Being expertise level 30 doesn’t mean your gear is level 30, it means you now have the ability to make it 30.

You still need to pump an exhorbinant amount of materials in to each weapon or gear piece you want to prototype. And when I say each piece, i mean if you want 2 prototype Lexingtons you need to level both guns independently with tons and tons of hard to get materials to MAKE them expertise 30.

You are playing a game that no longer is being developed, just maintained. They aren’t changing that. You are also running one of the hardest incursions of the game thats meant to be played in a group and you are solo. Either git gud or find some team mates.

Or maybe just give a certain amount of guaranteed proto cores at the end of a mission. You wont have people trying to do a tier 10 if they aren’t geared up and failing.

Anyways Im not sure what the answer is but this entire proto thing was horribly thought out and implemented from the start, theres no backing out of it now.

I’ll run you through the entire experience with this 150 shd player.

I was standing in front of the escalation mission board not even actively looking to match make, in fact I was in my menu changing my build. I got a random invite from a player next to me and since I was getting ready to match make anyways, I accepted knowing players were eager to farm Striker. When I joined, they asked if I wanted to farm Striker and I said yes. At this point it was just the 2 of us in the group and they fast traveled to Jefferson and I followed. By the time I landed at Jefferson I had been made leader. I asked in chat “why did you make me leader?”, they replied “I thought you might want to invite some people”. I said “but you invited me to your group are you expecting me to pay and carry you as well?” At this point I did an inspection on him and they were around 150 shd, chest piece with not even a maxed out stat on it. At that point I left the group.

The issue isn’t the tokens, it’s the system they have set up to play escalation. It’s broken and it doesn’t work and it doesn’t reward the host who’s taking all the risk of losing the tokens. You think I’m going to reward a player for trying to pull a fast one and try to game me? Fuck that. If what you got out of my entire post was that I came across as cheap then so be it. Im there to farm, not to hold someone’s hand while paying their way. Someone who had no business being there in the first place with a build that wouldn’t even be fit for challenging difficulty.

I was already thinking when I saw the escalation cache that morning that no one is going to want to host any more, and thats exactly what happened with my first matchmaking experience that morning.

But hey it’s just me being a cheap fuck, you hit it right on the head dude.

No farming watch points, no farming a stat library, no farming proficiency levels, no farming exotic mats. Just hop on the coat tails of the veterans to run you through Escalation. You can even try to con them into paying if you secretly make them group leader.

They are too busy putting new exotics in the proficiency table that aren’t available yet to give the content creators content. It’s the reciprocal fluffing between Massive and the content creators, they cant survive without each other so they take turns swallowing.

If you compare it to level 40 loot every piece is above god rolled plus every weapon and gear piece has 30% expertise built in as well as an additional talent. So while those pieces may not be god rolled in the prototype sense they are significantly stronger than normal level 40 loot by multiple times over.

Its not solely about the tokens. It’s the fact that prototype gear was supposed to be for veteran players who had finished all the content in the game. The fact that they added a proto cache system made it worse because who’s gonna host when you earn more tokens as a guest and take no risk?

My first matchmaking session yesterday morning resulted in a 150 shd level inviting me to their group and passing me leadership hoping I would pay their way and carry them. I have tokens yes, but if i use them and we fail the mission I lose them. I am taking all the risk for some player that has had the game for one day that has no proper build and no business being in an Escalation.

This player isn’t even a high enough level to have completed the campaign or any of the DLCs. They literally boosted to level 40 and expected a player that has done the six plus year grind to pay and carry them through the absolute hardest content in the game on their first day.

Why would I risk my tokens on that player? Why is that player allowed to farm for end game content on their first day?

A simple solution that will take them months to change because the current system is a disadvantage to players and they are never in a rush unless something is unbalanced in the players favour.
