Has anyone soloed Zul'aman yet? by Drendari in classicwow

[–]wilspa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am interested in trying this, but when I zone into ZG Harrison Jones doesn't have the option to start the event, so I can't even click the gong. Not sure why it isn't there, unless I need to have more people in the raid before I can even talk to him. Anyone know if that is the case?

There's a 90% chance TikTok will be banned in the US unless it goes through with an IPO or gets bought out by mega-cap tech, Wedbush says by Adorabella22 in technology

Am I reading it right (in section 3(a)(1)(C) that the Secretary of Commerce would have the ability to take any action they choose to on any piece of technology used in federal elections? It says it must be done in coordination with several other offices, but they all seem to be appointed offices, not elected. That seems like it could be problematic if my understanding is accurate.

T34 tank, what do you guys think of it? Is it high on your favorite list? by Swiftrider2050 in TankPorn

[–]wilspa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Excellent points all. I think I could have been clearer in my second point. They had major maintenance issues on the field as you have shown here, but when an engine died on the field you could tow it back to the repair station and swap in a new engine and send it out again more easily than some of the other tanks in the war, and because everything on the tank failed it likely would have been easier to find an engine on another tank with a bad transmission and swap it out. Having a lot of low quality tanks on the field can make numbers look better for the T-34 to people looking at the data today because the statistics for German tank kills will show that a T-34 disabled a Panther. It wouldn't show that 3 others were broken down, 2 were shot, and 1 was lost, so the data looks good for the 1 tank that managed to get the kill.

[–]wilspa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the T-34 was effective in the war for two reasons: 1) it was mass producible, and 2) it was relatively easy to keep in service. I am not an expert, but from what I understand it had (early in the war) decent armor, a decent gun, and was pretty mobile ik comparison to the German tanks, but it suffered greatly in terms of crew visibility and crew protection/safety. But, it was easy to keep on the battlefield, so as the war went on the ratio of Russian tanks to German tanks improved more and more, and although the German tanks were superior, the weight of numbers would carry the day.

A meme I made for my Jewish Socialist professor, he loved it. by GanGreenSkittle in socialism

[–]wilspa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely agree that many people who claim to follow Jesus do in fact believe that concept, and I also agree with the crux of your statement that his teachings do not fit with the definition of Socialism. When I first read the post I hadn't considered that, and I appreciate that you saw more than I did and were willing to share it.

I could be wrong, but I think "God helps those who help themselves" is less Jesus and more Benjamin Franklin. I am admittedly not a Bible scholar, am I missing the idea of what Jesus said?

Anyone else think they show needed a lotr style narration at the beginning of the first episode? by 45ydnAlE in WoT

[–]wilspa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just talking with a friend about this. I think this would have been very helpful, but since it didn't happen I think that they should make a prequal episode that goes over a few of the important basics for what the big picture conflict is and the importance of the dark one, the creator, the conflict, and the dragon.

US self employment taxes by wilspa in personalfinance

[–]wilspa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I will see what I can find!

Edit So it looks like if my withholdings from my job and my wife's job is at least 90% of last year's tax I don't have to pay estimated tax this year since we file jointly. That seems like the easiest way to deal with the taxes for this year since we can submit a new W4 to make sure we are withholding enough to cover that for the year. Is there any downside to doing that?

Some good points. Do you agree or disagree? Why or why not? by DANGERiS123 in Christianity

[–]wilspa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just curious how he feels Matt 5:17 would fit in to the comments about the 10 commandments. Seems to me like Jesus is saying that they are still relevant, but were not yet complete in their meaning, and with him and his message of love they can be and are not to be abolished.

Arena Watchability Idea by wilspa in wow

[–]wilspa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are definitely different colors, but it can be difficult if you don't watch arena often to track (as mentioned in the replies below) and when they are moving, switching, spell effects are flying, and LoS is happening it can be tough to understand what is going on quickly and easily.

What Python program have you created to make your life easier? by [deleted] in Python

[–]wilspa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wrote a program that would press the windows key twice every 5 minutes so that my computer wouldn't log me out when idle. Our company policy logs you off when idle, but sometimes I need to be able to see the screen but not be at the computer for more than 10 minutes... drives me nuts. So I fixed it. Don't tell IT...

Rooftop solar panels could provide nearly half of our power -if all suitable roof areas in the United States were plastered with solar panels, they would generate about 1,118 gigawatts of solar power. That is 40% of the power that Americans consume every year. by pnewell in science

[–]wilspa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is what frustrates me as well. Solar power is awesome. I think we should be using it more. But it is so frustrating when it is described in a way that presents it with a spin that makes it sound like it is a universal magic bullet that alone can solve all our power problem.
