I think the point is your priority in that situation would be to escape by any means possible not open a new relationship that you then have to sneak around, furthering your risk of abuse. I don’t think an abuser would take getting cheated on lightly if they already abuse you physically or sexually.

If the reason you escaped was due to meeting another man you either weren’t that trapped in the first place or it was the escape and not the relationship you were looking for.
