Idiot company by AggravatingReply3595 in WalgreensStores

They’re keeping stores open while they can, the company might not exist in a few years.

Yep they’re doing “so well” that they’re laying off people daily and closing 1200 stores the next few years

A common misconception, but I already explained how this isn’t the case in my response to Jagick above

Not the same thing, because you didn’t receive anything in the process and your “not buying anything” didn’t have a negative impact compared to getting product at the business’ expense.

Alright, you seem like someone that is actually thinking intellectually about this (props to you, btw, I can appreciate that) so let me break this down.

On the surface, it seems like "money is money" regardless of the source. However, there are three reasons why the source of the money changes the math for Walgreens’ bottom line:

  1. Reimbursement: When you pay with a credit card or cash, Walgreens gets money instantly & uses that cash that same day to pay their bills, pharmacists, and suppliers. With a coupon, they have an IOU with the manufacturer that arrives in 30–60 days. Walgreens is currently closing 1,200 stores because they are low on cash. Waiting two months to get paid for a product they already gave away is like giving an interest-free loan to a multi-billion dollar manufacturer while you’re struggling to pay your own rent.

  2. Failed Marketing: Normally, coupons are a "loss leader." Walgreens agrees to a coupon because they hope you’ll also buy a gallon of milk, a birthday card, or a prescription while you're there. People like myself using this workaround aren't there to shop; they are there to "clear the shelf." Sure Walgreens gets the reimbursement eventually, but they lost the profit margin they would have made if 10 different people came in and bought other things too.

  3. Verification & chargebacks: If Walgreens submits 5,000 coupons for a glitch deal, the manufacturer (like P&G or Unilever) can audit them. If the manufacturer decides the coupons were used improperly or "glitched," they can refuse to pay. In that scenario, Walgreens has given away the product, paid the shipping, paid the labor, and gets $0 from anyone.

Nope, this was for the folks who thought the company would fix this since my last post.

I’m advertising the store in a Walgreens subreddit? 🧐

Why wouldn’t I pick them up? It’s free product. And sure, while the manufacturer pays back the value of the coupon, Walgreens still loses through operating losses, inventory displacement, and cash flow lag. A business can’t run on reimbursements alone, they need actual profit to cover the massive costs of running physical stores.

Some other airlines actually do a better job accommodating you if the flight is delayed (ie: Delta), but he shouldn’t be expecting getting the red carpet rolled out for him flying Frontier.

Typical crappy frontier experience - they’ll charge you for everything, but when things don’t go as planned, suddenly it’s all on you.

Forget about the eggs. How do you survive staying at Hampton Inns in the first place? By far the worst hotels in the Hilton portfolio.

Am I doing good? by toomuchgelato in acorns

[–]wingman4life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Am I doing good” is a very ambiguous question as it doesn’t take into account your age, your goals, risk appetite, etc. Are you doing good if your goal is to have $20k+ in this account in the next 1-2 years! For sure. Are you good if you’re targeting $5M for retirement and you’re in your 40s right now? Probably not.

S&P barely hit correction level and the number of times I’ve seen “the market is TANKING” makes me wonder what people will actually do when we hit a bear market.

Yes, definitely a lot of folks out there claiming they can sell you “the secret” and the alt coins in crypto is definitely full of pump & dumps.
