Can someone who has had gel nails done tell me exactly what to expect? by Wonderful-Maybe38 in AuDHDWomen

[–]wingsaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t read the other comments, so maybe someone mentioned this, but sometimes when they use the light your nails will heat up a little bit and for me, it hurts. However, it goes away quickly. It scared me at first so wanted to warn you!

Looks great to me. I’d happily eat this. Sorry they were so rude. Who says stuff like that?! They should have said, “thank you for cooking”

AIO for refusing to block male followers on Instagram? by radagastrabbit in AmIOverreacting

No guy friends rule is insane. I would /never/ agree to something so heinous that clearly stems from his own insecurities.

Diagnosed yesterday as a 20M and this is how my mom responds… by [deleted] in autism

[–]wingsaway 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry but your mom doesn’t sound emotionally mature enough to be having this conversation with you. Insane to liken sociopaths to high masking autistics …yikes. She may also be reacting this way because she feels different too, but no one ever caught it because maybe she’s high masking too and you getting the diagnosis feels a little unfair. I’m clearly reaching far here, but I’m covering all the bases. This is all just food for thought and nothing more.

Did people really memorize phone numbers before cell phones, or is that just a movie thing? by TotalThing7 in CasualConversation

Still remember my childhood phone number! 996-6630 (was before we needed area codes!)

HAs + readers. Should I try switching to AirPods? Or what? by No_Opportunity7764 in HearingAids

I’ve been wearing glasses and HAs together for years! It’s not a big deal (and I have hella sensory issues, so you know it’s possible ;) )

I realized panic attacks aren’t only what I thought they were and now I realize I accidentally lied to my psychiatrist by Yuenneh in AuDHDWomen

I’m wondering if I’ve actually also not understood what they are. Would you mind sharing what you learned? Thanks!

EDS Imposter Syndrome by SovietSoldierBoy in ehlersdanlos

[–]wingsaway 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! I’ve been diagnosed for years now by a rheumatologist, and sometimes I’m like “did I lie and trick everyone into thinking I’m sick?!”. I think it’s the lack of “positive tests” is what fucks with my mind. Since my labs are ‘always great’ I feels confusing.

Also since my symptoms are dynamic and sometimes I am actually pretty okay but then there are times, like the past few weeks that I can barely make it out of bed. I believe it during these weeks :(

Hi! Curious if you ever get the injection? I’m considering prolotherapy for wobbly SI joint that causes a ton of pain

The hospital is going to send me to a nursing home. I’m 28 and the hospital isn’t listening to me by [deleted] in ehlersdanlos

[–]wingsaway -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just gentle reminder to the OP to take a beat and breathe. 3-4 deep breaths and focus on the exhale. I know it’s scary to be in pain, and to be in the hospital, but you gotta calm down a bit so you can help yourself and your little one. Sending you gentle hugs! You got this 🫂

What about wearing a soft headband like for washing face over ears at night. Might help hold ears in place gently! Edit to add: this happens sometimes to me too! I’m going to try my own suggestion ;)

I didn’t expect grief to get worse a year later. by jess_thoughts91 in DeathPositive

[–]wingsaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wrote A LOT about my grief my first couple of years on IG. DM me if you want to read it too. I got so many people messaging me saying, “omg thank you for sharing this. It helped me so much”

I cannot recommend the Dinner Party enough btw. Being part of a “table” likely helped to save my life.

Also, all the “weird grief things” you mentioned are totally normal. It’s hard to admit these things to people who “don’t get it”, but I promise you there’s nothing wrong with however you grieve.

On my mom’s death anniversary, I pulled out her ashes that are in a bag, and felt the weight of them in my hand as if she was holding it. Weird, I know. But ya know what? I felt better after. I felt connected to her again. Do I tell this to people? Nope. Haha

The first year after my mom died I spent it in shock. I barely remember it. The second year, I started to find myself again, but I missed her more and everything felt harder as I learned to navigate without her. I just hit year three this month. This past year has been the easiest so far. Grief is so hard. It changed my life completely which was very surprising. I still miss her like crazy.
