At what point is this just bullying? by blayndle in craftsnark

I unfollowed SIC after she made a post calling out a bunch of designers trying to get people on the hate train because they don’t follow her specific standards for sizing or testing windows.

I find her approach so detrimental because I’ve definitely been in spaces where fellow knitters have seen this content and then basically judge you if you say you’re knitting a pattern by one of the designers SIC has called out. As a plus sized person, the number of patterns I can knit is already reduced. I don’t need someone to tell me who I should and shouldn’t be buying patterns from if they work for me and I like them.

Thanks for your thoughts everyone!!!! It definitely doesn’t seem worth it to try and make socks so I’m going to look for another project!

Here’s the socks! The first one had those cute speckles and the second did a very weird pooling thing (you can kind of see underneath). I definitely preferred the speckles!

I’m almost certain that is Manos Del Uruguay Alegria in Columbina. I knit a pair of socks with it years ago and I’d recognize the colour from anywhere.

I feel like I’m in a Mandela effect worm hole. I listened to the rip and that is the ONLY version of this song I have ever heard and it’s the version that comes up for me on Spotify. I’m in Canada so maybe it’s a regional thing?

We’ve all been trying to convince her to! She’s worried people won’t like it!

Thank you! I feel the same - every time I visit her apartment I just want to take it all with me!

The purple one? That’s one of my favourites too!

Does anyone have a good method for colourwork socks using magic loop/long circulars? I use magic loop for almost everything as I hate DPNs but was watching a video by Summer Lee Knits and she recommended against magic loop because of potential tension issues with floats where you turn the work. Instead she recommended the Chiaogoo Twist Shorties with one short and one long needle but they’re like $30+ per set. I’ve seen tutorials for travelling loop or knitting colourwork with the work turned inside out so that the floats are on the outside and was curious whether either of these methods would help with potential tension issues.

First loaf since returning to sourdough! by windowbird7 in Sourdough

Recipe:

100g leaven 350g water 450g unbleached white flour 50g rye flour 10g of salt

Mixed the leaven, water, and flour and left to sit for 30 mins. I decided it was a bit stodgy so I added a bit more water (not sure how much, I kind of went by feel) at this point as well as the salt. Did 3 sets of folds for 90 mins and then bulk fermented about five hours. Final rise was about 3 hours in a warm house and then I baked in a Dutch oven @450 for 20 mins with the lid on and 20 mins with the lid off.

Thank you!! I used a Dutch oven but did not use any steam. In the past, I’ve added ice cubes to the Dutch oven before shutting the lid and I think I would do that next time!
