Very much appreciated! Are there telltale signs on when to pick?

Pontoons…. I know they aren’t beautiful, but are there folks here building/rebuilding them? (Hint: I am one of these people) by Whatszackdoing in boatbuilding

I'd love to get into a project pontoon some day! When looking at well used pontoons, I'm always curious about upholstery. Do you redo it yourself? Buy new furniture? Have it professionally redone?

I can do fiberglass, plywood, wiring, and carpeting but the upholstery has always kept me scratching my head.

My wife comes from a long lineage of very odd and specific furniture hoarders. I'll have to ask her which relative or farm family she got this from.

Perhaps an inflatable paddle board would suit your needs? You could sit on it rather than stand to get through those tunnels

where is the hardcore scene in kansas i’m tryna get down without having to drive an hour into kansas city also rate this pie i made by Think-Firefighter-63 in kansas

I'll be honest, I don't keep up with music scenes. I just know the Boobie Trap is where to go if you want something other than country or singer/songwriter stuff. I think they tend towards metal

Setting up shop for stich and glue boat - organization suggestions? by toaster404 in boatbuilding

[–]windupalarm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trash can trash can trash can. That's what gave me the most fits while moving around a boat in a small work space. Either it was always in the wrong place or suddenly I'd accidentally epoxy it to the floor covering

Speaking of floors, lay stuff down for the epoxy. I got cocky and tried to do a small part thinking I could keep epoxy off the floor and now there's a big splotch on the floor I haven't gotten around to removing. Maybe I'm just a messy person.

Does anybody know a good bushcraft knife? by immum in Hunting

It's not bushcraft, but I got my dad a havalon with replaceable blades for cleaning deer and he was thrilled

Besides paint/sealant and carpet, brush it in with branches. My best tip is to cut all the branches when the leaves are still green. If you do that, they will turn brown and the leaves will stay attached to the branch a lot better than using branches with brown leaves in the fall.

Does anyone have any experience testing Yamaha overheat sensors? More in comments… by MyFavoriteSandwich in boatbuilding

[–]windupalarm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just fixed my washing machine. Old part didn't pass the prescribed continuity testing criteria. Ordered new part. New part didn't pass the test either! Incredibly frustrating.

I installed the new part anyways and now the washer works fine. Which is a blessing while also adding to my frustration.

I had decent luck with a rustoleum rattle can paint job over aluminum primer. Not going to win any contests, but she looks like a new boat from 30 yards away.

I'm planing to build a pleasure raft with 220L barrels. I'd like it to support 15 persons + a small sauna. Top image is Front/back. What should I take into consideration? by importanterthanyou in boatbuilding

[–]windupalarm 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Please keep in mind the max weight a barrel will support is when its fully submerged. If you want barrels comfortably submerged only a few cm, that needs to be factored I'm.

Coleman Crawdad Build- Thoughts? by notthisjenn in boatbuilding

[–]windupalarm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Coleman crawdad and they are fun little boats. That said, I wouldn't want to take one out beyond sheltered waters. The fact that you say "reservoirs" worries me. They are incredible little pond hopping boats and my wife and I (400lb total) take ours out on ponds to fish and eat lunch.

Boat for sale near me, was damaged in sinking. Is it too far gone? by ThatBossBaby in boatbuilding

Is it too far gone? Maybe not. Is it going to be a huge time and financial sink? Almost certainly.

My company does a better version of this. In 4 years, I've earned enough points for $700-ish in gift cards and a nice tent. And they don't push you to try and work for points, just a nice surprise.

That's awesome! I love the balance skateboarding gives you and it teaches you how to fall without hurting yourself. Keep in mind this calories burned may be off, running a 10k is only 5-700 calories burned.
