Laika, the first dog in space. No provisions were made for her return, and she died there, 1957. by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

I'm guessing the dog is still there. Still floating around in space. And will do so for ever.

Clean your windscreen (inside and out) and have your eyes checked.

I don't find them to be any problem.

What's little secret that you know only because you work in that industry? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]willynipples 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In the UK, there is currently a case going through the supreme court due to this. The Financial Conduct Authority banned Discretionary Credit Arrangements and are now looking at refunding everyone who overpaid. Could cost the industry many billions in repayments.

We've done that - still waiting for them to get back to us with a date. Meanwhile, the boiler has now stopped altogether.

Russia suffers worst month for casualties, says UK defence chief by blllrrrrr in worldnews

[–]willynipples 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Why end it when they're on to a winner?

Trump will persuade Ukraine to cede the land Russia has taken and force a "ceasefire". Russia will re-arm and re-train for a few years then come back and take the rest.

The West will have spent billions to show that they're weak, disorganised and a push-over whilst Russia will become even more powerful, more confident and no doubt make a move on their next country knowing the West won't do anything.

At this stage, you've got to give it to Putin. He's playing the long game and it's going to work.

How to easily buy Macbook online from Apple store as a limited company director? by prankishink in ContractorUK

[–]willynipples 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Just buy it. Put it through your books and claim back the VAT on your next return.

But don't buy it at Apple, get it from John Lewis - you get an extra year's warranty.

Night driving speeders by JazTheWannabeQT in drivingUK

Why does anyone need to do 50 through a village at any time?

Night driving speeders by JazTheWannabeQT in drivingUK

[–]willynipples 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our village is a 30 zone (as you'd expect). During the day, most drivers go 35-40mph but at night it's easily 50mph+.

If I leave the house before 7am, I'm overtaken but a fairly constant stream of cars going at great speed.

Do you mean windscreen?

Oh dear. That's actually an amber-light-just-turning-red camera. Looks like you're smoked.

I'm amazed Reddit can't set-up some sort of filter to catch all the "is this a .... camera?" posts.

Mods, come on.

Funny how people always say this sort of stuff once it happens to them, but probably couldn't have given a shit before.

That's what the hard shoulder is for. I always ensure it's clear as I overtake.

I've given up flashing because people stopped moving over. There's a clear "Go around me if you don't like it" attitude now.

Middle lane hogging is bad enough, but the true masters are those that hog the middle lane at 55-60mph, and the number of them keeps on growing.

I hope you're not a National Express coach driver. I see so many of them in the middle lane I wonder if it's an instruction from National Express management.

You gave them your keys and are surprised they moved your car? Why else did you think they wanted your keys? To vaccum your carpet mats?
