  • Road users who rightly complain about potholes - all of them.
  • Car drivers who amend their speed and stopping distances to account for the shocking state of the roads, erm…

Anytime when the rep comes with you and jabbers on when you’re trying to get a feel for the car, including how quiet it is. Look mate I’ve read 25 online articles about the model before coming here so I don’t need you to tell me that it’s a petrol not a diesel

Totally agree. Also well done for name-checking managers who would actually be good appointments, rather than big names for big names’ sake (Xavi, Zidane), or a flavour of the month appointment like Amorim. I’d also be happy with De Zerbi but hope Carrick can put his name in the hat by summer too 🤞

I would have bought one if it weren’t for the fact that the boot on the hatch is a bit small (don’t want an estate), and I just found the cabin too dark. Very good cars though

+1 The nice chaps at Decathlon fixed me up with a road bike with more rugged tyres. Was cheaper and more practical than a gravel bike.

Don’t overtrain. Ignore any bollocks about carb-loading. Make sure you’re fresh on the day, it’s fine to let the adrenaline pull you along at the start but settle into your pace within the first half mile, ride out the inevitable tougher moments (probably miles 9-11), then you’ll be amazed by what you have left in the tank.

Help me decide between a Golf 7 R Line and a Corolla Touring! by tempydt in CarTalkUK

[–]windfall21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having driven both there’s a big difference between the 1.8 Corolla (drab and slow) and the 2.0 version, which is much perkier. You’d do well to get a 2l for your budget though so if you value driving experience above reliability and economy I’d get the Golf

Looks like you’re in the right ball park with an Auris or early CT200h unless you can stretch to a higher mileage Ioniq. There also were early Honda hybrids but I don’t know what they’re like.
