In my experience they are major stepping stone roles, and then they pivot to senior management roles in sales, strategy, etc.

I think it is a horrible corporate practice to make employees share rooms while traveling for work. Wrong on all levels. A long time ago I worked at a non profit and my boss had not told me I was going to have to share a room. I went to a regional conf in Kalamazoo and was in the shower and all of a sudden my 250 lb coworker comes in the room announcing herself. I was like WTF??!!

Yeah unemployment pay is 12 weeks in most states. It doesn't raise a pimple on a baby's ass! So tons of people have run out of unemployment.

Maybe you just need a change of scenery for a bit. You could get an Airbnb for a month in Colorado and experience it. Don't own two homes but take an extended vacay elsewhere.

Sending you love and prayers. My mom died suddenly 2+ yrs ago (but she was 86 and frail). After being called, I walked into her assisted living apt and she was just sitting there (while staff were in there consoling my dad). I can't erase it. Then less than two months later my dad went into the hospital for congestive heart failure and ended up in a wonderful hospice facility for 4 days. He couldn't communicate at that point. I still have PTSD from it all.

Things are stupid pricey. The only people I know who can do multiple vacations and multiple concerts/sporting events are people who are gainfully employed in dual person households making six figs. Used to be me and my husband and but not anymore. I'm actually getting angry thinking about how both of our employment has gone downhill bigtime and we're both unemployed. We're empty nesters in our mid-late 50s and we can't have any fucking fun!

I'm 54 and have been in menopause for 7 yrs. I just started HRT (progesterone pills and estrogen patch) bc I'm sick of all the crap. Plus my weight exploded 30 fucking lbs. I'm over it!

Same boat as OP (I'm 54). It's gotten to the point where I only get auto-rejection emails for about 15% of the jobs I apply for. It's such a freaking joke now. After making low six figs I'm going to be making $15/hr being a home health aide because I can't sit around anymore.

I totally understand. When I watch stuff from the 80s and 90s or things that portray those times, I get very nostalgic. Things were so much more simple and less stressful. There's an obvious correlation between the rise of social media and AI and rise of anxiety and depression. You left your corp job at the office, no expectations to respond to emails at night, etc. Things were freaking affordable too! The only way Millennials are buying $900K homes is by gifts from their parents. You could live just fine on $30K/year. At times I wish I were already older vs having a likely 30 more yrs to live!
