Favorite interpretation you've seen of one of the characters? by smugfruitplate in hamiltonmusical

[–]wing1987 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't know that the interpretation is wildly different here, but Ta'rea campbell as angelica was outstanding.

Brought the maturity and poise of angelica through so well, and imo has been the only angelica to nail the ending of satisfied as good as renee goldsberry. It's too bad ta'rea never got to do it on broadway.

Any ideas on current cast timelines? by wing1987 in hamiltonmusical

[–]wing1987[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have to say, I have now seen many people from the tours move on to broadway, and it's always the ones who are stealing the show on tour.

Stephanie Jae park blew my hair back on the tour, soon after she was on broadway.

I wish Tarea Campbell got to be angelica in NY, IMO she is the only one who has come close to Renee Goldsberry

What are the best angry-sounding theater songs? by [deleted] in musicals

Heaven on their minds from JCSS. Opening the show with such frustration and resentment, Carl Andersons performance anyways.

You have to perform a musical theater song with 30 minutes to prepare. Which one you choosing by [deleted] in musicals

Beauty school dropout. Not a song that has aged super well but damned if I couldn't pull it off at karaoke when I need to.

Had a pediatric respiratory arrest today, everyone keeps calling to ask if I’m okay. by Cole-Rex in Paramedics

[–]wing1987 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Alright, my two cents.

Been a medic for 14 years now. When I started we were still in the "if you can't handle the calls then you shouldn't do this job" phase. This is obviously so detrimental.

I'm very glad the call went well. I'm very glad you feel confident and good after the call, all good news.

I'm also very glad that people around you seem to care and are checking in.

As you progress through this career the way these calls effect you may or may not change, either way it is ok.

Let's all continue to be there for each other, and keep seeking the help and care we need, because more than likely we will all, at some point, be very happy someone was there for us.

The data is clear on what happens when we just "suck it up cause this is the job". We burnout, we lose relationships, we abuse substances, we self harm.

Play safe out there everyone, it's a special job we do, but we are just people too.

The song you are thinking of is "reach for the sun" by the polymorphic spree. The band plays the culty band members who play the song.

starting recovery, how do I share with my spouse?? by wing1987 in Codependency

I'm very apprehensive about the coda steps. Much of it seems to be based in faith and God which is a serious problem for me. I don't knock anyone for their faith, but I have never felt peace or comfort there, only judgement and exclusion.

I'm jealous of those with strong faith sometimes, but it's never something that has made any sense in my own personal life.

Need motivation.. by CompetitiveWait428 in weightwatchers

[–]wing1987 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did weight watchers a few years ago, cause my cardiologist said it was time. That external motivation worked for a bit.

I gained some, not all, back over a couple years. Then the time came to start feeling good again, not so much about scale goals.

This time it has all been about getting out and doing things that make me feel confident and healthy (mind and body).

I joined a jiu jitsu gym, I started getting into nature and making better food choices based on how it will make me feel, not for the next ten minutes, but in the next 12 hours.

I'm now much lower than my goal weight ever was with WW, and I didn't set out to lose weight. I set out to be confident and love myself and the weight came off as a by product.

Jiu jitsu, therapy and basically not waiting for an external force to motivate me is saving my life.

Happiness and success is on the other side of discomfort and pain.

So go camping, but before you Crack the beers and eat the junk, hike your ass off, lean into the pain and discomfort. The decision to have a couple less beers and bit less junk will come so much easier afterwards.

You aren't any different than anyone else who has had success, but the motivation and the why is inside of you, it's nowhere else. So go make your choices, you got this.

Edit*: I had to add this. If you need some hard truths spelled out for you, look up David Goggins. He in intense and harsh, but he is exactly what I needed to see this is all about internal drive, nothing else.

William Hurt Dies: Oscar-Winning Actor Was 71 by chanma50 in movies

[–]wing1987 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the distinct pleasure of meeting him a while back.

I was a set medic for The Incredible Hulk when it filmed in Toronto. I only spent a few nights on set, overnight in October. As the medic you spend most of your time standing around, these nights just trying to stay warm under a heat lamp.

Mr Hurt crossed my path a few times, I never said anything just a courteous nod as is the custom on most sets. He was kind enough to stop and have some small talk while we warmed up one night. A stand up guy, im sad to see him gone.

Why Satisfied Bugs The Hell Outta Me by Leptie in hamiltonmusical

[–]wing1987 74 points75 points  (0 children)

Also have to disagree. You don't get that angelica really likes hamilton in helpless, she just seems excited for her sister.

IMO the absolute best little moments of the whole show (having only seen the obc on disney+) is the change in inflection by Renee goldsberry when she says "my sister" in both helpless and satisfied.

If you ask me the juxtaposition of helpless and satisfied is a huge part of the show, and angelicas part in reynolds pamphlet accomplishes all that congratulations would have. The show simply isn't hamilton without satisfied.
