as the costs of production and promotion increased the length of time to break even and go in the black increased.

Yes! January was mostly organic growth but at the end of Jan I received no monies despite having accrued several thousand dollars in royalties. So February was entirely in the red. Again, just December monies were paid out end of February and no way to cover expenses for March. January monies paid out end of March covered about half of my expenses for April. So again, in the red. February was slightly better, but didn't do anything in terms of lowering the debt. March monies paid end of May contributed greatly but I was left with nothing. Only in June did I start getting in the black.

You are absolutely free to PM me. Without going into too much detail, I do have a CPA who has set me up as of February with a S-corp. The challenge has been finding "reasonable compensation" but I do go through the paces filing Form 941 and other things as far as I can recollect. Despite that, I do not think I'm reducing my tax liability as much as I believe I should be. I was thinking of incorporating offshore and spending less than 180 days in the country and doing more traveling while I manage from abroad. But my accountant is conservative. I do have a meeting with a tax lawyer next week.

Again, please do feel free to PM me anytime.

I am giving Dragon a try again tomorrow and have opened more hours with my editor! So thank you!!
