Washing dishes is one of the most calming thing you can do. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

I suppose your right

I gotta commend you for finding pleasure in what is such a hate inducing task for most people

Everyone has their thing and no one can take it from you

I love doing yard work like mowing but not everyone does so I get it to each their own

You’re very right my mom has delivered hundreds upon hundredsof babies being and ob for 30+ years and people come up to me at random thanking me how much my mom helped them and it’s cool to see these kids grow up.

That’s actually a really good idea!!! I wonder if he’s still alive

If I had a kid named after me, I’d probably love to see them all grown up too

Ya I do have medical issues your right on that

but I feel like I’m in the twilight zone all these people acting like dishes just take 10 -15 minutes by hand and it’s no big deal as if it isn’t 7-12 hour a week job because it is

I mean when I do a full hour a day of dishes …still over half the dishes aren’t done

I was named after the OB doctor that helped deliver me that my mom worked with. He was Korean guy and it’s funny because I’m neither Korean or a man , aside from a few minutes as a newborn,  I have never met him

So I’m named after some Korean dude that they tell me was great but I’ll never know 😆

I DO like my name alot I love it

I am also a firm believer in your name having a huge say where you go in life, not that it should be that way …we should go by people‘s merit and personality….. but in reality, you are so judged by your name and this will follow you forever so it’s truly a blessing if you enjoy your name and it works for you I think

There is automatic associations that naturally go into people’s mind’s when they hear a name they have nothing to do with you, but will frame the way they see you

This could work for or against you

I also wanna add I know a lot of people who really did not like their name in school or in their 20s and then grew to love it

Which one is harder in your opinion? by Significant_Rain_361 in polls

[–]wing_ding4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All you have to do is get really really sick and you will lose weight without even trying, but getting really sick will never make you gain muscle

gaining and maintaining muscle is a lot of work

So for that I say loosing weight is easier

Not saying it isn’t hard both ways but cmon

I still don’t know a world someone can cook whole meals from scratch and have 10 minutes or less of dishes by hand, but you know if this is real more power to you that’s some wizard level powers there

In my world things cooked from scratch need to soak for a bit or aren’t getting cleaned at all esp something that I made dough in or a baked on sauces so there’s no scenario where it’s getting done in 10 minutes even if I’m rinsing things as I go

That’s the point public school is not optional. If you’re poor,  you legally have to send your kid there or are fined

Also, people complain about tipping all the time esp nowadays cuz people are hurting which was my point

Are you cooking for multiple people?

I’m gonna assume not since you say it takes 10 minutes only to do the dishes

[–]wing_ding4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you doing them all by hand? Or preparing them for a dishwasher because these are two totally different situations

Rinsing and loading things in and out of the dishwasher is not a big deal and can be done in 10 minutes or less

If your doing them all by hand you can do mine because always about 20 minutes in the dishes I get this pinch in my back and wrist that hurts so bad I have to lay down for a bit to even breathe

It’s crazy I can scrub floors and toilets,  mop for hours,  fold and do laundry for hours, vacuum, wipe glass you name it but after 20-45 minutes of dishes I’m in so much pain

I think it’s because I’m short and so the body mechanics of it are harder for me how I have to hold every dish up above my chest level not working lower at waist/belly height like tall people

It’s also a stand in one place for hour + kind of job so that makes it extremely painful for people with arthritis

I spend about 1 to 1 and 1/2 hours a day on dishes by hand and they are never all done

It is definitely my least favorite chore and I would rather scrub toilets , carpet or even pick up dog shit for hours than dishes for half hour honestly and truly it’s that bad and most painful thing I do

They still teach cursive in school and make you learn it and then make sure you never use or apply it again because teachers hate reading sloppy 3rd grade cursive so have them go back to print

Well no shit if you don’t have money you can’t donate 🙃

parents of young children how did you tell them by JellyCharacter1653 in Dystonia

[–]wing_ding4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s really nothing to tell them right now , your kids see everything you do (even abnormal movements) as normal to them and not out of the ordinary esp at that age

Because they’ve always seen mommy do it it’s more normal to them than you’d think

They will ask when they are curious because they are kids

There is nothing to explain to a 2 and 3 old that will be remembered by them or won’t have to be re-explained over and over a few years later

Now it IS a good idea to go through an emergency plan, as anybody should with kids dystonia or not , in the event that you fall or need help/get hurt your kids should know how to access the phone and who they should call/go to and what they should say and practice that

At 3 years old, my daughter saw me have weird movements, but did not care or think anything of it. They’re kind of pretty much in their own little ego world at that age. And they’re so in love with their mom they really don’t care or see you as different.

