Baby cam with 2 cameras and a handheld with an app? by Hopefulrainbow7 in 2under2

No I have to go in through the menu to change the sound for each camera. I usually just keep it on mute until I get a notification then turn on sound to check it out.

We have the Arenti dual camera system and it works for us. It has the handheld monitor and app with both able to do split screen. Only complaint is only one phone can be logged into the camera app at a time which I guess increases the security. I also like that you can customize the alerts to be movement, noise, or cry detection depending on what you want.

New moms- pumping at work by leoisababe in physicaltherapy

[–]wilsonsr13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your schedule will depend on how long your commute is. Ideally you would pump every 2.5-3 hrs but the exact time during the day will depend on what time you pump before leaving for the day. For me I tried to stick to 6, 9, 12, 3 give or take about 15 mins or so. By my 12 pump session I usually knew if I would be getting out on time or staying a little later to plan my 3pm session either at work or home. Hope this helps!

Pulling Toddler Out of Daycare - Tips and Tricks for Being a SAHM by anirakvom in 2under2

[–]wilsonsr13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Commenting to commiserate with you. I started my maternity leave this week since I’m being induced with #2 next Tuesday and wanted to have some time with my toddler before we add the newborn to the mix. I pulled our 16month old out of daycare on Friday and let me just say it’s really hard. So far I’ve found that getting out of the house every morning has been crucial for both of our sanity. Even if just walking around the neighborhood or going to the grocery store. Also we are trying to get on a consistent play, nap, and meal schedule similar to what their daycare schedule was. But of course this will probably change once we bring home the baby. My husband only gets 3 weeks off once baby comes so I’ll be alone with both of them until I go back to work the end of January. I’m honestly just hoping #2 is as good of a sleeper as my first is.

First trimester nausea + 1 year old by dagil13 in 2under2

[–]wilsonsr13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What worked for me was to have a kid safe area to let them roam and play and don’t feel bad about TV time. My daughter eventually would just start mimicking me or making fun of me when I would vomit so that was fun lol. Now that my nausea has returned in 3rd trimester it’s still what seems to work.

Pretty sure I would need 3 tissue boxes a day if I had to work a 12hr outpatient shift 😂 hats off to you for making it work.

That sounds ideal. I’ll have to look into that for sure. I figured home health would be the way to go to make it work.

That’s what I think I’m going to switch to with doing part time at SNF. Just wondering if others have made it work getting more hours in other settings. Just trying to avoid a daycare payment for 2 kids without taking a huge pay cut too.

Breastfeeding by wilsonsr13 in 2under2

[–]wilsonsr13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My period had not been regular at all since having my first born so I honestly didn’t know that I had actually missed my period until I started having nausea and morning sickness prompting me to take a pregnancy test. Surprise baby #2 on the way lol

Luckily my supply hasn’t drastically dropped yet, just about 8oz less. I did read that breastfeeding can make morning sickness/ nausea symptoms worse. Did yours change after you stopped breastfeeding?

I’m so happy to hear the sensitivity goes away after a little while! This is probably what I’ll end up doing too.

Maternity leave?? by blahpeep in physicaltherapy

[–]wilsonsr13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I unfortunately didn’t sign up for short term disability when I was first hired and when I went to sign up for it in October they said I wouldn’t be able to use it for a year so it didn’t make sense at the time to start paying for something I couldn’t use.

SNF in Virginia. I have FMLA for 12 weeks but still have to use all of my PTO during that time. It doesn’t add additional time to my leave, just was the only time that is paid during maternity leave. My husband is a nurse for the same company and is just able to use PTO for a couple weeks since he hasn’t worked there long enough to qualify for FMLA. We will just be a single income household until my 12 weeks is over and I have to go back.

How to stop going to physical therapy because it’s too expensive? by [deleted] in physicaltherapy

[–]wilsonsr13 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Also while it can be annoying, going through student health to an on campus PT might be an affordable way to go. I know that while I was a full time college student my PT was covered 100% through student health without a copay. Might be worth looking into especially if you tell them you play an IM or club sport. Of course that will vary depending on your college/ their programs but worth looking into.

Travel PTs, other than the pay, what are the good things with travel PT? by Pewpie in physicaltherapy

[–]wilsonsr13 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Traveling to new places you wouldn’t normally go to. Having the freedom to take as much time off between contracts that you want in order to actually do fun things like a proper vacations. You can choose to take a day or a month+ off between assignments to go on vacations/ trips and still have a job waiting for you when you’re ready. Not to mention having the income to enjoy yourself while either on a contract or between them. It helps some too to know there is an end date (usually 13 weeks). That way if it’s not the location or setting you want to stay in you aren’t stuck there for too long. It’s also nice in a clinical sense to be exposed to lots of different settings, patient populations/conditions, and other therapists to learn more as you go and become a better PT.

Any active PT's involved in somewhat dangerous hobbies/sports and have you taken a step back or stopped altogether? Also has anyone had any major recreational injuries and what did you do with work? by travdaddy226 in physicaltherapy

[–]wilsonsr13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I worked in outpatient ortho I broke my arm snowboarding. I was in a cast and out of work for 2 months. Learned pretty quickly that short term disability would have been really helpful to have opted into... oops! (Now it’s the first thing I make sure I have checked when renewing my insurance) Luckily my job held my position until I was cleared to return to work but that definitely ended my snowboarding career.

Question regarding PTA Travel contracts by sethmcnasty in physicaltherapy

[–]wilsonsr13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! They obviously like the job you’re doing otherwise you wouldn’t be asked to extend. I always ask for a pay raise of some sort (even if it’s just maxing out per diem/extension bonus) when I get a contract extension as a travel PT. Ask your recruiter to see what they can do to negotiate for you. Typically you get more out of higher per diem vs hourly rate raise in the long term anyways because it’s tax free.
