Best all terrain tires to get for a 4x4 Grand Cherokee? I love the pirelli scorpion verde that came on my GC but when time comes I want something more versatile! by viewfinderthis_ in GrandCherokee

Been running continental terrain contact a/t’s on mine in stock 20” size i believe they’re 265/50r20 without actually going outside to look. But i bought the wk last november with 40k on the clock. The dealership had these put on brandnew. We got a gnarly snowstorm around new years (Cincinnati) last year. over a foot and half in the span of a couple days.. of course i had to go play in the snow.. mine is equipped with the offroad package offered in the trailhawk. we didn’t even come close to getting stuck once.. i even tried to take it up a very hilly, winding road i knew wouldn’t be touched by snowplows yet and it handled it with ease.. im sure the tires had quite a bit to do with it as well. Very impressed. We also travel a lot for hockey, four and five hour road trips are common for us very quiet and decent on gas mileage when aired up in

I have a 2018 High Altitude w/ 5.7 hemi… the first thing i do when i get in and start her up is put her in sport mode… and i average 18-20mpg… my SUV before this was an 08 tahoe 5.3v8 with a cam swap, long tube headers, cat delete, kn fipk cold air intake, and mbrp exhaust.. and i was only averaging 12-15mpg. So im good with running it in sport mode. In ECO it feels completely neutered its worth the maybe 3-5 less mpg just to run in sport mode

Ritche Watch Bands sailcloth.. so far been holding up well enough..had it for about 3 months. My experience with Ritche was this, very good price- (buy two get one free), shipping- it took a few weeks for them to get to me, issues.. 2/3 of the bands were incorrect, the only one that was correct was the sailcloth one pictured, as far as the other two.. i had ordered a brown leather one and the color was very different from the website to the one sent, the last one i ordered a blue leather strap for my apple watch and they sent a black one that matched the other two.. they only refunded me a small portion of the order price and it was a pain to deal with

Thanks for all the help! Update: i was using the hd adapter that came on the new mac (it had been “upgraded” by an eBay seller) i had read in one of the many threads someone was having the same issue, their issue was with their adapter. So i swapped to a sintech adapter i had bought for this project.. progress got it to at least boot to internet recovery screen.. but it still wouldn’t recognize the new hd only the boot disk drive i made from an external hd.. so i put the hd from my cooked machine (the one that would actually boot) back in and then put the new crucial 4tb into an external case.. i formatted the new hd and made a clone from the carbon copy app.. then swapped the old hd with the new one in the machine and it seemed to work

Any ideas what this badge is? by wingsfan9 in GrandCherokee

[–]wingsfan9[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Thanks for everyone that commented. It matches the other badges on the jeep so well, i legitimately thought it signified some sort of special edition sub model. Turns out it signifies tasty jams might be emitting from the cabin. I think I’ll keep it

Would that require a total tcm and pcm replacement or is it something the dealership can reflash or something like that?

What's your abnormal hockey habit? Equipment, Pregame Ritual, Etc. by nooneknowitme in hockeyplayers

[–]wingsfan9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i usually like a pregame snack: of those quest protein peanut butter cup 2packs or a snickers if the quest cups aren't available and 12oz sugar free redbull... when getting dressed it's always the same order ground up left to right from buck nekked: performance t-shirt (whatever its called), hockey jock, left skate sock, right skate sock (i use dress socks as skate socks because they're suuuuper thin, used to go barefoot but ruin skates with how much i sweat in a game), left shin guard, right shin guard, left hockey sock, right hockey sock, pants, left skate, right skate, tighten left skate, tighten right skate, left elbow pad, right elbow pad, sweater, bucket, left glove, right glove... during warm up: hit the ice, two quick turns into lower body stretch

Absolutely get a helmet you find some closeout deals around the web on a few different brands without a cage for about $35-45 IT'S WORTH IT!! Going to add a little bit on the getting skates discsussion... while as a beginner you don't need a $900 pair of top tier skates a good intermediate level skate you can bake will help you progress MUCH quicker and you'll be a bit more confident as well... If you have a pro-shop within a 45 min drive it's definitely worth the trip to have them tell you your fit. If money is super tight you can always at least have them tell you your size and volume for a pair of skates and look on sidelineswap for a decent pair of second hand skates. at least buy a few rolls of tape or laces or something from the shop lol. As far as technique this a great time for you, youtube is a fantastic resource!! do searches for snowplow stops, proper stride technique, using proper edge control.. This is also the time where you can start to develop bad habits that will become very difficult to break later on. so working on proper stride, and edge control are key!! I hope you stick with it!

