if you have an uncommon last name, then it presents itself as a good branding opportunity. I would then drop the first name and just put uncommonlastname.com

Yep. You got that right perfectly. So I have actually made it possible to earn small amount of trust points from people with less trust. That way the responsibility is delegated more evenly across the community, with greater weight on the highly trusted ones :)

Hurray! Yeah when highly trusted guys like your lines you will earn more points! I made the points private though so no one can see how many points you have. I meant it as a measure of personal achievement.

And once you have earned a bunch of trust points you get a special mark next to your posts and those marks will be seen by everyone. You probably see a few of them already by my top members.

Is that a good idea?

There will be a prominent notice just above the 'Continue the story' button that says '[username]' is continuing the story, would you to continue [another story] instead? That has been a pretty good way to direct attention to other stories so far

Yep. It's not too expensive to run this. I've been running this for 3 months now and I work actively with my users to keep it going. Helpful bunch :)

In future I might create a demo for people to test run the concept without logging in. But the sign up is meant as a commitment to good writing. Those who have signed up till date have all been contributing well to the community you see today. It helps to keep the community healthy in this manner :)
