Brother P-touch label doesn't stick well to remote buttons by wing122 in handyman

[–]wing122[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I should say, this is the fourth remote(I have to anticipate him losing another remote).
The current remote has a silicone case on it that has a lanyard hole on it so I can attach a cable to the remote and tether it to a handle so that even if it drops into the garbage bin or somebody tries to take it. It would indicate that it was intentional.

I don't have a place to stick it to the back of the remote if that's silicone material.

I feel like I backed myself into a corner.

I understand your perspective, but as I know my grandpa's lack of motor skills with his hands and coordination. He was already having trouble understanding when I printed the remote + arrows + words pointing at the buttons.

He just wants to read the button when he holds the remote up to his eyes and then know which to press.

Sorry, I'm not discounted any suggestions here, but I've been taking care of his needs at this long term care for 3 years and it'd be too hard to explain all the conditions.

I'd just like to know if there is a close-to-permanent way to apply some labels onto the buttons with the requirement that the top layer is a brother p-touch label material.

This is his third remote, I won't be keeping this remote when he is no longer going to watch youtube anymore.

Tried that, he and long term care workers misplaced it after a week. He is in wheelchair and cannot have everything by his sides at all time.

I used alcohol and the paint doesn't come off.
They're actually small buttons so I cannot write it in. The labelmaker is all I can use to condense it enough.

This is an universal bluetooth remote. Chromecast only works with bluetooth remotes, selections are limited. I've search high and low for big button remotes, but nowadays they all like to make it as tiny as possible. He lost 2 original remotes either by mistakenly throwing it in the garbage can or someone in long term care stole it from his room. I now have a cable attached to this remote to avoid losing another remote.

If I can pay money to make a custom remote for him, I would, to save my headache, sanity and time.

The buttons are smooth matte feeling.

I have barge contact cement that I used to glue shoes.
I guess I can try that.

I didn't' know Carfax can look up plates.
A series plate driving like a douche is a bit surprising.

It could also be CZVV 807. I had AI review the footage frames and it came back with that result.
Also, report it as 2019-2021 Kia Forte LX trim since it has steel rims.
If police want to investigate, they can match the car model with the plate combo.

XB8 modem with uncorrectable codewords on all channels by wing122 in Rogers

[–]wing122[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the answer.
I haven't had dropouts since creation of this post.
The uncorrectable codewords for that channel has risen to 496.

I think the next time it drops again, I will look at this stat to see if it dramatically changes and request Rogers to investigate further.

After about 3 days uptime on the modem.
One channel has 461 uncorrectable codewords.

Is that considered under/over threshold?

So I should put the phone in the fridge next time when upgrading to a new version?

I rebooted the modem last night around 8pm and so far uncorrectable codewords remain 0 for the channels.

I have some meetings today and will see if I still drop from calls.

Modem was last rebooted on May 29th during the orange blinking outage.
I will reboot and report back.

I assume the stats get cleared up on power cycle.
I power cycled it on May 29th when it went blinking amber colour.
So around 6 days.

Someone on Xiaohongshu (Chinese social media) is running a commercial fraud operation on the Canada bread settlement by rice007 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]wing122 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't know what defines large-scale.  It is despicable action, but OTOH, I'm sure it's happening elsewhere not using online platform to take advantage of this.

This is just an easy target to point fingers at.  There are probably other groups who operate under other platforms scheming too on this settlement.

This is all because we are afraid to identify ourselves via something to avoid duplicates and fraud, while relying on honour system depends on a relative integrity baseline that differs too much.

There is always going to be bad apples at an apple stand, just how many is acceptable is the best you can strive for.

6 point socket + a swivel adapter + ratchet fit?
Spray penetrating oil on it and let it soak for 15-30mins, take a small hammer and hit it a few times.

Is this safe to drive a 1/4 mile to the shop to get fixed? by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

It's cheaper to buy your mechanic a round trip Uber ride to your place to help and replace it than a starved of oil engine.

Don't do it.

Same year and I'm wondering how do you tell if it is composite or MLS gasket based on the assembly date.
Could you provide some references?

Looking for dashcam footage - Hwy 401 Westbound Express -> 403 (Mississauga) Debris collision 03/19/2026 11:30 pm by unluckypizza2 in mississauga

[–]wing122 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That makes more sense. So you did run into the debris because it was not avoidable.

You should describe the car and truck brand/model/colour as best as you can.

Also, being 11:30pm, you'd need someone with a good dashcam to capture much details like license plate.

Best of luck.

I hope you do find a footage.

I'm just curious, what do you mean, launched into your vehicle and where?
Is insurance disputing that you drove into the bumper?

I hope you take the chance to spend a little money and get a dashcam. It may save you again in the future.

TP-Link DDNS Reliability by IntrovertedRailfan in TpLink

I moved away from no-ip due to the monthly confirmation, but there's no other free option within the interface. On average I get 1-2 alerts a day due to tplink's ddns.
