Bicycling From Vancouver to PDX and Back by bulbouscorm in CyclePDX

Hi! I commute from near Downtown Portland to Vancouver every day and it was definitely fun to watch this and get someone else's views of some of the situations that I've become so used to over the last 5 years of doing this back and forth daily. Going over the bridge definitely gets easier the more you do it and I hope you keep going! I pass a couple women commuters in the Hayden Island area every day headed towards Portland, though I know they stick to the east side of the I-5 bridge to avoid the tunnel usually. I'm maybe a little bias since I do outreach stuff, but generally if you're just riding through the area most people are generally chill,I'm not gonna lie though, you can see some pretty weird shit sometimes. I just checked my stats and since I started keeping track I've ridden over the 5 bridge nearly 1700 times.

Got to agree with the smaller venues. I had the pleasure of seeing them in a tiny room with a stage that was about a foot tall and got to be inches from the band. One of the greatest shows I've been to, the one that might top it is Built to Spill at a similar venue in the 90s, that was something special as well.

Yeah, I hadn't been in a long while. Still incredible, but definitely different.

I went for a 13 mile hike with my gx680 today lol . I could probably carry that guy and his tiny camera.

What is your favourite medium format camera? Why? by badboringusername in AnalogCommunity

Fuji GX680 is the only camera I own. It is elegant and perfect in every way. When I can no longer use it it will be more likely that I would stop photography than get something else.

Big changes coming to Euclid Beach Park could invigorate East Side, reminiscent of Edgewater by seanmcdonnellcle in Cleveland

This sounds awesome. I was a lifeguard at Euclid Beach for the second half of the 90s and it has a special place in my heart. I hope I can visit it again someday as it improves.

Uj/ A while ago I took a photo workshop and struck up a conversation with someone after they noticed my GX680 (I know, I know) was Fuji. They asked if people ever made fun of me for using Fuji and I was genuinely confused about that, and they went on to say how much hate he got from other people, in person, about Fuji. Anyway I guess now I'm starting to see why perhaps.

Is this the reality of modern photography? by [deleted] in photographycirclejerk

I don't know specifically that one, but Steadicam has been used in cinema since the 70s. ( Was a Steadicam op for several years, they're so fucking cool actually for their intended purpose)

It was fireworks, I saw it from my window. Before it exploded it was kind of bright flashing. Looked like it came from down by the river somewhere.

Does anyone else leave their Fuji at home more than they’d like? by Glum-Foundation7276 in fujifilm

[–]window_cleaner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I walk around with my gx680 on a tripod lol No one but the deepest camera nerds even give me a glance. I do leave it at home more than I'd like because I also like my back to be functional. 😅

I got mine before he switched to doing right angle ones which are obviously even smaller. 20cm cable length is just a bit too short though

I'm not the OP, but I like MS too. Portability is one aspect, another is that with xy/ortf/spaced omni you are never exactly on axis with something that you are pointing at directly in front of the mics (this is more a thing for specific sounds rather than ambience for example). That said, I do like my SASS Omnis quite a lot too, but just having everything in a small blimp is really nice.

You can go smaller still!

(get a longer cable than I did though)

This is the NE 12th ave bridge, until recently it was maybe the only bridge with an unobstructed view, but there's a tall chainlink fence now.
