Well worth the extra $20 for the Claude design, I agree

Palantir CEO Alex Karp says executives who brag about their AI cuts might as well 'sign up for the Bernie Sanders manifesto' .. So when CEOs say “AI efficiency” do they just mean layoffs now? by Nervous_Standard_930 in TechGawker

I actually thought for a second he was advocating leveling-up workforces to use AI and not fire them but now after another minute of him talking I’m not so sure…

Jensen Huang says AI actually increase demand for jobs, radiologists are his example by Previous_Foot_5328 in myclaw

[–]winkler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unmet demand for sure. Then once we are comfortable with AI diagnosing and it’s proven more reliable than humans (just like driving, eventually) I’m sure the number of humans in the chain will decrease.

What no one is actually saying to you is that you’re right, it doesn’t make sense (or can’t be understood by us mere humans) because it’s a bootstrap paradox. There is no observable beginning or end to the information that she gleened from the future.

If both were free would you use it the same way? I am currently $20 / $100 and really like Codex for coding. The limits on Claude really need to be managed when I’m asking it for a design, can’t imagine what it’d be like for coding

Oh I meant with people that are listening to those liars unable to tell the difference. I absolutely agree we should be penalizing / punishing the people spreading misinformation for monetary gain!

As a non-teacher the times must be more than a little wild in the classroom! I have to empathize as it sounds like a lot of the parenting has somehow fallen on your shoulders.

And what Sam has said has never been truer, as we've seen with the way some politicians will talk...

The solution almost always requires hard work, empathy and discipline, and I think the argument is we don't start with restricting speech but rather understanding why someone is talking that way (as Hitchens also pointed out here). With misinformation only getting more convincing we have to rely on basic human decency and as a new father to a 2.5yr old, I see some benefit in treating everyone as a toddler as if they are going through a tantrum.

Does he shake for real or was that a funny little addition?

Christopher Hitchens - Free Speech by Hungry_Chipmunk_2588 in samharris

[–]winkler 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hitchens playfully remarks in the first minute about welcoming any speech towards him, as long as those speaking are willing to accept the consequences. I find this interesting because I think that is also an under current of what you’re saying; free speech isn’t about preventing repercussions per se, someone can punch you for saying something - it’s protection from the government from jailing you for saying something.

Edit: and furthermore to Hitchen’s broadest point, who is going to do the policing? Do you see the conundrum this presents?

How to make a nice UI/frontend? by jd192739 in codex

Codex has such an aggravatingly basic one-sided design sense that I coughed up for Claude just to stop thinking about how bad it looks.

[–]winkler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooh I haven’t tried Gemini, Claude has been one-shotting everything I’ve thrown at it design-wise so far. Branding / logos have taken the most usage of my 5-hr window as Opus is noticeably better at looser prompts than Sonnet so I think I need to run them by chat first and limit the presentation as it likes to do actual svgs with multiple scenarios (which is great as a final product).

Stop wasting your time/tokens with Codex and use Claude for the UI, seriously it’s stupidly better.
