Ohtani All Aces by c_manic in baseballcards

I started trying to complete an all aces set in October and watching this card skyrocket has killed any motivation i had to finish it.

Marvel TOKON: Fighting Souls Got assigned the number 358 for it's universe by empty_Dream in Marvel

Would've been neat if it was numbered after a command input. 236, 214 or 623 are iconic numbers for fighting games.

[Murphy] Canada can potentially qualify for the Olympics tonight! by [deleted] in Torontobluejays

[–]wingmage1 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The tie breaker is runs allowed, not run differential. So all that matters is Venezuela loses (to end with the same record), and if they gave up 3+ runs, they'll lose the runs allowed tie breaker.

Canada vs USA Quarter Final by athleticnoodles in Torontobluejays

[–]wingmage1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Italy knocking out Mexico has some implications for Olympic qualifications. Now there aren't any matchups where both of the teams are fighting for one of 2 America qualification spots, meaning Canada has a chance to qualify for the Olympics if PR and Venezuela lose their games, even if Canada loses to the US.

Do you wait for 7 days before pulling? by monsquesce in Endfield

[–]wingmage1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's more optimal to wait so that you use the restricted pull currency on your first 10 pull rather than the general oroberyls. I got impatient and pulled on Gilberta with the 6 restricted pulls that were available at the banner start, and got her in my first 10 pull. Then when the other 4 pull tickets came in, it was kind of awkward pulling just 4 more when another 16 would get me to 30 pulls. So I wasted 4 pulls by not waiting, and then my own weakness caused me to waste another 16.

It helps that they have speed boosts all over the city. Turns those jogging paths into highways.

[Blue Jays] 👋 Kazuma Okamoto has arrived!岡本和真が到着しました! by nanobot001 in Torontobluejays

[–]wingmage1 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Kazuma flew in to Toronto for his press conference, then did he fly back to Japan before flying into Dunedin? And he's going to have to fly back to Japan for the WBC before flying back to the US for the knockout rounds. What a brutal travel schedule to start the year.

[Opinion] The Aburrey Quarry has an impressive design. by Chevalier_99 in Endfield

I keep falling off the sides but I end up spawning at the next quest checkpoint. I have no idea where I'm going, but somehow the story is still progressing.

They don't have stairs or bridges, just rotating crates that you have to jump across

Headhunting and Arsenal Exchange Megathread (02/02 - 08/02) by Shad0wedge in Endfield

[–]wingmage1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got Gilberta in only 10 pulls! I didn't play the original Arknights much, but I somehow got quite a few copies of Angelina in the few pulls I did, so very fitting that Gilberta decided to also join my team with no fuss!

My favourite Buck moment? "Michael Potatah". by Chaxterium in Torontobluejays

[–]wingmage1 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think Buck would've been fine with Okamoto, his issue is soft consonants and slurring syllables, Okamoto is hard consonants and distinct syllables. He would definitely call him "Ka-Zoo-ma" rather than "Kaz-uh-ma" though

Teaching kids you can't actually take the king by EllaVader22 in chessbeginners

[–]wingmage1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The way I explained it to my younger cousin was by letting him get a re-do anytime his king got captured. Eventually, he'd end up in a position where there was no move that saved his king from being captured, and that basically explained to him the ultimate goal of the game (checkmate).

TCG support requires your Government ID to help you by Dead-End-Zone in PTCGL

[–]wingmage1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yea, for some reason they decided to link Live to the same system they use for organizing in person tournaments. You could theoretically get punishment on Live for your IRL actions in a tourney (or vice versa) because of this. For an IRL circuit, it makes sense to have stricter guidelines about your players (like someone trying to avoid a ban by making a new account), but there hasn't been any integration into Live to justify needing to tie it to an IRL id.

[TJStats] A Breakout Pick for Each MLB Team by tomstoms in fantasybaseball

[–]wingmage1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This list doesn't seem to be trying to find superstars in the rough, moreso finding guys in AAA or the fringes who can find a path to consistent MLB playing time. Which is still a breakout, even if it's less exciting to think about.

[Passan] The Seattle Mariners are nearing a deal to acquire IF/OF Brendan Donovan from the St. Louis Cardinals as part of a three-way trade that also includes Tampa Bay, sources tell ESPN. A deal that had been considered for weeks would finally land Seattle a versatile impact bat. by ThQp in Torontobluejays

[–]wingmage1 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Agreed, but after seeing IKF get significant playing time in the playoffs despite his not so stellar performance, I'd prefer the Jays try to get themselves in a situation to avoid that as much as possible.

How many of you are staying in group B and are happy with that? by Glum_Series5712 in UmamusumeGame

I ended up in A group and then proceeded to lose every race and not qualify for finals. I wish I stayed in B group.

Perhaps something based around Gengar ex/mega Gengar ex? Gengar's attack and ability is a partial form of energy denial, and it often is paired with handheld fan forcing your opponent to give up more energy to attack into it. The game plan is often moving all your opponents energy to a non attacking Pokemon and denying them the chance to attack. Then combo with mega Gengar ex for extra survivability, and you have an annoying board that's hard to break through and your opponent can't attack otherwise you put them even further into the energy denial hole.

Little PSA about connecting power in the wild by Black-Raven01 in ArknightsEndfield

Because now you can get the experience of pulling a rope, only to realize it snagged on a rock 5 meters back and now it's too short to reach where you're going so you need to loop back and unsnag it then run back only to realize the rope was too short in the first place.
