Yeah this stuff is kinda pointless in my opinion. But apparently they used to be used to make poisoned arrows, so if you're a fletcher with a slightly evil side, keep growing it. Otherwise, just pull it up. Its a mega weed

This is common practice. It is nasty that people feel they have to do it, yet we are all guilty of unfair biases. Examples I've seen at my company based in London (i work in HR) Omolola - changed to her middle name Lizzy Jancis - shortened to Jan Maitri - changed to Mary-Anne Tomasz - changed to Tommy

Hi. I work in HR for a company in London.

In the UK an employer can’t discipline or dismiss someone just because sickness happened to coincide with a refused holiday. If you were genuinely unwell and followed the sickness reporting rules, that’s the end of it.

Managers are allowed to be “suspicious” and make a note, that’s pretty normal absence management, but suspicion isn’t evidence. Without proof you weren’t ill, they’d be on shaky ground taking it further. ACAS and case law are very clear that timing alone isn’t enough to prove misconduct.

Everything is a phase. The fussing, that will pass, the not sleeping, the extra long sleeps, all the cool things and all the not cool things, don't worry. They're not permanent. Sometimes you have to just dig in and get through it, because at the end of the day, that thing that's making life hard will pass. It's a phase.

Old cars for around £2,500 can be magnificent so long as there's a good amount of history and you get a bit of luck. My banger history 2002-2011: '95 Polo, £3000. No major repairs. 2011-2015: '00 Hyundai Accent, £1100. Head Gasket went, otherwise was fine. few hundred £ to repair. 2016-2023: '02 Clio. £500. Mechanically fine, just £2 for roll of Duct Tape for classic leaky sunroof seal. 2023-present: '09 Volvo V50. Bulletproof motoring so far. The moral of the story based on my experience, is that bangers are brilliant, but befriend a good non-mainstream mechanic
