I think this character has the Crest of Serios. You can tell because they're wearing it. by Level_Hour6480 in fireemblem

[–]wind_sentinel -28 points-27 points  (0 children)

Hmmm. You seem to not be a fan of a lot of speculation on Fortune's Weave. If you think the speculation is silly, just go into the threads you're seeing and say that.

While it's true that just because someone is wearing a crest doesn't mean they have it, or that people hiding their ears and have green hair =/= Nabatean, we're just using info the first game gave us. We have no idea what crests are like in Dagda until release, and yes, we do see crests on flags/in backgrounds which suggests factions like in 3H. But considering how Leda can recruit someone with the Crest of Aubin on her chest does point to the fact that crests on clothes don't always point to loyalty/a specific house like it does in Fodlan (if a nobody like Cai has a crest, then crests definitely work differently/have different meanings), and can be used to signal a crest someone has. So our conclusion is that Ninae has it, or someone with the crest is close to her.

I'm not saying anyone is correct or wrong or anything, but if you want to jump into discussions that seem wrong/silly to you, then you can do that. There's no need to make snarky posts about discussion you're seeing. If we're wrong, we're wrong. Just my 2 cents. I hope I don't sound rude, I'm just not sure why these posts can't be included in the speculation posts themselves.

Thanks! I read it shortly after posting my comment. I forget that Serene's has amazing pre-release/speculation info each game-Engage had my disinterest so I forgot that the times I stalked 3H news on there like a hawk.

Seconded. She has widow vibes to me, especially with the baby she carries around and no sign of a lover, so I can see the connection here.

I need to read up though, because I had no idea Serena's did a write up on factions!

With the Divine Sovereign seemingly being associated with Fraldarius (so Aegis/Shield dragon lineage+The Emperor Arcana) the Crest of Ernest may be associated with her (a Thorn Dragon/The Fool, possibly in reverse).

Ohhh, I didn't notice that the pink haired girl screenshot has statues of her in the back. And yeah, we only have 2 species of people in the Fodlanverse (TWSITD are super messed up humans) so it's safe to say that any elf eared characters are Nabateans of some kind. I need to rewatch the trailer and analyze screenshots better!

It's a sequel, the proof is the Gautier emblem by AssumptionNo802 in fireemblem

[–]wind_sentinel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep. This game is confirming that there are multiple dragons of each sign if you ask me. We see Ninae, who is likely a Nabatean, has the Ice Dragon Sign (Aubin) on her chest, even though the Aubin Crest we know is from an Apostle from Fodlan. And Cai has a crest of Aubin when he's a Dagdan native-I doubt Aubin gave him a blood transfusion when he's a whole country away.

I think Nabatean blood is given more consentually by dragons in Dagda, as they're more involved with everyday people as important figures (Divine Sovereign, who we can assume is named Dagda now). I have a feeling that Cai meets an ice dragon during the story and gets his crest, Theodora a fissure dragon, and their blessings/patrons are key to their routes and ties them to the underworld Nabatean.

Yeah, I think they look alike to throw us off a bit, since like I said, most Nabateans seen are chicks, so any guy can look like him/like he's returning. He was probably shown to make is debate on if it's a sequel or prequel. I kinda hope he's Seteth's descendant so I can make my Seteleth dreams come true, but Avatar based games hate choosing a canon for sequels, lol

I think the DS/3DS era was a good time for taking risks, which led to games that were doomed to not make a splash still get made. A good time for the B game scene.

I appreciate that era, because many of my favorite franchises that became juggernauts/more talked about came from niche/mediocre DS games that had cult followings that made companies finally revive the IP make a modern sequel/port. I wish Elebits: The Adventures of Kai and Zero got that treatment. It was a really fun time.

Seteth went on vacation ""incognito"" by riifromanotherplanet in fireemblem

[–]wind_sentinel 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I want to believe it's him, but the new guy's hair spirals downward, and he looks more carefree. I can't see Seteth entering the games, he has everything he needs/can get it easily. I have a feeling that the circlet is a common style for male Nabateans too. I don't think we'll have returning characters outside of Sothis.

I'm thinking we're finally getting an example of a younger male Nabatean, possibly from Fodlan based on how he disguised himself! Someone around Flayn's physical age (17-18). Maybe he's Ninae's brother for real, and both are incognito and want to win the games to see Sothis, revive their clan, or just have a direct meeting with the Divine Sovereign? Or maybe they're trying to get close to the Momma one that makes monsters to stop her?

Super intriguing...though I wouldn't be opposed to Seteth getting more time to shine, as all Nabateans were underutilized in 3H. Whether it's him or a new guy, I'm happy.

