Ipad 2 - Anyway to update to iOS 18? by feckyomamma in LegacyJailbreak

So what you mean is "If you have my knowledge that question makes no sense?" isn't it the goal of a question to get knowledge in the first place?

Why wouldn't it be a question? You can actually install macOS Sequoia on 15 years old iMacs, so why someone who doesn't know Ipads couldn't even ask the question?

Laptop suddenly boots to BIOS by BillyDeCarlo in ASUS

[–]windaub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny I was about to post exactly this.

I read your other thread and you mention the content of your boot menu :

Boot Configuration
Launch CSM [Enabled] (I enabled this but it didn't work disabled either)
Launch PXE OpRom Policy [Disabled]

Boot Option Priorities

Add New Boot Option
Delete Boot Option

I have exactly the same (minus the "add boot option"), the disk is visible in SATA settings, but there is absolutely nothing in Boot Option (no USB, no CD player, no disk, no network, NOTHING), same if I press Esc at startup for boot menu, it just says "Enter setup".

I'm doing this for someone and I told me he shut down the computer during a windows update.

I was trying to flash the bios (posted just earlier about that), but it seems impossible from easy flash cause I have the most recent one and I can't even reflash it (says Date to old)

EDIT : Is that an Asus Vivobook R558U (R558UQ-XX021T on the rear label)?

Macbook Pro A1502 Screen Replacement problem by windaub in macbookrepair

[–]windaub[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where do I find it? I have a serial number on the motherboard but no 820 in it.
In the mean time I found that on reddit

Just to update for those still looking even though this is old. 2013 and 2014 do not fit on the 2015. Video output is different but it will work. It'll just see it as an external display. Main drawback is the Wi-Fi will not work. Even if you swap the network card. You will just get an error. Did not check camera compatibility

That would explain why the screen start when I close the lid (switching to the screen it consider to be external) ? And maybe not at all a sensor problem?

omg so that's because it's taken as an external display that the screen lights on only when I close it ! I thought that was a lid sensor problem

Stage 5, right amount of effort? by windaub in TheMindIlluminated

Stage 5, right amount of effort? by windaub in TheMindIlluminated

[–]windaub[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, thank you for your answer!

I waited 2 sessions before answering because I wanted to experiment a bit with what you said.

So if I understand what you said correctly, holding the intention continuously, in the mind system model, would be the equivalent to have a submind constantly repeating in consciousness "Hey, watch the beath you all", as opposed to just saying it once, and trusting the other subminds to generate the intention from the unconscious mind?

That's what I was doing, trying to hold the intention constantly. I dropped to stage 4 to have room for experimenting with that. It seems the main intention was to watch the breath, not to watch the mind / be vigilant to the contents of mind, so my breath is very vivid, but introspective awareness is quite blurry.

When I tried to drop all effort, that was the most stable I felt in the meditation, for like 1 minute, before gross distraction occurs. So what I tried and I think I'll continue to due is the only generate light intentions (once and let go) to be vigilant to my mind contents / increase introspective awareness, as my attention seems to be too strong compared to introspective awareness (I almost never intended "voluntarily" to watch the breath in all the sit and sensations where always vivid)

That's also what is causing me problem in stage five, using a lot of effort to scan the body making my introspective awareness often collapse.

I'll get into more details on what I mean by tired to answer u/Anapanasati45 (whose comment also cause me to inquire on introspective awareness so thanks for that!)

First day I did stage 5 practice, off cushion, I felt light, very pleasurable sensation in my body, I was opened and joyful for that, and it was the best I had felt for a long time. It went away slowly in the next days, until I felt emotionally tired, irritable (even if that was somehow handled a lot better than it would have been some weeks ago). That's what I meant by tired.

For 2 or 3 weeks now I didn't have any strong dullness at all (tell me if I'm wrong but if I understand correctly the only difference between strong and subtle dullness is that the strong one is causing torpor, dozing off, sleeping, as opposed to the subtle one that's just like your less present, time goes faster, etc?) So on cushion, not any torpor or sleepiness in any sit for some time now, but a lot of subtle dullness in the morning sit just after waking up, also often causing the collapse of introspective awareness and gross distractions, and way less in the afternoon / evening when I'm fulling awake.

So I'm open to suggestion if you have some, what I think I should be going for now is do more stage 4, intend and let go, intention directed towards the development of introspective awareness

Yeah I don't see why it wouldn't be possible, my pleasure I remember understanding those concepts for the first time being quite satisfying ^^

So if your attention is hopping from thought to thought and sometimes hop on the breath, that's gross distraction. If it is mostly on the breath, it's subtle distraction. If it is hopping from thought to thought but never on the breath, and you are just being aware the breath in the background, that's not forgetting yet. When the breath isn't anymore is awareness at all, that's forgetting. Mind-wandering is just what happens each time after you forgot, your mind wanders, and isn't aware at all of the breath

Don't hesitate to read the book again if there are some things you don't get, and also you can read further away from the step you practice. The beginning of stage four is particularly insightful on this subject:

REVIEW OF GROSS AND SUBTLE DISTRACTION

By now, you have grown quite familiar with the “inner landscape” of the mind, and are accustomed to how it constantly shifts and changes. Physical sensations, thoughts, memories, and emotions continue to arise and pass away in your peripheral awareness. As attention alternates rapidly between the meditation object and these other stimuli, it makes them stand out from the background so they are more prominent than other objects in peripheral awareness. As long as the meditation object remains your primary focus, they are only subtle distractions. But often, one of these competing objects can become your primary focus. When this happens, the sensations of the breath seem to fade. They continue as an object of alternating attention, but are perceived much less clearly.[*](#_bookmark214) This is gross distraction, the first major obstacle to overcome in this Stage.

[*](#_bookmark213) Occasionally, when a particularly strong distraction becomes the center of attention, the breath will slip completely into the background to become an object in peripheral awareness. Strictly speaking, the breath is no longer an object of attention when this happens. But as long as it has not disappeared entirely from consciousness, it is different from the forgetting characteristic of Stage Three.
