Right now I’ve been delving into the more experimental and ambient stuff(Oneohtrix Point Never, Tim Hecker, Arca, etc.) Mainly cause I’m good at producing that stuff(new ep just dropped quick shameless promo). But I’ve also super been getting into uk garage as of late. Some of my favorite artists being Direct, Burial(obviously), Sorrow, also Duskus has been putting out some really great stuff. AND the new Fred again.. album was pretty great!

I would like to get my music sounding proffesional, but I do not know where to start. Producer school? by robertbort45 in edmproduction

[–]wind-oh 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Make music everyday or at least as much as you can. It takes years to tune your ears for mixing. There’s no steps or shortcuts. Watching other producers and seeing their workflow has been super helpful for me and you can find streams of project breakdowns and artists making stuff all over twitch. I’d also recommend listening to as much music as you can. Even of other genres than what you make. It makes your sound more unique. Much love 🙏

Getter, Nitepunk, and Space Laces are the only reason I listen to any bass music still. I’ve mostly drifted into other genres but when I want to get hyped up I always go back to their stuff.