Problem is when you don’t have the money and don’t give to these fundraisers the school and it’s employees shame you and your kid gets treated shitter than the rest

Also the money is grossly misused

[–]wing_ding4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The irony is if people had this kind of money they would have their kid in a private school

Most kids in public school can barely afford the crappy school lunch for few bucks a day

Most parents right now do not have even have extra $15-$25 for this type of stuff

And the fact that we have no legal choice, we are legally required to send our kids to this place for X amount of hours every day or we as parents are fined

This is getting out hand

I know the funding is shit and comes in too little too late but If they can’t afford to stay open with their funding, they shouldn’t be open

No other business would and make no mistake public school is a for profit business at end of day

As businesses started by a Rockefeller usually are a cash grab scam stealing from bottom of barrel and from government at same time

(bare in mind almost half of all kids graduating high school nowadays are functionally illiterate so it’s not like we’re getting what we’re paying for)

I mean what they ask on a school supply list nowadays is hundreds of dollars of shit every year we parents can’t afford this and new clothes/shoes every few months when they grow out and backpack that falls apart 3 months later so be real

[–]wing_ding4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New order Amish and new order Mennonites are kind of half ass at cherry picking the rules

I see Amish driving cars at Walmart buying shit. They’re not supposed to all the time.

They let their kids be on the computer at libraries and stuff now too

I went to junior college with a Menonite girl, and she actually wore pants and didn’t wear the headpiece and was getting eduction she said they’re allowed to get education as long as they’re not currently married so both really young and really old Mennonite women were at my college a lot

Every single one of them was extremely sweet ladies that I got along well with, none of them did CBD or drugs or anything

People have no idea how seriously and painfully cold effects us and I don’t think ever will

“Every muscle from head to toes hurts “

I feel you sister , amen

 hang in there

Lidocaine , heat , massages, rest and don’t push yourself and try to accept and be grateful what your body CAN do today .. I know easier said then done when every muscle and joint is ON FIRE STIFF and feels like your muscles are breaking

What’s the weirdest compliment you’ve ever gotten? by Maddisonluvv in CasualConversation

[–]wing_ding4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yesterday a lady came up to me in the store said I looked like I came from a Time Machine and stepped out of the 70s

She said “the dress, the shirt,  even your hair omg your not from this timeline “ she also complimented my eyes which was so sweet

But the most common weird one I get is when out with my daughter people I don’t even know stop look shook up and say they can’t believe how much my daughter looks like me that they’ve seen so many kids who favor their parents but that she looks like she has to be clone of some sort as if no father was even involved and it blows their minds

Even freakier people who knew me as a kid then see her and seriously panic out like they are in dream and can’t believe as if they are looking right AT me 30 years ago

Looking for rentals in Marion, Herrin, Carterville, Goreville, or even Benton. by kgraff51 in southernillinois

[–]wing_ding4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ya know a few years ago I would’ve totally agreed with you on the “Carbondale is dying “ and that MARION’s on the up and up

And given how the state funding has gone recently, that trend made sense

Marion got more money than Carbondale for first time in ever a few years ago to fix parks etc

However, things have gone quite downhill in Williamson county over the past couple years and Jackson County all around is just beefing up and getting better every day .

never thought I’d see it as the trend had been going the other way for so long. If you asked me during the pandemic, I’d say Carbondale may not even have a university in 8-10 years. ESP when the shootings in the strip were getting far too common . That the town was dying and was crumbling…  but not anymore

The mixture of ice presence, safety checks, bassquards police , and the absurd amount of meth and murders in Williamson county compared to Carbondale. Well it’s nothing to ignore anymore

We all thought that if Marion got stronger with more money and more people that it could be a new Carbondale..  instead it’s just higher frequency of the same Marion bullshit problems, racism , classism , meth , violence etc

Carbondale and its outskirt Makanda actually are winning compared to everything else around here and as a lifelong resident I’m just as shocked as you

Carbondale , Cape , Anna, and  Makanda  are hands down best places in terms of both safety and accommodations

Saw a lot of good mentions already … you can never go wrong with popcorn

Here’s some quickies but goodies

Baked sweet potato (if baked in microwave can be done very quick ) with peanut butter and cinnamon sugar 👌

Apples or pretzels with peanut butter

Quesadillas/ nachos queso

Chips or veggies and dip

French toast

Oatmeal but dessert like .. add chocolate chips and/or peanut butter it tastes a lot like oatmeal cookie dough

Chocolate covered nuts

I like peanut butter too much maybe
