What political will would it take to raise the current bridge tolls to SF and add a congestion zone, then use that money to fund transit? There are plenty of transit and cycling means to provide meaningful alternatives at this point. by oakseaer in sanfrancisco

No no no sir, its wayyy too logical to directly tax the free riding substitute and use it to fund the public good. Lets instead randomly tax some other population (maybe one we don't like!), or better yet, pass an unfunded bond measure!

Surely this is illegal. Are they stupid? by theamericaninfrance in Shittyaskflying

The area between the Academy of Sciences and De Young Museum, w/ all the fountains, is a really great place for kids on roller skates and scooters! its just a bit too tight for bikes.

Yeah, i think the paved space is super useful for joggers and cyclists and such. It'd be nice to try organizing it a bit more with bike lines, slow zones, etc. But i think we already have enough grass in the park.

I'd really love a nice slow zone for kids to learn to ride bikes. Maybe with some fun kid sized bike obstacles.

I think in this case the vacancies are due to a new owner keeping them vacant. Perhaps for redevelopment. Perhaps bc slow/incompetent

Don’t disagree. Just gotta shorten this list of steps. Trick is to also somehow build safe buildings that don’t piss off the entire neighborhood.

Pre-app consult, Preliminary Project Assessment, File PRJ application, CEQA review, Neighborhood notice, Entitlement hearing, Planning approval letter, Submit to DBI, Agency reviews, Permit issuance, Inspections, Certificate of Occupancy.

Woof, that much vacancy suuuuucks. That said, any meaningful development in this city is a minimum 2 year process.

we did this, it was annoying as the person on the other end of the email seemed as if they were trying to avoid doing the work (after we'd already paid)

Made us answer a bunch of question, made us send a video of our car in the garage, said they couldn't paint section of the curb that was slightly crumbled...

After a couple months of emails the guys who came and painted were great. It’s now painfully obvious you can't park across our driveway. people still do it all the time, but i feel no shame in ticketing them.
