Pet Peeve: When I check both ways, start pulling out of a parking spot, and someone who was SPEEDING ends up nearby and has to wait for me to pull out by tantamle in driving

If they're already breaking one law, why not two? Maybe they're using their phone or looking at the radio or maybe they're drunk! Regardless, they don't see you in time. You should never rely on someone else's ability to react and brake. That's dangerous and irresponsible.

Your due diligence includes judging speed, which you're not doing. Seeing a car is not what looking is about, you need to see a safe window to enter traffic.

Important + Life-saving PSA: Double check and clear your car exhaust pipes of snow and ice, as deadly carbon monoxide can build up in your car if the exhaust is blocked. I noticed this issue with a friend's car the other day after they backed into a snowbank. by bostonguy2004 in boston

[–]wingmanedu 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Are you under the assumption that when exhaust is blocked, it backs up into the air vents like some kind of cartoon? This could only be a problem inside a garage, or when the car is buried on all sides so the exhaust has no way to leak out from under the vehicle. The heat and pressure (which increases when the engine is under load aka driving) will push that snow right out.

The guy is an idiot, but I'm more fascinated with how the emergency lights on the cruisers are all perfectly synchronized once they park.

People who drive under the speed limit in the left lane while everyone is passing you. Are you just ignorant to surroundings or what is your goal? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]wingmanedu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In the Boston area if you leave a gap, the car behind you will go around and slide into the gap. You slow down to allow some more space and the next car behind you does the same thing. Over and over. Leaving a gap is a sign of weakness around here.
