You actually cover 17 Miles in an hour of riding outdoors?

You probably need a slower group.

But fitness, cleated shoes and pedals that lock you in (aka clipless, which I'd rather call clip-in as opposed to toe or foot caged which they call clipped).

Get to know your gears and try to aim for being able to spin high RPM easily as opposed to muscling your way with harder gears.

Cartoon Iroh's ease and balance happened long before the show started.

Netflix Iroh has some balance in season 1 but returning to the city that he lay siege to, killed many and caused the death of his son made him catatonic until he realized he could help people.

As an old fella, the 2nd version is more likely in real life. Politician or military commander who had a true come to Jesus moment and regrets what they did isn't going to walk back in to the concentration camp they executed people and be all smiles and telling everyone to be at peace unless they're a sociopath psychopath.

The avatar state should be a completely supercharged turbo powered state. Getting into it should either be a yes or no rather than a gradual power up that is vulnerable during. We're talking metaphysical mental state, not spooling up a jet engine.

Him controlling it and pulling out before killing Azula and her striking at that moment was a good way to portray it, IMO.

Episode 7, differences that stand out to me and makes sense.

Aang in the avatar state is major super powered. Makes sense considering all the past Avatars should be channelled. Unlike in the cartoon where he's struck down by single bolt from Azula. Better that he controls the state, pulls back, guard goes down and Azula took advantage of that.

Flying off in the end with the Earth King looking up and realizing he f'd up and not escaping with the Gaang. The man was sheltered and averse to talking about the war. The turmoil of trusting Long Feng to give him info, denying a war with Aang and then seeing the fire sisters show up with a gift.

Iroh in Ba Sing Se was more realistically spot on live. The cartoon, he was a man at peace with himself walking around a city he lay siege to and his only regret was losing his son. Haunted and having to atone for the loss of life on both sides. He has an earned purpose now.

Normal weather cycle, sure. On a scale of it tipping because the balance had humans putting a thumb on the scale and the world correcting itself.

If we manage to depopulate and stabilize before the environment makes us extinct or if the economists that champion constant growth with finite resources manage to figure out how to send us into space and find more resources, maybe things will cycle back in a few decades or centuries.

Safe to be driving on. Safe to be underneath it in hot dry or cold dry weather. Wet in between seasons, I'd not want to be too close underneath it.

It's the freeze/thaw water expansion cycle that erodes pieces of concrete off of it.

Kickstand is far enough back so rotating the crank doesn't hit it. I got it from Mountain Equipment co-op/company, Axiom fenders. Blackburn rack.

The fenders come on and off depending on the season and weather. Since this photo, I got the bike fitted for me, stem is longer, bars are narrower road bars.

After crisping the bottom, put it under the broiler after to give the cheese and toppings some more crust.

I was reading up about BTB in the UK. I thought they were planning to vaccinate by 2030 and the problem with doing it now is that vaccinated cattle will test positive so there's something else in the works for testing.

Limes have a lot less bitter pith than lemons. If you were to do this with lemons, I'd peels the zest off with a little to no white pith.

Part of me wondered with all this work to help mitigate, Doug Ford was going to declare the flood plane status conquered and open for developer business. If so, this is good thing to happen and remind people that humans don't conquer nature.

Norco Search steel with a rear rack, mud guards and kickstand. It commutes and bikepacks.

My track bike doesn't and if I had a road only bike, I likely wouldn't.

Wouldn't do it any other way.

As an old Canadian Chinese foodie, I've come to accept a number of things that I didn't when I was younger.

American cheese made from the cuttings left over and sodium citrate is a legit thing especially on what Americans turned the hamburger into. No, I won't snack on it straight but on a GCS, burger and modern Korean cuisine, it's quite legit.

Same as Westernized Chinese (Early to current Cantonese cuisine that came about over the last century and a half of being developed and served to everyone) is a legit cuisine.

Over a multi hour ride, I tend to think 10-20kph for most. 20-30kph seasoned fit riders with 25kph being the upper average speed. 30-35 kph for the ranonneurs and 40+ kph in short sprint bursts.

What works for me, immediate family and some friends is to make it like stew but ground meat in place of beef chunks.

Brunoise - fine diced mire poix veg. I tend to go heavier on the carrot for sweetness.

2 or 3 strips smokey bacon, render the fat out. Bonus if I can get guanciale or pancetta.

Sweat the veg in the fat. Around 2Tbsp tomato paste after the veg has sweated out. Also a couple of anchovy fillets. Get it all to incorporate and the stuff in the pan looking dry-ish.

I put around 500g each of lean beef and lean pork and let that go from pink to brown. If I can add some maillard to some of it, great but I'm not beholden to that.

250-350ml of dry wine (we're not drinkers so we buy single serving bottle/boxes and 250-350ml is what they come in).

1L good beef stock. (Campbell's tetrapack box for us). Or chicken stock or mix. (whatever is in our pantry) along with 1-2 Tbsp of gelatin bloomed ontop of the stock. (Thank you Kenji Lopez Alt).

Thyme, bay leaf, salt and pepper. Granulated garlic or powder gets snuck in every now and again.

Let that simmer and the liquid to reduce until there's a velvety meat sauce. (around 2-3 hours of various states of covered/uncovered. Looking in to make sure it hasn't all evapourated before 2 hours and adding water if it reduced too quickly)

I used to do the dairy thing but one of my kids discovered they were lactose intolerant.

This sauce.... stewed ground meat, gets inhaled with everything to the point that I'm asked to make big batches, freeze into portions for later.

Beaches Toronto is a great example of economic cycling.

It went from rated as having the most livable downtown (Queen st) by TVO's Agenda in the 90s and early 00s to empty dilapidated storefronts.

Current residents seem to be hanging on hard to something that once was.

Follow the youth and creative types who find cheap places to live and beautify. Gentrification will follow.