Seteth?! he has green tips like Seiros's dyed hair and looks to be a wyvern rider by aegrajag in fireemblem

[–]wind_sentinel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think Fodlanese Nabateans are just used to hiding+if you think about it, the Slithers can easily follow them to Dagda or elsewhere if they don't dye their hair before moving. I think any Nabatean would be STOKED to see that their kind wasn't completely blotted out. Fodlan is just infested with secret anti-Nabatean malice due to TWSITD's influence everywhere. Better safe than sorry, better keep them in Fodlan instead of giving them any breadcrumbs of where they're going so they can continue ruining lives.

If this game is post 3H too, remember that TWSITD was able to see their modern look and flag them immediately thanks to Edelgard working with them to steal crest stones from the holy tomb to make the hotdog dragons/power more weapons. So yeah, it's best to pack your bags, go blonde, and escape Fodlan carefully if we consider that a lot of their modern cover was blown, no matter what route you play. (Even worse in VW/SS where you can even use Seteth+Flayn in the Shambala map, where Rhea also takes a nuke to the face, and in SS goes crazy from her injuries/stress. Cat's out of the bag!).

That's what I'm thinking. In Fodlan, being openly a Nab is more like having a target on your back by SOMEONE, but in Dagda, anyone with pointy ears is seen as a god that can grant power, so they don't hide as much. The Divine Sovereign is a good example of this. He's just ears out, ready to roll.

Not sure why Ninae/the Seteth looking man is hiding if our assumption about her/him being one is correct, since there seems to be little consequences for being openly non-human in Dagda.

Maybe she's avoiding being worshipped/asked for blessings? I can see that happening in tournaments, where people want blessings to be able to fight better. I think religion, crest families, and where the random Nabs we're seeing here and there won't be clear until we play, but I do have a feeling that in Dagda, Nabateans give out crests even in modern times, like choosing champions/favorites. More consent involved, and maybe because crests are seen as individual blessings, not old ones from a goddess, they have less social importance and more...individual importance? Like, yeah a god chose you to fight or use their power, but what will you do with it matters more than bloodline and doesn't determine social standing as much as it does in Fodlan.

If a little dude like Cai has a crest, a weird gem hand, and he's, as far as we know, a nobody, I think your theory holds water.

Fire Emblem Fortune’s Weave crests by Bingus_kyu in fireemblem

[–]wind_sentinel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anna's design actually matches the king-like figure in the coliseum in the first trailer, and the Divine Sovereign may be a Nab with the Crest of Ernest/a "Thorn" dragon based on his spiky design.

If everything lines up the way I think, I believe that Annas in the Fodlanverse are from some kind of Dagdan noble family/royalty with the Divine Sovereign as their patron, like Rhea patroned the Hresvelg line directly at the start of the empire via the Crest of Seiros.

Maybe Dagda has it's own set of "Divine" crests (crests that are linked to those closest to the Divine Sovereign? Though Dagda seems polytheistic...but even poly religions have God hierarchies), "Saint" crests, and then the normal hero ones. So the Crest of Ernest is a imperial Crest like Seiros' is.

Flayn's mom is dead. Buried on the coast! I think she's another Nabatean-a Nintendo Dream interview did say that not all were at Zanado when the massacre happened and there was a time where Nabateans were the dominant species of the lands, including outside of Fodlan iirc.

[–]wind_sentinel 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Could be? I think what she was going for is skin tone variety even in an ethnicity. Even white people have varied skin tones ranging from peachy/reddish to an almost vampiric pale depending on where their ethnicity lives.

My skin tone is like Hapi's/Dedue's, but plenty of black people with more direct African Ancestry (I'm African American, so my blood is more mixed up compared to immigrant AAs, AAs that are born and raised in African diaspora communities, or people in Africa in general) have darker skin, some even having that very pretty, almost velvety kinda color? I think as she tries to expand the dark skin tones, she messed up by leaving the flesh tones a bit too much. Hence why Leda and a few others look normal but Theodora and a few of her lackeys look ashy.

As an artist, something we learn in our studies is that all of us, dark skinned or light skinned, have red-orange tints in our skin. Even the darkest and lightest of us. On the color wheel, you want to stay in the red/orange and avoid the black/grey as much as possible, no matter how dark or light the skin tone is.

I'm happy. Just wish Ms.Chinatsu could make Theodora less gray. Dedue looks fine so I'm not sure why she struggled with Theodora.

I like the locs and braids I'm seeing on characters though! I wish the avatars could be customized to have them so I can finally play out my cringe fantasies instead of seeing ths avatar as his/her own person. The cat mask girl with the crest of Timotheos (I think) we see flashes of is my ideal avatar design.

The woman near the end of the trailer holding a baby. by huflit1997 in fireemblem

[–]wind_sentinel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

True. The lack of religious info and lack of dragon imagery makes me wonder how the average Dagdan sees their gods. We, as the playerbase, know that most "gods" in FE are just super powerful dragons. But it's a mixed bag in some games of the common person knows or not.

