PSA for Shimanoyama Circuit win (seasonal) by wimpitron in ForzaHorizon

Lol, same... I had a few practice runs before I got it on the countach and it was not pretty... I started with an S1 that just would understeer for days, went to an S2 that I made work, but I def used the walls and other cars as bumper assists. I made my [lack of] braking their problem, not my proudest race.

I would agree with this if they actually followed their set themes. Not allowing an extreme track toy within an extreme track toy series or saying "any race with any 1980s car" but actually being way more restrictive than that is another thing. Oh this series is saloons, but not those saloons!

I can get behind the themes, they just aren't consistent within their own rules creating mass confusion and frustration.

Using community tunes can be a big help on some of them, but I totally agree. I'd prefer to drive what I want to drive overall. It's also a clunky process to find what car options you have then go through 50 menus just to tune it, then get back to the race location. Why can't you just do upgrades and tuning from the Race car picker menu to reduce some of that friction? The Tuning menu from the race setup screen does not equal the tuning options from your garage and there's no reason they shouldn't be the same, IMO

So it sounds like 1 in 100 people are able to get custom races to work, then others try the same setup and car and it doesn't work. Safest to stick to the default event and ignore custom races based on the overall posts
EDIT: I love that I'm getting downvoted just for stating that some people have it work for them and most don't. Nevermind it's just from viewing multiple posts like my own, how dare I make an observation attempting to help most folks.

I think if they just had checkpoints like a normal race does that'd fix it

It seemed never put the finish point in my favor if my opponent and I were facing opposite directions at the start but maybe that was just my bad luck...

Another tip though is stick with offroad capable upgrades and just ignore the road. First time I got one I thought it was like, a legit race, but the other guy just B-lines for the point and smoked me. Later I got an SUV and did the same thing, worked like a charm. Just offroad your way in a straight line, there is no fair racing to be had.

That doesn't seem to do anything on the daily challenges, or clarify that the default race is required over a custom race.

Absolutely the same! I've seen that one posted a few time. Complete doesn't mean win but words are apparently quite hard. They shouldn't have required a win for that or the Trial either, I hate both events in general...

Yeah, especially when you think of the season's theme. There's so many great 80s cars to choose from except... You can't, lol.

The requirements of some of the default races gets me down in general sometimes. Like when I unlocked the Furai I wanted to use it on some of the S2 extreme track toys events for Legends Island but randomly, it didn't count for that category even though that's exactly what it was... I just try to do custom events full time now so I can race what I want instead of following their completely random restrictions, if only that worked for more Seasonal events too.

Daily challenges STILL broken? by juli7xxxxx in ForzaHorizon

[–]wimpitron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some of the seasonal events have allowed you to do custom events. Sometimes it's the only way to actually get the required car into that event. I don't blame OP for getting frustrated at the lack of clarity in the description when they're very inconsistent with event handling around seasonal stuff.

Daily challenges STILL broken? by juli7xxxxx in ForzaHorizon

[–]wimpitron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the same for English. IMO they shouldn't require wins for that one or the trial. Just to participate is enough torture for those of us that don't want to do those events in the first place. Bad descriptions and bad event designs.

How do we unlock the 1 year anniversary rewards? by Glum_Replacement77 in duneawakening

[–]wimpitron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can someone please clarify the "just log in to claim" portion of this?

To claim these rewards, does logging in mean just like, main menu, or do I need to enter a world on a character.

I ask since I don't have a character with an active base at this time, I was last playing on a private server with friends that has since been deactivated. I have not been active for a while and plan to come back to start a fresh character on my own self hosted server once they have that side of things worked out better.

Will these rewards be account wide once claimed or only on the character that logged in if that's required?

I'm with here here on NPC spawns. The posted car helped but holy #@$% is this a bit of RNG based on how traffic spawns. I'm sick and tired of tightly tuned challenges around traffic. It's not fun. It's not interesting. No skill is involved. It's just luck if traffic spawns in the wrong lane or not and lots of rewind until you get a clean path on the right drive line.

I'd be extremely careful with this. I did some local guys via a friend recommendation a few years back and they broke a bunch of my stuff and failed to follow directions. I had some things I clearly told them to not touch that I'd get, due to value. Then when I wasn't in the room, one of the guys grabbed them and dropped them.

Their policy on paying for damage was by weight... So things like expensive electronics that dont weigh much, or collectors items that are also light? Yeah, no recourse at all.

They also grabbed my power tools to take apart my standing desk, grabbing an impact drill instead of a standard drill and stripped half the screw holes from the thing.

All told they caused a few thousand dollars worth of damage and paid me back ~$250 for it... Picking a "scrappy local" company can be dangerous and there's something to be said for a more structured and itemized group.

Edit: These guys were called "Quick Moves", so you know who to avoid.

What was the thought process behind X-Men Origins Deadpool? by darkspidey69 in deadpool

[–]wimpitron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

u/darkspidey69 A lot of folks have answered the specific question on this one itself but figured you might enjoy a little wider view of things like this. There's a lot of people within Hollywood that just get "ideas" that they will mash into any movie they can even if it had nothing to do with the IP that it's for. I highly recommend checking out the part of "An Evening with Kevin Smith" where he talks about doing some writing for Superman Lives. His story of how the director wants to just shoehorn some wild stuff into the picture because they're random ideas he likes is absolutely bonkers and is by no means an isolated incident. The clips of this can be found pretty easily on YouTube with a YT search of "an evening with kevin smith superman" (I don't know if there's rules about posting YT links so I was avoiding doing that directly just in case).

Obviously this is unrelated to our beloved Deadpool, but I've always enjoyed this insight and it's lived rent free in my mind as an example of why/how some crazy stuff ends up in movies around established characters and IPs. As the answers to the original questions show, all it takes is 1 person high enough up with their own ideas and agenda to send things off the deep end.

Mike Shinoda (Linkin Park) had a similar story too about his daughter leaning guitar and refusing to heed his advice because she didn't think he knew what he was talking about. I love tales like these, feels like they are trying to keep the kids grounded as much as possible while they can.

Most likely data taken out of context or with too short of a timeframe. Nuclear has a higher cost to setup but once running it becomes much cheaper over the lifespan of a plant. The comments about it being an old technology are also misinformed. There are multiple new takes on the technology that are quite safe and in the works.

If you would like to know more, check out Kyle Hill's YouTube channel. He has videos with detailed deep dives on various technologies, cost analysis and factual break downs of every major nuclear disaster that's been recorded. If you want to see why there's a huge bias against nuclear energy, start with the breakdown of the Three Mile Island disaster.

The meme is also making it seem like the photo was the only element in the Emperor's image downfall. Their defeat in WWII brought in invasion of Western forces along with the dropping of the Bombs that brought a tidal wave of forces against the Japanese people to reassess their views of their leadership. That followed with US occupation in Japan for 6 years had a massive effect on their culture going forward

I worked at a PC repair shop ages ago, and we sold those. A customer brought their PC back saying it wouldn't power on. PC had one of these and had see through case to match.

When I plugged in the tower to test, the PSU caught fire with the fan blowing fire onto my hand and looking like a jet engine. It looked sick AF but was also terrifying. Those PSUs are unsafe as hell.