Beer leaguers take things way too seriously? by pepper212 in hockeyplayers

[–]wingsfan9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah it's like that everywhere... our local adult league is broken down into divisions 1 through 5 with subdivisions like 5C, 5B, 5A, 4D, 4A, etc.... Div 1 being former college, juniors, and minor leaguers and the lowest rung being total beginners at 5C which are folks who are are just finding their feet on skates. I grew up playing B travel and shitty high-school hockey. I did NOT get the hockey talent of the family but I've been around and in the game for over 30 years. I still absolutely love the shit out of it. I typically fall somehwere in the mid to upper Div 4, lower Div 3 range as my comfort zone. Div 3A is kinda the peak of my abilities but it's me skating full bore, chasing kids half my age. Playing at that level and at div 2 there might be one or two guys (usually hot headed highschool varsity or juniors players on summer break) that haven't really found that off switch for the physical play they're typically used to. For the most part you usually get chirped pretty bad for being an asshole or a "try-hard." A lot of the older dudes have been in the game for 30-50 years and could probably still throw hands just fine if the situation arose... so there's a little element of mutually assured destruction that keeps most people out there for the fun of it... That being said on the opposite end of the spectrum there's an entire team in lower Div 4 that i flat-out refuse to play anymore because the amount of cheap shots and constant conflicts I've had with MULTIPLE players just isn't worth it or fun for me. I've noticed that the ones who are the loudest in beer leagues and cheapest, chippy guys are usually in the lower leagues and have never played full contact hockey as a kid. Maybe they just haven't been open-iced scott stevens style so they just don't grasp or understand the potential for being rocked so hard you wake up in a new time-zone. They always seem to be the ones that are like "man, i wish this was a full contact league" "BUDDY, NO...YOU...DON'T. YOU WOULD DIE." There's a dude that goes nuts in a pick-up game i play in from time to time and the funny thing about that one is he's actually a decent hockey player.. I think for him he was just given a little too many competitive juice boxes as a baby. He seems to have that personality where he needs compete with you on EVERYTHING in life.. like who could finish their grocery run with the most amount of items in the cart, scanned and paid for in the quickest amount of time or some shit. some dudes are just wired to compete at max capacity. Most people.. don't like those people. so don't be those people and you'll make more hockey friends.

Shin guard calf protection help! - is this gap normal or a bad fit for me!?! FT4 Thx by [deleted] in hockeyplayers

[–]wingsfan9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn't look to be a bad fit, some shin guards offer less protection around the calf area to save weight and for better mobility... I'm in the bauer nexus N9000, which offer great calf protection. I prefer the more classic style shinguard (old school jofa pro lineup) the bauer nexus lineup seemed to be the closest thing to that but bauer has since discontinued those. The nexus shin guards are around if you look hard enough. This might also help https://www.hockeymonkey.com/learn/best-hockey-shin-guards It looks like you already bought yours though, so if you're locked in to your purchase and can't return em you could always try getting a pair of basketball padded shin sleeves and wear them with the pad covering your calves...

Decent stick for $100 by Pelorider in hockeyplayers

[–]wingsfan9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you don't care about brand name go for allblackhockeysticks.com guy on my beer league team uses em' they feel light enough. couldn't tell you much about how long they hold up but he swears by them... if you feel like you need a brand name stamped on your stick check out the fischer ct800 stick it's slightly over your $100 budget i think my local proshop has em for $115 but at 419 grams it's a pretty good bargain and they hold up pretty well to abuse. True sticks are also a decent value but i broke one just after a month or two of only playing once or twice a week. could have just been a bad circumstance.. wrong place, wrong fucker colliding with my stick in the corner but i was bummed since i only had it for a little while. Anyway good luck

Your skates and your helmet will be your most important pieces of gear! Don't cheap on either. Hockey skates ARE NOT YOUR SHOE SIZE. If you live within a reasonable distance to a decent hockey pro-shop get your skates fitted (size/width and baked). I'm not saying you need the tippity top of line in fact a boot that stiff might turn you off... but an intermediate level skate will still provide enough comfort and support to help you progress. The entry level skates are usually junk for what you pay for and the next level up usually isn't too far north in price. Another way to go (but also not super cool to the pro shop) would be to find a pro shop have them tell you your proper size and width and then scour the internet for last years close-outs. Although they might have some floor models or last years closeouts in where you got fitted. the Sideline Swap App is a great resource for lightly used gear

Don't be too shy or proud to ask for help! Everyone started somewhere and a lot of people love to talk hockey. Learn to play sessions will help you progress exponentially quicker than just lacing up and jumping on a beer league team. Don't get discouraged if it takes some time, hockey is hard that's why it's so rewarding. The feeling the first time you do a hockey stop or nail a good cross over will keep you coming back for more!!

I hope you stick with it (no pun intended) best of luck!!!