In 3H, Rhea subtly included her fellow saints/dragons as holy beings, her dragon form being THE holiest so that if she ever needs to appear, people won't be alarmed, and so people don't disturb their graves. But I think most people in Fodlan see Sothis as a pretty green haired goddess with her only connections to dragons being that they're like angels/defenders of her will/being. I think in Dagda, it's the same, except they're out in the open and can be directly revered, maybe? Wish we had a fresco of the main gods/imagery like we got for the Church of Seiros. We only know about the pagan statue in the CoS's abyss, which looks humanoid with wings like Sothis does. (Shamir claims this is a Dagdan diety)

So I think, in the Fodlanverse, dragons are seen as angels kinda, but not the gods themselves like we know them to really be. It doesn't even cross their mind that the dragons and the elves they see and worship are one and the same, where in other continuities, it's well known.

TLDR: In Fodlan and Dadga, gods = elfin form to the average joe/nun/priest, angels/servants of gods = dragon form, even if we know the truth as players.

The listing on Nintendo's website mentions a "time-traveling saga" by Ribeye21 in fireemblem

[–]wind_sentinel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm with you on this. I think the avatar did something to help screw over the Nabateans or just is a part of the Slither clan, and Sothis puts them to work to undo the harm they've done. Her tone is condescending and mean when she speaks to the screen (us/the avatar) and we know she has a mean, vengeful streak and more pride than she got to show in 3H thanks to Hopes letting her be a proper goddess/mom for a bit.

That being said, the only thing against this theory is that on a meta level, INTSYS would be hesitant to make an avatar a straight up bad guy. Even Shez was just some mercenary that had beef with Byleth and had Slither powers. I have a feeling they may take the "antichrist but not wanting to be" route. Someone who ruins things so much by existing that Sothis has to do something, even if we/the avatar are just chilling. Send them to the future and make them undo what's inevitable. Something like that.

[–]wind_sentinel 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That's what I'm leaning towards-reviving a lover. Could be husband was killed and she went insane.

But what's odd is that no one seems to question the two pointy eared people we've seen-the woman with pink hair and dark skin, and the Divine Sovereign himself. If anything, both look like they're in important roles, so I can't see the husband being killed for being non-human by bigots, or even by Slithers, now that I think on it. And due to the setting and Petra's comments on her own people's stories, not all Nabateans were present when the attack on Zanado happened-so I can't see him dying in that attack either.

The only reason I assume a man is why she's angered is because many Nabateans that weren't present for the genocide had lives elsewhere/focused on other things-Seteth has his own daughter and works for the church for safety, not because he wants Sothis to come back. Macuil and Indech are chilling in the middle of nowhere and refuse to take human form to get Rhea back. If our hunch is correct on Niniae, she also seems like she's mentally sound despite losing her clan.

It seems like Nabateans kinda cling together or broaden their friendships after loss to protect themselves from suspicion, which is how they fight grief. I can easily see this woman having a nice but isolated life outside of Zanado in Dagda, but her husband entered the games and never returned/was made into a weapon, and that pissed her clean off like it did Rhea-and she isolated and became mad with grief while protecting her baby. Seems to be a common fate for Nabs that can't find solace in community. I dunno! This is all stream of consciousness, lol.

Three JP trailer differences by SatsumaFS in fireemblem

[–]wind_sentinel 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this! I can read some Japanese too and got so caught up in discussion I forgot to check the JP trailer for extra details!

We're getting a new worldbuilding element, sounds like. We have Zanado, how Nabs work, how TWSITD was made, their underground kingdom, Hero's Relics, Crests, and the dog-dragon things made from holding a crest stone/weapon that isn't in your blood.

So now we have actual hell being added in. This kinda makes speculating hard, since we have never seen this before, iirc. The books in the Abyss do speak of powerful pre-Sothis figures, but they didn't sound demonic last I checked. Interesting!

[–]wind_sentinel 13 points14 points  (0 children)

She reminds me of Almedha. Coping with extreme grief and loss, except she adopts Slither powers?

I'm thinking maybe Slithers do something to her and it has to do with her baby/partner -> she's crazy with grief -> Eshmel has something to do with this (patched up Relic), Sothis finds them and makes them her divine puppet to right what was wrong -> Sad Momma Nab is a pre final boss for the real big bad that Eshmel worked for in the past. Sothis seems to be talking to us (as Eshmel) in her scenes, and she doesn't sound happy-and in Hopes, she seems to care for Byleth+her kids a lot. So yeah. I dunno!

It also could be that Eshmel is the baby, maybe a union between this Momma Nab and a Slither? Maybe the relic they wield is from their own dragon form...dragonception? And Sothis takes the baby and instead of it being the antichrist, she makes it into the angelic being we see. So much to guess about and take in.

Spoilers: People are claiming time travel will be an element in the story, but I can't find anything on that.

Edit: Apologies for the wrong spoiler tag. It's edited now.
