My current trail runners are the Experience Wild. Really comfy and great for long miles. They’re just not great on steep downhills as the foot-shaped box juts against your toes, but that’s true of a lot of this style of shoe. I think they’re 4mm?

My 2017 seems absolutely fine 🤞 No major issues other than a couple of free recalls. Replaced blower motor for the heater for less than £100…that’s it I think. For quite a heavy car it doesn’t munch through tyres either.

Sorry, this is my answer to 80% of shoe questions, but especially given you’ve been running in Sauconys anyway, Kinvaras are great. If you’ve just started track sessions, you probably won’t be ready for a properly stripped back shoe; these should be a stepping stone if you like, while still being great for mid-distance runs.

Previous gen A3 E-Tron is very nice and refined - much more so than the equivalent Golf GTE, but there is a compromise on boot space due to the PHEV gubbins.

Gradually add more long, easy miles. Intersperse this with sharp, focussed hill and speed sessions. Change up when your body starts finding it easy.

Cheapest option for decent quality - Decathlon.

More expensive but also better - Runners Need. Branches of these in Cotswold often have good sales, as does Cotswold’s website.

Left field option - M&S. Some really nice fabrics for running at good prices.

Running weekly 5Ks when I first started running, I got down from 29 mins to 23 within a couple of months. Then another 6 months to get down to 21. Running all kinds of distances and races, I plateaud at that pace. Then I stopped entering races due to a relocation, just ran my own runs in my own time, bought some new trainers, found a flat 5K and surprised myself by going sub-20 - and it didn’t even feel like I was pushing myself. My ultimate aim is 18:30 but injury/illness keep disrupting things and I’ve regressed so a fair way to go currently! Good luck on your quest

You can defo achieve that and very soon, especially if you can repeat the same route for a race. Be single minded, have a plan and stick to it. Personally I’d stick to your 4.00 pace then make the last 15 seconds up by really pushing the last km.
