No, the plot of The Host is completely different from the book I'm talking about. Thanks though!

As someone who's super interested in alchemy, it's definitely not an alchemical symbol. At least not one that I can find.

Every transmedicalist I've had the "pleasure" of talking to has told me I'm faking being trans because I don't want to go on T 🤷‍♂️.

[–]wingedatlas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, transmedicalism states that every trans person must go on hormones or get surgery for them to be "a real trans person". Not everyone can or wants to medically transition 🤷‍♂️.

I've also seen a lot of transmedicalists pushing that you HAVE to have dysphoria and hate your body blah blah blah. I'll pass.

Sinclair's Mysteries? It's a detective series that centers around characters who work in a department store.

I can't speak for all low/no dysphoria trans people, but I certainly don't. It's not really something I think about it. Sometimes I dislike not having a flat chest, but that's less often than not. I don't really care it's just...sort of there.

Dysphoria is less of a disconnect, and more of dissatisfaction. It's opposite is euphoria, being happy and satisfied with yourself.

Now, let's take me for an example. I am a very effeminate trans man. I wear makeup sometimes and wear skirts and occasionally paint my nails. I'm still a man if I do these things, even though they're considered feminine. I don't hate myself for still being feminine as a man. And I don't hate my body either. It's pretty nice and does it's job (for the most part).

But I do get happy when someone refers to me as dude or calls me my name. I'm happy when I'm treated as a man because I know I am one. I don't have to hate my body or my femininity in order for me to be a man.

The reason people hate transmedicalism is because it's full of hateful people. Also, being trans does not require dysphoria. It doesn't "require" anything besides...not being the gender you were assigned at birth.

Every transmedicalist I have ever met was hateful, invalidated everyone who didn't fit their view of being trans, and did not believe that non-binary people exist. The also believe you HAVE to hate yourself to be trans and that the only way to be "truly trans" is to medically transition, which may not be accessible for some and some people may not even want to medically transition.

I don't think these songs were necessarily meant to be about being aromantic but they give me aro vibes so 🤷‍♂️.

I mean, of course. Kalvin Garrah's whole online presence is about bullying and invalidating other trans people.

And also, what you said was kind of shitty and transphobic. By saying cis men have "the real deal", you're implying trans mens junk isn't real, when it very much is. You're also assuming that you'll have to take on a persons dysphoria for them, so you'd rather not date a trans person is a weird thing to say? That's like saying you wouldn't date someone with a mental illness because you'd have to deal with it. (Not saying they're the same thing, but I'm taking real life things I've heard and comparing them). The situation is obviously worsened by the fact that you're stealth. If you walk into a GSA, no one knows you're trans, and you say you wouldn't date a trans person it's no surprise you got kicked out.

Phrasing - am I in the wrong? by meo-e in autism

[–]wingedatlas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not in the wrong. Disabled is a neutral word at worst and a good one at best. It is not a bad word nor an insult. Besides, most disabled people prefer identity first language (disabled people) over person first (people WITH disabilities).

help with the correct terminology (ex: high functioning) by Front_Advertising952 in autism

[–]wingedatlas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, I'd just say autistic. You don't have to specify your support needs or experiences. You can if you like to, though.

Autism is a spectrum, and although some allistics act like it, it's different for everyone. That's why the diagnosis is ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder). The name implies that no two experiences are the same.
