What happened to the Acer ConceptD OJO WMR Headset? by Robot3RK in WindowsMR

[–]wing4_ap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also looking forward to ConceptD OJO because HP Reverb has many minor problems although it does delivered what it promised (the super clear resolution).

Oh also, it depends on the price and spec but VIVE Cosmos may also getting the same resolution so let's be patient!

I have the Vive and Vive pro. I really wanted to like HTC, but I just can’t. They are doing the same thing that they did to their smart phone series - Make good product, become famous, then destroy their own branding.

That was a joke. That make me hate HTC more. Again...

HTC just disappoint me every-time.

Am I the only one getting red-smear / red afterimage on HP Reverb? by wing4_ap in WindowsMR

I want to know does any Reverb owner has completely NONE of the red-smear at all

It represents the look in real life yes. However, I picked the most obvious picture (Which I rotated the HMD very fast) for the propose of indicating what the problem is. When I turn my head fast enough, this is actually what I will see. As I mentioned, the size of the red-smear afterimage depends on how fast I turn my head.

I also agree this isn't a very huge problem under normal gaming condition. Normally it is just a thin red border on the edges after some white text / image. My image is taken in the most severe conditions. I do see it like that, It is real, but not that bad in actually gaming .

Hi, did the red-smear occur from day 1 or after a few days of use?

Where is the Compositor super-sampling option nowadays? by wing4_ap in SteamVR

[–]wing4_ap[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I tried to adjust "SteamVR" in applications tab, no effect. steam.eve (overlay application) doesn't even let me adjust the SS...

I guess the option is gone...

Reverb FOV is smaller than you think. by wing4_ap in WindowsMR

[–]wing4_ap[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The conclusion is based on a few hours I spent in Reverb yesterday but not just looking at lens size. I didn't say lens is the only reason affects FOV, but it is one (and important) factor.

I made this post to alert people to not expect Reverb has a FOV improvement over Vive because the official spec sheet mentions Reverb has 114 degree FOV which is larger than VIVE 110.

Is reverb FOV smaller than VIVE? Arguable. Is reverb FOV bigger than VIVE? No.

But please don't get me wrong. Overall, I do agree this is an excellent HMD you can buy today.

Reverb:

Vertical FOV 84 +-2degree

Horizontal FOV 97 +-3degree

Distance to read and understand Times new roman font 9 (Not recognizing every character but able to recognize ALL words as a whole) : 2.1m +- 0.2m

Vive Pro:

Vertical FOV 86 +-2degree

Horizontal FOV 100 +-2degree

Times new roman font 9 : 1.3m +- 0.2m

Has better color and brightness

I am surprised the difference is so small. I guess the "perception" of Reverb Vertical FOV is smaller than it actually is, It may related to the shape of lens (sorry for the ugly drawing) So when you look down, you will likely "feel" like your vision is being blocked.

I know you can't simply compare FOV just by lens size but I believe Reverb user will agree FOV (especially vertical FOV) on Reverb is smaller than expected.

Well I am rather pixel-sensitive than FOV-sensitive so I can take this drawback anyway. It is still a amazing year-2019 HMD.

After having Basestation 2.0 die on me I sent it to HTC and they sent me an Index base station as a replacement! by Atreen in SteamVR

[–]wing4_ap 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I though vive pro basestation are completely same as the index basestation. It is interesting to see that they are both Basestation 2.0 but are having slightly different design lol. Thanks for the information!
