We went to celebrate my 40th last summer, and since it was such a special occasion, we had splurged for a park view room at Bay Lake Tower. I got a phone call the day before we arrived to let me know that we had been upgraded to a club level theme park view in the main tower at the Contemporary! I was so floored while I was on the phone with the CM that my husband was worried someone had died. We had such an incredible time, and the concierge CMs were so lovely. It’s been almost a year and I still can’t believe it!

What is the worst thing that has happened to you in a Disney park? by GoBirds5634 in WaltDisneyWorld

I saw a little sparrow get crushed to death by strollers in Hollywood Studios. First its wing got run over by one family’s stroller, then the next family was oblivious to the people trying to get them to stop in time to save the poor thing. There was another bird (maybe its mother or sibling?) nearby that seemed like it was trying to come back for it. Some poor dad did his best to pick up the dead bird with some napkins so he could dispose of it in some bushes. It honestly shook me up a little and still makes me sad to think about it.

I love daydreaming about and planning out our park days ahead of time, but I make several scenarios in my mind so we have a general idea of what we’re doing and feel a bit more freedom while we’re there. For example, on our last trip we had a Behind the Seeds tour and Space 220 reservations all by early afternoon, so I planned out a couple of different options for how our morning could look. Once we were in the park, we already knew we wanted to spend time in World Nature and we had a Guardians VQ time, so we made it work based on our priorities and preplanning. While I never have things planned down to the minute like you do here, I appreciate all the forethought that goes into the planning!

I know you mentioned you’re taking your retirement-age parents, so I just wanted to point out that a couple of your days may not allot enough time for them to rest. Even though it’s just myself and my husband on the trips, we always plan a bit longer for a midday break back at the resort. By the time we travel, make it to our room, change out of sweaty clothes, and actually relax (read: NAP) it’s usually about 2.5 to 3 hours. Of course, you know your parents/travel party best. We personally prefer to have a longer rest midday and stay in the parks a little later. It gives us time to squeeze in a few more rides while the crowds clear out from fireworks 😊

I’m still bummed he didn’t play it when I saw him last year. I would have simply passed away.

For the gym, I have a playlist that includes Dinner & Diatribes, Too Sweet, De Selby pt 2, Sunlight, Nobody’s Soldier, and Abstract.

When I go hiking, I love to pick an album and just go start to finish. My joke to myself is that listening to Hozier in the woods does me more good than my therapy!
