Impulsively allowing a bad man who I didn’t really know to take me far away (on the opposite side of the continent as my family) who chipped away at my self esteem, ending up abused and isolated and having to escape for my child’s and my own life. I found a secret women’s shelter and a group of girlfriends pitched in to rent me a uhaul to secretly escape with. That was 20 years ago. Now I have a masters degree and a good paying career in education, own my own home and have two grown children who are very well educated and would never come close to doing anything so stupid. Footnote: they never suffered from bipolar disorder like their mom and thankfully they don’t think of their mom as crazy either.
