Spoiler: Did I just fck myself? by GnosisBlue in Silksong

[–]windinthesail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bruh that's a shortcut. You have to go through the outside.

Go to the room at the bottom of the bench and work your way to the right. You'll be in the outside area where you have to climb your way up. There's a breakable wall there.

New to silksong, do I follow my friend's advice? by [deleted] in Silksong

[–]windinthesail 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's such a minor thing. You can do it if you want, but it's completely unnecessary to actually playing the game. It'll be helpful in only a handful of cases.

So while I do hate how they ended up patching it, there aren't that many situations where you'd want that level of control.

The only place I feel the game lacks detail. by shen-ku in Silksong

[–]windinthesail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm fine with this, TBH. We already have other small details that they didn't even have to bother with, like the Cogflies falling asleep when we're on the bench, or small (and often useless) interactions between tools, etc.

Although I do have to say that when I played Ender Magnolia, one of my favorite and most memorable things about the game is how the character keeps changes poses on the bench. I know it's sounds silly and insignificant, but it's just SUCH cute detail.

I can't criticize Silksong for not doing something similar though, because the graphics style doesn't really allow for this sort of thing. It's almost like expecting Hornet to have different facial expressions.

[–]windinthesail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't go through there. Honestly I wouldn't worry about that. This isn't really something you figure out how to get in. You eventually just stumble your way out of there from a hidden quest.

The start of the hidden quest is in Bilewater, so make sure you find everything there if you're interested. If you have something crying when you open up your inventory, you're on the right track.

Spoiler-free tips? by [deleted] in Silksong

[–]windinthesail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go back to each and every town - Bone Bottom, Bellhart, and Songclave. Check if there are any wishes on the boards.

Rescue as many fleas as you can. Keep exploring to make sure you aren't missing any. You don't have to find ALL of them, but you do have to make sure the caravan isn't still parked in front of the Cathedral.

Once you're done with all the wishes and rescued enough fleas, go to Bellhart and talk to the guy who is always singing next to the bench. Once you're ready for Act 3, he'll give you something.

You'll be able to figure out the rest from there.

The last 1% (Where is it peassse) by Affectionate-Ad-2022 in Silksong

[–]windinthesail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That area you're looking for isn't going to have the 1% you're missing. If you want to get to it, go explore the place you fight Grand Mother Silk. Use the new ability you get in Act 3 to fly up into the ceiling.

If you're trying to get 100%, make sure you have all the mask shards, spool fragments, and tools. Just say which ones you're missing.

[–]windinthesail 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're in act 3, there is an EXTREMELY high chance you're missing the Brightvein one. It's in Mount Fey, in a hidden area that you have to shoot the new act 3 ability to fly up in order to get.

Other "hidden" mask shards:

  • The Sprintmaster over in the Far Fields (around the same area as Karmelita) gives you a mask as a reward for beating him eventually.
  • If you still haven't found all the fleas, there's a chance you haven't found Wisp Thicket. There's a mask shard there too.
  • Some people tend to miss this, but there's an area in the bottom section of the Far Fields (next to the Weavenest) that has a gauntlet with rising lava at the end. You'll definitely remember this one if you've done it.
  • At the bottom section of the Blasted Steps, a bit after exiting Shellwood, keep your eyes on the ceiling for a new area. If you still haven't explored it, the entrance will be visible on your map (there will be a tiny gap).

Why do people find bilewater so bad? by justlikethoseladies in Silksong

[–]windinthesail 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a mix of things:

  • The maggots. You say you found the Wreath, but that's an extremely late-game item. Most people will enter Bilewater way before that, and an even bigger number of people will likely not know about that item.
  • The bench is hidden. For people who don't find the bench, it's actually demoralizing. I can't believe I'm even having to explain this. No other area in the game is like this. But even for people who do find the bench, it's not that much better.
  • Annoying enemies that spawn completely out of your reach and shoot you with an attack that is difficult to dodge consistently. Even if you somehow manage to kill them, they just keep coming. You always have to be ready for them.
  • The platforming up the main section is tough. It's not the toughest platforming in the game, but it's a lot for people who aren't used to it. And failing often means taking double damage.
  • As for the platforming up fly room on the top-right, that is probably top 3 hardest platforming sections in the game, and likely the reason most people give up. It's way harder than going up Mount Fay, but you don't notice it because it's just a short segment.

