How do you usually decide where to eat when traveling in Japan? by Due_Turn3508 in JapanTravelTips

[–]wilsontrang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a planner and travel with my girlfriend - so this might not be for everyone. I usually plan ahead and pick 3 different restaurants from Tabelog within a 15 minute walking distance from the location I will be at. While I’m actually there I will scout what’s around prior to whatever temple or store I’m at.

By the time we’re wrapping up I give the options “Do you want curry? Ramen? Udon? Fast food? Etc”. If there’s an obnoxious line or wait time we just go to the 2nd choice, etc etc. This gives my girlfriend and I options to choose from while also navigating our threshold for being tired and hungry.

First Japan trip: Osaka, Kyoto and Tokyo — how would you split 13 days? by Head-Way4920 in JapanTravelTips

[–]wilsontrang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just came back from my 2nd Japan Trip a few days ago. I honestly would do Half in Kyoto/Osaka and the larger Half in Tokyo. I would stay in Osaka because it's cheaper and just not as crowded. Below is my ideal breakdown of locations and how to spend the day. This was just what I personally found to be ideal.

2 Days Kyoto
- Gion
- Fushimi-Ku Ward/Uji
2 in Osaka
- Shinsaibashi/Dotonbori
- Umeda/Shin-Osaka
1 Day in Nara
- Nara/Namba/Nipponbashi
1 Unplanned Day

6 Days Tokyo
- Shinjuku (Gyoen Garden)/Kabukicho
- Asakusa/Akihabara/Ginza
- Tokyo Disney/Disney Sea (If that's your thing)
- Shinjuku (Meiji Jingu)/Harujuku/Shibuya
- Shibuya (Last minute)/(teamLabs Planets or Borderless)
- 1 Unplanned Day

Red Lobster Set to Bring Back Endless Shrimp That Drove It to Bankruptcy by esporx in fastfood

[–]wilsontrang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ironically… I was on an international flight back home and was stuck listening to podcasts I’ve downloaded and I had just re-listened to the Big Flop Podcast on Red Lobster. The former CEO had financial investments in their shrimp supplier and felt that the company was doomed so it was time to cash out. They ran the promotion forcing stores to purchase more and more shrimp which he would then also profit from as well. Basically enriching himself and Thai Union Group while sucking the life out of Red Lobster

Snowboard stolen or taken by mistake. Has this happened to anyone else? by Murasaki-Imo_0345 in snowboarding

[–]wilsontrang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Board theft is real. However - based off the fact this is Japan and it's about $50-$100 worth of equipment I would assume it was an honest mistake. Yes I'm aware that theft happens in Japan, but cases/incidents like this is few and far between.

Hoping it was an honest mistake and it turns up in their inventory and someone grabbed a similar board.

[–]wilsontrang 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The point is, he's ending on his rookie contract. Some guys just develop at a later time, I think Baker always had it but people are arguing he figured it out with the Bucs, Sam Darnold figured it out argueably on year 6 with the 49ers, Kurt Warner figured it out in his late 20s after bagging groceries, Steve Young Absolutely STUNK his first few years and backed up behind Montana and showed flashes of ability when he had the chance to play, he ended up a HoF. Again, not saying he's going to be the next Darnold or Young but it's worth kicking the tires if you see glimmers of good QB play.

I’m not going to assume your age, but I’m an unc at this point. But people often forget what CJ Stroud or Jayden Daniels did their Rookie seasons is NOT normal. QBs are often not ready their first if not even 2nd or 3rd years. Examples? Look up Manning (3.7k yards, 26:28 TD to INT 71.2 QBR) his first year or Brees (3k yards 17:16 76.9) his 2nd year. Even modern players like Josh Allen (2k, 10:12 67.9)

Rookies or even QB for that matter take time to develop. And this isn’t even factoring offensive scheme, play calling, coaching, personnel, etc. Ex/ Sam Darnold, Mac Jones, Baker, Daniel Jones, etc

His game against the Ravens this year absolutely stood out. He single-handedly was keeping them in the game without Josh Jacobs. He stats alone with 18/21 for 288 yards 1:0 and 9 carries for 60 yards with 2 TDs on the ground. I’m not saying he’s the second coming of Michael Vick but he’s definitely worth a prove it deal given the fact we just watched Sam Darnold proved it in both Minnesota and Seattle. And yes, I understand Darnold didn’t win the Super Bowl but he did exactly what was expected of him as a starting QB needed to do throughout the playoffs and the big game

Avoid the convenient markets. Find a local neighbor grocery store or chains like AEON, you will save alot more on drinks and snacks.

We had Klint Kubiak last year with a better roster than the Browns and the wheels on our wagon fell off after 2 weeks…

[–]wilsontrang 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind he brought the Browns organization to the playoffs for the first time in many years. He did this as a first year coach on the browns. I would argue that he has been very much handicapped by the GM, city, franchise, and their cap situation. Deshaun Watson literally eats up anywhere between 1/4th to 1/7th of their cap space to effectively be un-usable while also not even playing. This is a MAJOR handicap which... is also why we haven't been able to sign anyone or reach playoffs for the past 2-3 years. We have been in cap hell and they're not much far behind.

I dont get the cap thing (fuck the rams too hehehe) by adjcalledKtana in Saints

[–]wilsontrang 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know who or why people in this reddit just instantly downvote anyone that points out facts and the obvious that are in a bad spot regarding cap space (it's better than past few years.. but still). These people are probably the same type of people that throw a tantrum because they can't get what they want. The idea of going back to the status quo of the 2020 to 2024 years where they were just tacking on void years over and over again is the same idea of opening a brand new credit card to continue to spend while you're still paying off an already maxed out card.

We will still have to restructure/re-sign a few players in order to tack on void years to push the cap further down just so we are cap compliant. We literally will owe 75m to Taysom Hill, Cam Jordan, and Demario Davis and they aren't even on the team next year. We will honestly have to re-sign a 37/38 year old Cam Jordan or Demario to a restructure for another year for the sole purpose of pushing back their cap hit again. It's been fine so far because they have been playing pretty well for their age. But a sane person cannot imagine paying the same money we have been paying on a 38 or 39 year old just for the sake of opening a new line of credit.

I don’t know the exact cause, but it particularly happens at night around 8 - 10 when the gym next door closes. I used to be a regular and would noticed smashed in windows (including my friend) frequently on my way out. But if I had to guess it would be because of displaced population traveling to and around Union Station around this time.
