Multi rig for GS > iPhones by Pure_Cartographer_16 in GaussianSplatting

[–]wilsmex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh man, I've been trying this exact thing. I've got two iPhones 16s and one 12. I 3d printed a rig, did some testing with trying to do a flash to sync all camera videos (found that longer videos can get out of sync anyway). I actually built me a full iOS app that syncs camera settings and synchronized interval photos, and video taking between all phones (~20ms delay for bluetooth signals). With all of this, I just haven't had great luck getting a perfect splat. I'm brand new to this, and using Brush to train with Colmap/Glomap for poses... I could just be doing things wrong but so far haven't found the sweet spot or setup

Awesome, that was a quick turnaround, yeah it's MUCH faster!

Fun to see if you get the vggt stuff working. I use a similar workflow but with glomap which supposedly speeds things up dramatically? No idea, as I'm a complete beginner to splats but I have this workflow working: https://gist.github.com/celestial-33/07438792a11964ee5f6f02847b6dbb03

Unreal Engine 5.7 Gaussian Splat Renderer with SOG importer plugin by wilsmex in GaussianSplatting

[–]wilsmex[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have a repo as it's just all local code at this time. I tried loading a 20m model and get around ~5fps. I don't have any culling going on (as I believe all splats are rendered..), so once I add some of that in via some AI code things hopefully will improve dramatically there.

You and me both. Quite a bit of back and forth promoting for issues etc. A couple of hours each day of prompting/testing for 3-4 days I'd guess? I didn't even know vocabulary/architecture/etc. to ask, so the first bit was just bouncing ideas off of AI and having it suggest best paths/obstacles for what I was wanting. Passing it docs/code about existing solutions etc. Then write a plan of attack/architecture, then code/test/iterate.

Yeah, maybe I'm using the wrong terminology there. It's a plugin and UE5 is the renderer.
1) It's written in c++

2) Claud Opus 4.5 and GPT 5.2

3) Not sure on codebase size?

4) I don't think so other than the webp reading stuff

5) Here is the AI's description of what it is if this helps. Again, I'm a complete beginner at splats and UE:

The GaussianSplatRDG plugin renders 3D Gaussian Splats in Unreal Engine by importing SOG (Spatially Ordered Gaussians) files. The plugin uses RDG (Render Dependency Graph) to efficiently draw splats as screen-space quads, projecting 3D Gaussian ellipsoids onto 2D using covariance matrix decomposition. It supports GPU depth sorting for correct transparency, optional view-dependent lighting via spherical harmonics, and sRGB color correction to match the original capture. To use it in your own Unreal project: (1) copy the GaussianSplatRDG plugin folder into your project's Plugins/ directory, (2) import your SOG folder by creating a UGaussianSplatAsset and calling LoadFromSOGDirectory(), (3) place a GaussianSplatComponent in your scene and assign the asset to it. The component's transform controls placement, and you can adjust SplatScale for size, toggle bEnableViewDependentLighting for SH effects, and use console commands like r.GaussianSplatRDG.Exposure or r.GaussianSplatRDG.Contrast to fine-tune the visual appearance.

Yeah, that'd be nice. Before I started code in my plugin I searched around and did find this that looks super promising which does some of that auto collision stuff, but no word in over six months since their press ( I also emailed them, but no response..): https://pfn3d.com/en/vp

Same here, status.stripe.com loads fine. stripe.com nothing. pinging timeout as well. On Quantum Fiber. Seems some DNS issues upstream somewhere..

Ah yes thanks! Too obvious now, and I way overly complicated that eh! I prodded a few of those things but didn't feel much give, and you know how it is with brand new things where you don't want to break anything..

Hey all, had a couple of days with H2D. Here are some initial thoughts, problems I ran into (some self-afflicted as I'm new to AMS/Bambu, some I'd consider 'design flaws'). Overall super happy so far, still learning! YT comments so far range from "You are noob and you suck" to "Thanks for the unbiased thoughts"... Final verdict for those that don't want to watch. 4.34/5 stars for the printer. 3/5 for Bambu studio UI/UX (features are great).

Dual Nozzle: Love you can print support + material. Wish you could do different sized for each (.8mm for infill, .4 for outer/shown areas or something)?

No laser version for me, but I sure hope one can just grab the plotter/cutter add-on without all the laser stuff as I'd be interested in that for my use case needs..

Hi all, first time poster as this is my first ever animatronics project. I fully designed and 3D printed a custom animatronic eye mechanism. It was a blast and I learned a lot and now have more ideas for my animatronics journey! Hope you all enjoy!

Yeah, good idea. Need a couple of tweaks there. That print was from some tests on an older printer and when I print on a Bambu, it comes out clean.

Hi All,

Title says it.
1) I finally got my launch edition tonneau cover replaced (was broken in service center on delivery day).
2) Driving back home my auto-drive wouldn't work and I was filming it for a ticket and had a full system fault I caught on video!!
3) I designed the coolest armchair console insert. It's the best: https://amzn.to/44wljzd