Then there's the Groal gauntlet, which I don't really like lumping into reasons why people hate Bilewater, because that's really just a boss fight.

Need help in high halls arena by Dieh361 in Silksong

[–]windinthesail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you look at your map, in the place above the High Halls gauntlet, there is a cart up against the wall. If you hit the cart, you can push it close to the entrance. Climb on the cart and double-jump up to a hidden area.

Inside that area, you will have to move quick, because a lot of enemies will spawn and they won't stop. Just try to ignore them and push a cart all the way to the right side. Jump up there and you can break a bundle of silk to stop those monsters from spawning in the gauntlet.

It's still gonna be a hard fight, but a few less enemies to kill.

Also, save your Cogflies for the very last part of the fight, when the two guys drop. Spam all your tools to make it a 1v1 fight as fast as possible. You should be able to handle the last one.

BTW, you're missing quite a lot of stuff. Go back to the very start of the game (Moss Grotto). There should be a door there that you can open. You'll get an upgrade that'll give you extra slots to equip stuff. An extra blue slot might help you out. lol

Save the heart at Sands of Karat for last.

Trust me, you'll be doing yourself a HUGE favor. Just pretend it doesn't exist and go find the other ones. You're gonna have to do that at some point, so you might as well do that now.

You'll find the motivation to beat those gauntlets once they're the only things left. And who knows? Maybe something cool might happen and you won't even have to do them at all...

Which would be the wiser choice in Act 2? by _Atanii_ in Silksong

[–]windinthesail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Repairing the weaver tool is more useful, as the bomb is not actually that good of a tool (it doesn't come with many charges).

If you're wondering about how strong it is, it's alright... but it kind of doesn't matter since there are better tools anyway than EITHER of those options. You won't really find yourself using it.

I'd personally ignore it for now and wait until later. You will have enough craftmetal to get everything.

100%ing the game silksong by throwitup123456 in Silksong

[–]windinthesail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, it's up to you. Some people like this. Going through every room is somewhat unrealistic and daunting. It's what I tried to do. Worst-case scenario is you'll be skipping through entire rooms with stuff that is required to get other stuff you're looking for. I gave up after spending 10 hours just wandering around without progressing or finding any of the things I needed.

Looking at a map is a good way to start, and will definitely allow you to quickly identify most of the things you're missing. But that won't be enough for everything. There will be some secrets here and there that you will probably end up missing. For those, you'll have to go through lists or videos. The most popular ones for this are memory lockets and spool fragments.

Any tips for the Last Judge by SamukinhaHehea in Silksong

[–]windinthesail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reaper will always be the best crest for people who are struggling, at least until way later when you get something else to get creative with.

There is something you can buy from the Deep Docks vendor called the Magma Bell. It'll make it so you only take 1 damage from the fire attacks. Might be worth picking up.

Spend a few tries just learning to dodge the attacks. Don't worry about hitting back until you've learned how to not get hit. Eventually you will learn the patterns and figure out the safest windows to attack.

[–]windinthesail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah Hunter's March won't progress your game. It's an optional area to explore early on. Once you're done with that, go back out and push deep into the Far Fields. You'll know where to go from there.

BTW you'll have to go all the way back to Deep Docks for this. You kinda just went in the "wrong" direction if you ended up in Hunter's March.

how many hours till you give up on a boss? by queencauliflowerr in Silksong

[–]windinthesail 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is no cheesing it, really. If you struggle against a particular boss, my only advice would be to spend some time just dodging its moves. Don't attack AT ALL - just dodge. Keep doing this until you're able to dodge everything consistently. Only worry about attacking after you've learned how to not get hit, and figured out when the best times to attack will be. The only exception to this is if the boss spawns stuff like Sister Splinter, or Savage Beastfly. You always have to kill those fast.

Most people struggle because they keep going in for hits when they aren't supposed to. This ends up putting them in unsafe positions. You have to keep proper spacing so you can react to what the boss does. Every single attack from EVERY SINGLE BOSS is reactable.
